On the street, inside stores, and now more than ever security cameras are inside homes.
That's because as cameras are getting cheaper and easier to install and homeowners want a live view all the time.

But the question for many remains, when does a security system become an invasion of privacy for friends and family?
When Ken Hall's daughter was born his need for security intensified so he installed a small security camera inside his home.
"It's nice to have that sense of comfort, the sense of security," said Hall.
Thanks to his smartphone, he's got a virtual window to see and hear his family and friends.
He says it took a little while for his wife to adjust to always being on camera while at home.
Privacy attorney Sarah Downey worries about the explosion of these surveillance devices on the market.

Most seniors will no longer have access to a $200 rebate to upgrade their home security after the State Government changed the criteria to make only those who have been burgled this year eligible.
The rebate was introduced in 2009 to give seniors up to $400 to buy security and safety devices, including home intruder alarms, deadlocks, security door screens and fire extinguishers.
Under the new criteria, only seniors whose homes have been broken into since January 1 and who have received the rebate before will be eligible for the $200 previously available to buy security screens and lighting for their homes. All seniors cardholders will still be able to apply for a rebate of up to $200 to buy a personal safety device. More than $8 million in rebates have been paid to 46,000 seniors since the scheme started.
Opposition Leader Mark McGowan says "virtually no one" will now be able to access the rebate for upgrades to home security.
He accused the Government of breaking its promise to increase funding for the safety and security rebate to $15 million to help cover the cost of buying personal safety alarms and help seniors whose homes had been burgled.
"It is ridiculous to have a security rebate scheme that virtually no one can access," Mr McGowan said.
Seniors cardholder Dot Seghezzi, 76, said she was disappointed to hear she was no longer eligible, because she needed a security screen door at the back of her house.
Ms Seghezzi, who lives alone in her home which has been broken into three times, said $200 did not sound like a lot of money but it would make a big difference to her.
"I don't feel safe and I can't open the back windows," she said. "There's no security screen, so I don't open those windows."

AUSTIN (KXAN) Tuesday night, KXAN showed you video of a burglar caught on camera inside an Austin home. The suspect is still on the loose, but the homeowners believe their video surveillance cameras are the reason why the burglar ran away.
Chris Tamez with Allied Security Links says homeowners and businesses are still using alarms systems as a first line of defense, but as technology continues to improve, camera systems are becoming more and more popular.
Weve seen a major shift, said Tamez. Eighty percent of our business used to be alarm systems, now 80 percent of our business is going to be camera systems.
He says the cameras themselves are evolving, too.
Everything that we do is going to be megapixel technology. It allows you to get that crystal clear image that you cant get on some of the older technology systems, said Tamez. These cameras are actually intelligent cameras. So, you can go into each one of these cameras and program whether or not the infrared comes on, which allows you to see at night time.
He says when securing homes, exterior doors are armed with alarms first. Next, is windows. Alarms can activate if the glass breaks. Also, systems can include motion sensors. Any security system can be a good deterrent, but people are changing their minds on cameras, for a greater peace of mind.
Before, they didnt seem to want it, and now its becoming a big deal and helping out and answering a lot of unanswered questions, said Tamez.
The camera systems can really range in price, from a couple thousand dollars, to upwards of $20,000.
The Austin Police Department will actually do a security evaluation on your home. Round Rock and Georgetown police also perform home and business inspections. Pflugerville does security surveys at homes and businesses, as well. Travis County Sheriffs Deputies will also check your home.

Your do-it-yourself home security options are continuing to expand, the latest of which looks like one of the simplest and most affordable yet. It's called Korner, and it wants to keep tabs on your home using a simple, inconspicuous little sensor that's less than 7mm thick. Stick it to your doors and windows, and it'll alert you of any unexpected motion, with an optional ear-splitting screech from the Zigbee fob, along with a prompt to call the police or notify trusted contacts.
A three-sensor Korner kit will ultimately retail for $59, with a yearly fee of $39, but backers of the system's freshly launched Indiegogo campaign will be able to buy Korner for under $100 up front, with no yearly fees for life.
If Korner detects motion while the system is armed, you'll receive an alert on your smartphone, along with the option to notify the police or trusted contacts. Korner
This emphasis on ease-of-use with a low price point puts Korner at the far end of the home security spectrum -- simpler and cheaper than fee-free options like Piper and iSmartAlarm, which are already targeting budget-minded consumers. For others, a system that relies entirely on entry detection likely won't be robust enough, especially when compared with the competition. Korner isn't expected to ship out to Indiegogo backers until December of this year. That timetable seems slightly conservative for such a simple-looking system, but the conservative approach might be a wise one, given the production delays that have plagued crowdfunding darlings like Lockitron, Goji, and Canary. That said, a lot can change in eight months, and with the market evolving so rapidly, some consumers may be reluctant to lock in on a system this far ahead of time.

Mobridge Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Haden Merkel told the Mobridge City Council Monday, April 21, that the time is now to restore the murals at Scherr-Howe Event Center.
Merkel said because some of the timelines for grants secured by former North Central South Dakota Economic Development Director Christine Goldsmith will be expiring in June, the work needs to be done this summer.
We think we are ready to do the restoration, Merkel told the council.
The south wall (with the murals depicting Ceremonies of the Sioux) will be restored and the north wall (depicting History Along the Missouri) will be cleaned and an artist, Nickolas Ward, will refresh the paintings.
In the Chicago Conservatory report on the condition of the murals, concern is expressed for the murals on the north wall. These murals have suffered from water damage from condensation and leaking from the roof, heat, damage from basketballs, and have been extensively repainted. The repainting is heavier and darker than the original and is cut in around the original shapes on the murals.
Structurally, (the murals are painted on a rough cement surface) there are numerous cracks and areas where the walls are deformed. There are also spots where the concrete is crumbling. The far-east mural, Retreat is most severely damaged. This is also the panel that holds Howes signature and the year of the project.
The south walls are in better shape and there will be less repair needed to the structure of the murals, with the exception of where the basketball hoop brackets were anchored. There is also more damage on the western most panel, Social Dance will need the most work because it is within reach of the bleacher crowds. Large cracks near the railing have been repaired, but no restoration work was done on that concrete repair.
She told the council the decision should be made soon in order for Ward, to be secured for the summer. Merkel said she needs to find Ward a place to stay while he is working on the murals, in order to keep the cost of the project down. Having a home to stay in rather than lodging in a hotel would cut back on the cost for his portion of the restoration project.
Mayor Jamie Dietterle asked that Mobridge Chief Finance Officer Heather Beck and City Administrator Steve Gasser review the contracts in order to ensure the grant funding and pledges are available even though the installation of the bathrooms has been put on back burner.
Merkel assured the council Friends of Scherr-Howe (FOSH), the group formed to raise funding for the restoration of the historical building and the murals and to create the community center there, will continue to raise funds to install bathrooms on the main floor of the building.
