Four roofing companies and two supervisors in the province have been charged under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for incidents in 2012 and 2013, it was announced today.

According to a Service NL news release, there were no injuries in any of the incidents which occurred in Stephenville, Grand Falls-Windsor, Conception Bay South, St. Johns and Mount Pearl.

The owner of Flynns Roofing, Siding and Masonry is facing four charges for violating fall protection regulations at three different locations in Stephenville in December 2012 and September 2013
All Systems Roofing Ltd. in Grand Falls-Windsor is facing two charges for violating fall protection regulations, and the supervisor of All Systems Roofing is charged for failing to ensure workers wore protective equipment. Both incidents occurred in October 2012 in Grand Falls-Windsor.
Yetmans Shingles Ltd. is facing six charges for violating fall protection regulations and failing to provide necessary supervision to workers at three locations in Conception Bay South and St. Johns. The incidents occurred in September 2012, April 2013 and June 2013.
Red Seal Roofing Ltd. is facing six charges for violating fall protection regulations and failing to provide necessary supervision at locations in Mount Pearl and St. Johns. A company supervisor is charged for failing to ensure that workers under his supervision at those locations used protective equipment. These incidents occurred in August and October 2013.
The first appearance for Flynns Roofing, Siding and Masonry was March 24 in Stephenville with the next court date set for June 2.

The owner of Flynns Roofing, Siding and Masonry is facing four charges for violating fall protection at three different locations in the community in December 2012 and September 2013.
The first appearance for Flynns Roofing, Siding and Masonry was March 24 in Stephenville with the second set for June 2.
Three other companies in the province and two supervisors have also been charged in separate incidents as a result of investigations by the Occupational Health and Safety Division.
In Grand Falls-Windsor, All Systems Roofing Ltd. is facing two charges for violating fall protection regulations and a supervisor is charged with failing to ensure workers wore protective equipment. Both incidents occurred in October 2012.
Yetmans Shingles Ltd. is facing six charges for violating fall protection regulations and failing to provide necessary supervision to workers at three locations in Conception Bay South and St. Johns. The incidents occurred in September 2012, April 2013 and June 2013.

Both All Systems Roofing Ltd. and its supervisor in Grand Falls-Windsor and Yetmans Shingles Ltd. in St. Johns had first appearances on April 11, with a second appearances set for All Systems Roofing Ltd. on May 21 and May 9 for Yetmans Shingles Ltd. The first appearance for Red Seal Roofing Ltd. and its supervisor was April 2 in St. Johns with the second set for May 26.

(Reuters) - Dish Network Corp, the second-largest U.S. satellite TV company, reported a better-than-expected 6 percent growth in quarterly revenue due to higher net subscriber additions.
The company added a net 40,000 subscribers in the quarter ended March 31. Wall Street analysts had expected the company to add a net 21,900 subscribers in the quarter ended March 31, according to market research firm StreetAccount.
Subscriber additions improved as the rate of cancellations fell to 1.42 percent from 1.47 percent a year earlier. The company ended the quarter with 14.1 million pay-TV subscribers.
Larger rival DirecTV reported a quarterly profit that beat analysts' estimates last week, helped by subscriber growth in Latin America and higher average revenue per user in the United States.
DirecTV is evaluating a possible combination with AT&T Inc, but it also thinks that AT&T could be more interested in buying Dish, Reuters said on Wednesday.
Net income attributable to Dish fell to $175.9 million, or 38 cents per share, from $215.6 million, or 47 cents per share, a year earlier as the company spent more on content and transmission. (r.reuters.com/hyn29v)
Analysts had expected a profit of 44 cents per share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
