Peterson Family Launches Fresh Coat of Baytown

    - May 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Baytown, TX (PRWEB) May 27, 2014

Veteran Duane Peterson and his wife Stormie are looking forward to bringing a new level of customer service to the painting industry in Baytown, Texas through their new company, Fresh Coat of Baytown.

Fresh Coat Painters offers residential and commercial painting services including interior and exterior painting, wood staining and finishing, and other services for nearly every protective coating application. They use quality, environmentally safe materials and offer a 24/7 customer service center, online scheduling, in-home color design consultations, and detailed quotes. Fresh Coat of Baytown serves Baytown, Deer Park, LaPorte, Mont Belvieu, Beach City, Dayton and many other communities within East Harris County, Liberty County and Chambers County.

The idea to open a local Fresh Coat Painters franchise started with the Petersons own bad experiences.

We own some rental properties and, in the course of maintaining those properties, we have had some literal horror stories and contractors situations that left our jaws on the ground. Then, when we did our marketing research, we, through the phonebook and internet, located as many contractors as possible and only four of the eight contractors came to do an estimate, and one of those people said they wont do exteriors in the summer because of the heat. We also had no idea how many of them came up with the total price. We had no clue what all we were paying for and why, Peterson said.

We are opening Fresh Coat Painters to bring a new level of service to the industry in our community and to set the standard, he said.

Before launching the business, Peterson served in the military and in law enforcement. He also has a bachelors degree and masters degree from the Forbes School of Business from Ashford University.

Fresh Coat is committed to quality products and services and the company offers a 3-3-3 customer service pledge, so calls will be answered by a live person within three minutes, a quote will be delivered within three days (customer schedule permitting), and the job will be started within three weeks. All Fresh Coat employees are insured, trained and background checked.

I believe in doing things right, honest and fair. Customer service is everything. At Fresh Coat, were a customer service company that hires painters. Not just a painting service, Peterson said. When people come to us, we want to help them make their home what they truly want it to be. We want to build a relationship. We want to give back to the community and work with the veteran community and those who are less fortunate,

Fresh Coat was founded in 2004 as part of Strategic Franchising Systems. In the last year, Fresh Coat has been included in the Bonds Top 100 and named to Entrepreneur Magazines Franchise 500 list. Fresh Coat also is part of the International Franchise Association, the Small Business Associations Franchise Registry, VetFran and Minority Fran.

Outdoor lighting using wind-solar hybrid renewable energy sources

    - May 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

As an outcome from the continuous hybrid renewable energy research, an innovative outdoor lighting system powered by a shroud-augmented wind turbine and a solar panel was installed in the Kuala Lumpur campus of University of Malaya (UM).

As an outcome from the continuous hybrid renewable energy research, an innovative outdoor lighting system powered by a shroud-augmented wind turbine and a solar panel was installed in the KL campus of University of Malaya (UM). This hybrid green energy system is a compact design that harmoniously integrates a vertical-axis-wind-turbine (VAWT) with the novel omni-direction-guide-vane (ODGV), solar panel and LED lighting system. Consisting of several guide vanes, the ODGV is carefully designed and placed to surround the VAWT for wind power augmentation where the oncoming wind is guided through the ODGV. This will create a venturi effect that increases the wind speed before the wind-stream interacts with the turbine blades. Furthermore, the unique design of the ODGV that shrouds the wind turbine rotor provides a safer and more secure environment for maintenance workers and the public.

Ultimately, the ODGV overcomes the low wind speed challenge in the tropics by guiding and increasing the speed of the wind from all directions radially through the guide-vanes before entering the VAWT at center portion. To harness power from the sun, a photovoltaic panel is mounted on the top surface of the ODGV for solar energy generation. The green energy generated from this wind-solar hybrid system is utilized to power the outdoor lighting system.

The team led by Dr. Chong Wen Tong was awarded a Pre-commercialized Prototype Fund to develop and install the product at suitable locations in the campus. The fund was provided by UM via UM Center of Innovation and Commercialization (UMCIC). The first unit was installed next to the outdoor gymnasium, opposite 1st Residential College. This unit will serve as the first full-scale trial and as a showcase unit of the product. Improvements on the design and features will be included in the next units. For the commercialization of this product, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between UM and a private company, Master Shanghai Turnparts Sdn. Bhd. (MSTSB). MSTSB has provided great assistance in enhancing the product. The second unit of the product is currently in the final stages of fabrication and testing.

The product is protected by three intellectual properties and a trademark, all of which is owned by UM. It also has won several awards in local and international exhibitions. With a motto 'Lighting-up UM', the team aims to provide a sustainable solution for energy efficient and quality lighting powered by wind-solar hybrid renewable energy sources.

    Summary of the product

The product is a part of an UMRG project led by Dr. Chong Wen Tong. The product is called "Eco-GreenergyTM Wind-Solar Outdoor Lighting System" and it is self-sustained, i.e. powered by the shrouded vertical-axis-wind-turbine generator and solar PV panel. The novelty of the product is achieved through the wind power augmentation of the guide-vanes assembly known as the omni-direction-guide-vane (ODGV). The guide-vanes can be made from clear and translucent material to act as light-plates. Moreover, logos or symbols can be engraved on these plates for showcasing purposes. The solar PV is positioned at the top portion of the ODGV to avoid interference resulting from shadow. The batteries and the controller are stored at the top of the pole and below the ODGV to avoid vandalism or flash floods. The overall "clean" impression of the product compared to other conventional wind-solar lamp posts serves as an added advantage for this product.

Jiggly, Wiggly, Worms To Swarm Lawns Grub Summer Treatments Now Offered as Infantry in Fighting Pest and Mole Control …

    - May 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) May 26, 2014

Grass have brown patches that never turn green? Lawn suffering from irregularly shaped dead patches? These horrifying results could be due to ravenous grubs looking for a full meal in that beautiful, lush green lawn, as well as the hungry moles and other mammals who eat them. The only suggested all encompassing sure fix is with severe pest and mole control from Gopher Patrol. According to Tech Supervisor Brandon Rodriguez, Our company uses all inclusive treatment programs to promote full and healthy lawns.

The most common ones seen are white and creamy colored. They are a beetle larvae that has a C for cookie shape. Here are just a few helpful hints in trying to keep an eye on those pests:

If there are dead patches...They may be due to grubs feeding that occurred the previous fall. To check, lift a piece of your turf. If grubs are the culprit, the dead patch will roll up like a carpet, or youll be able to pull up the grass and see that it has no roots.

If there are irregularly shaped dead patchesThey will appear in your well-irrigated lawn in late summer or early fall. Check the turf using the technique just mentioned.

If the turf has become spongySometimes sponginess can be detected before extensive brown patches appear. With well-watered lawns, sponginess may be the first clue that grubs are present.

Birds, skunks, armadillos, raccoons or moles will destroy lawns they eat grubs and are trying to uncover them.

Grubs CAN and WILL take over and destroy a lawn in one summer. In its first instar, or earliest stages of larvae development, the Scarab Beetle grub feeds on the turf roots just below the soil surface. This damage generally occurs in Spring, however, the actual damage does not become apparent until the hot dry days of Summer set in. With an extended period of hot dry weather the top layer of soil dries out completely! The grass roots being sheared off just below the soil are unable to absorb any water or moisture from the soil and consequently the lawn dies in the patches where the grubs have been active. If left untreated, the population will grow and there will be more problems with other outdoor pests such as gophers coming to visit and helping to destroy the lawn.

Man rescues grandson from burning home

    - May 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Kenneth Baker was mowing his lawn when he heard his nieces boyfriend yell "The house is on fire!"

Baker then saw smoke and flames billowing out of his raised-ranch home on Pleasant Street, the Enterprise reported.

He ran into the home to rescue the only person inside: his 15-year-old grandson, Robert, who is a special needs student.

But Baker, 66, said the house was already engulfed in thick, black smoke.

"You couldn't even see inside," he recalled minutes after Sunday's fire. "I was screaming to my grandson... he calls me Dad. I said, Where are you? He said, Dad over here. I went directly to the living room from (the sound of) his voice and from there, got him out as quickly as I could."

"I was ready to pass out, thats how bad it was, Baker said. It was all black smoke. He didnt know which way to go so he just stayed in there in that smoke."

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the one-alarm blaze at 43 Pleasant St. late Sunday morning, said Fire Lt. Rick Emord.

No injuries were reported, and officials said the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

Emord was among firefighters who responded to the house after receiving an emergency call reporting a possible basement fire at 10:40 a.m. Sunday.

When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke showing from the front of the house, and flames coming out of a basement window, Emord said.
