Topeka, KS - infoZine - Outreach Marketing Group, Direct Source Media and Secure 1, Inc., were ordered to pay the fine in a consent judgment approved this week by Shawnee County District Judge Larry Hendricks. In addition, Hendricks ordered the company to refrain from further violations of the No-Call Act.
The attorney generals office received three complaints from Johnson County residents in 2012 and 2013 alleging the company called them to sell home security systems or security monitoring systems. The consumers phone numbers were registered on the Do-Not-Call list.
The case was investigated by the attorney generals Consumer Protection Division. Assistant Attorney General Meghan Stoppel of Attorney General Derek Schmidts office litigated the case.
Earlier this year, Schmidt proposed a new law, which will give the attorney general additional authority to enforce violations of the No-Call Act when telemarketers call consumers cell phones. That law was passed unanimously by the Kansas Legislature and signed by the governor. The law takes effect July 1.

Installing a home security system used to mean spending hundreds of dollars to have professionals come and hardwire your house, signing a long-term contract, then paying huge fees month after month in order to keep the thing running. Systems weren't flexible, false alarms were frequent, and if you were a lowly renter, you were out of luck -- despite the fact that rental units get burglarized more often than any other kind of property.
Times are changing, though, with a smart new wave of home security systems that's changing the way we think about protecting our homes. These new systems are built around plug-and-play, DIY-friendly devices and sensors that work with your smartphone, move when you need them to, and put you in control of how you protect your home, whether you own a five-bedroom townhouse or rent a studio apartment. Best of all, these systems come with no contracts, and in many cases, no monthly fees -- meaning that peace of mind is more affordable than ever.

Perhaps the slickest-looking security device ever created, the $199 Canary is an all-in-one security system with an assortment of smart sensors built right into it. There's Wi-Fi, a night-vision-ready camera that you'll be able to access v ia a smartphone app, and motion, temperature, and humidity sensors all packed inside, along with learning technology that will adapt to your habits over time, leading to fewer false alarms. You won't be able to hook up any external sensors with the system, though, and in the event of an emergency, it'll call you, but not the police.
Still, Canary raised over $2 million during an immensely successful Indiegogo campaign, and big names like Khosla Ventures and Bobby Yazdani recently invested over $10 million in the device, so it's clearly something people are excited about. Could Canary break out big and do for home security what the Nest did for thermostats? We're not sure, but we're looking forward to getting our hands on one when it's finally released in the coming months. Just one question -- why isn't it yellow? (Availability and pricing outside the US are unknown at this time.)
Read our full preview of Canary.

There are plenty of IP cameras that allow you to view a location remotely, but few offer as simple a setup or as elegant an interface as Dropcam does. The original Dropcam HD left us impressed, and its follow-up, the Dropcam Pro, is even better. Just plug the camera into your computer via USB, introduce it to your wireless network, then download the free Dropcam app to your Android or iOS device. You'll be able to monitor your Dropcam feed in real-time for free, or pay $9.95 per month for a DVR-esque cloud recording service. It even has a built-in two-way talk feature.
At $199 per camera in the US or 179.90 in the UK (pricing in Australia is unavailable at this time), the Dropcam Pro isn't a cheap home monitoring option, but it features some of the best video quality of any consumer-grade camera available today.

Garland, TX (PRWEB) May 02, 2014
When the super heat of summer arrives, people want their air conditioners to keep them cool and comfortable at the lowest energy cost possible. It is impossible to achieve this with an antique air conditioner more than 10 years old. Arctic Comfort recommends updating to a system that will keep homes comfortable in the extreme heat of summer.
The older a unit gets, the less it is able to keep temperatures and pocketbooks comfortable. As the system ages, it loses capacity and efficiency and repairs will become necessary more often. Consequently, the longer its replacement is put off, the more the unit is costing in comfort, high electric bills and expensive repairs.
Replacing an air conditioner is an expense that most people want to avoid, but after they do, they will notice the results of having a comfortable home and reduced electric bills and wonder why they hesitated.
Today, an ultra-efficient air conditioning system can save up to 60 percent on cooling costs. Even a standard efficiency can save up to 38 percent. Over the life of an air conditioning system, those savings add up. That is an excellent return on investment.
There is a system for every home and every budget. Depending on the system, most manufacturers are offering rebates up to $1,700 through May, some longer. Some utility companies are offering utility credits up to $800.
May is the perfect time to place an air conditioning system. Take advantage of the available manufacturers rebates and utility credits. Beat the super heat of summer. May is the last month with below 90 degree average high temperatures. A new system can be installed easily before Memorial Day weekend.
Plan ahead; dont suffer through another intolerable super-heated summer. Be comfortable instead. Call Arctic Comfort for a free estimate on an air conditioning system replacement.
About the company: Since 1990, Arctic Comfort Air Conditioning and Heating has provided dependable air conditioning installation, air conditioning repair, heating repair, service, equipment and quality products to Garland and surrounding Dallas area homeowners.
