State Government Study On Fraser's Hill-Raub Cable Car

    - April 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

RAUB, April 1 (Bernama) -- The Pahang state government will conduct a detailed study first before implementing the cable car project linking Fraser's Hill to Raub soon.

State Cooperative, Entrepreneur and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Shahiruddin Ab Moin said a local company has been appointed to study the project's human and environmental impact.

"The study not only covers the cost but also the environmental and economic impact as well as benefits to the local community," he told Bernama here Tuesday.

Shahiruddin, who is also Raub Umno division head, was commenting on the opposition's allegations that the cable car project would only destroy the environment.

He said the project is expected to boost tourism by attracting local and foreign tourists to the area which would create jobs as well as business opportunities.

He said Fraser's Hill was becoming more popular lately following the upgrading of its infrastructure, lodging facilities and landscape costing millions of ringgit.

The tourist destination reportedly received more than 15,000 visitors a month and the figure was expected to increase upon the completion of the cable car project.

Nationwide Title Clearing, Inc. (NTC) Executives Attend PRIA Winter Symposium, Name eRecording as Key to Industry …

    - April 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Palm Harbor, FL (PRWEB) March 31, 2014

Officials from Nationwide Title Clearing, Inc. (NTC) recently attended the Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) Winter Symposium held in Arlington, VA on February 26-28. NTC, a leading research and document-processing provider for the mortgage and financial industry, was represented by Myron Finley and Brian Ernissee, who were among top mortgage industry leaders and county recording officials who attended the conference.

PRIA, an organization which develops and promotes national standards and practices within the land records industry, holds annual conferences with a goal of providing a venue for industry officials to discuss how to meet local needs with national knowledge. Finley, NTCs Chief Legal Officer, represented the company along with Vice President for Regulatory Compliance, Ernissee, who spoke on a panel at last years conference entitled eRecord from a Submitters Perspective. At the time, eRecordingthe process of filing and recording documents via the Internet as opposed to paperwas a relatively new process, and Ernissee backed initiatives to improve upon the practice and make it widespread, drawing upon NTCs 20 years of experience with property documents.

Several well-regarded speakers were featured at the conference, including Kenneth Gronbach, an expert in demographics and generational marketing, as well as Rob Chapman, President of American Land Title Association (ALTA). Gronbach presented two sessions wherein he looked at the future for the real estate industry, from both a macro and micro perspective, with a special focus on facilitating an understanding of Americas shifting demography and the related opportunities and challenges. Chapman was the featured speaker at the Thursday, February 27, luncheon and spoke about the development of ALTAs Best Practices and their impact on the title industry. According to Finley, both speakers presentations further solidified the importance of adapting industry standards to fit the new compliance landscape; eRecording, in particular, is a major component of best practices, per Finley.

A significant amount of the liability in the industry exists in the gap between the closing of the loan and recording of the documents; thats why eRecording is so important in our industry, Finley said. In our increasingly digital society, an entirely paperless process is the next logical step in ensuring accuracy, as well as compliance.

eRecording differs from traditional recording methods because the original documents never leave ones possessionthey are scanned and submitted within minutes, and are then returned electronically immediately after recording, making processing land records and property documents simple, fast and secure. This process allows documents to be submitted 24/7, and is cost-effective, reducing paperwork.

Finley, who also serves as co-chair of PRIAs Business Processes and Procedures Committee, stated that the conference provided a fresh viewpoint on what is happening within the mortgage industry and the U.S. economy in its entirety; as a result, Finley and Ernissee were able to inform fellow NTC officials about new aspects of the industry, per NTC CEO, John Hillman.

Conferences such as the PRIA Symposium are the perfect forums in which proactive and professional leaders can educate themselves on issues that are impacting our industry, Hillman stated. PRIA sets standards, and that is, to a large measure, what NTC is all about; adopting practices that establish uniformity will help to protect our nations land records, the mortgage industry, and homeowners alike.

NTC, perhaps best known for its expertise in extensive research and document-processing services such as lien release processing, is an advocate for best practices and legislation that standardize the mortgage industry for the betterment of homeowners, land records and the industry at large.

Mum's fury at 1,000 fine for electrician after faulty wiring killed her daughter

    - April 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Emma Shaw, 22, killed by 240 volts from stopcock made live in building blunder but mother Diane Potter brands negligent supervisor's punishment a 'joke'

The mother of a young woman electrocuted by faulty wiring during a flood at her home has told of her fury after the worker responsible was fined just 1,000.

Mum-of-one Emma Shaw, 22, died when she was hit by 240 volts from a stopcock that had become live because of a building blunder. Her one-year-old son Brayden was playing in the lounge when she collapsed

Negligent Neil Hoult, 53, was handed the fine after being found guilty of breaching health and safety rules.

But Emma's mum Diane Potter branded the punishment a joke. She said: I am so very disappointed. It just does not seem right to fine someone only 1,000 for such a terrible thing.

That is a very small price to pay for a death. It has been over six years since I lost Emma and I havent really been able to grieve. But now at last I have closure.

Emma was killed while dealing with a leak from a boiler at her flat, in West Bromwich, West Mids.

She was trying to turn off the stopcock when she was hit by the fatal shock. Investigators found the tap had become live after a screw penetrated an electric cable during construction work at her home.

Hoult, of nearby Rowley Regis, approved and issued a certificate ruling the electrical installations were safe and did not pose any danger.

Emma was found dead in a storage room by her partner Andrew Cross. He had rushed home from work after she sent frantic text messages about a pipe which had fallen off. She told him "the electrics were sparking".

Angie's List: Home improvements you shouldnt avoid

    - April 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

(ANGIE'S LIST) - When it comes to home improvement, we'd all like to spend our money on nice projects transforming the master bath into one that belongs in a hotel suite or turning the backyard into an outdoor oasis that rivals the finest resorts.

But chances are, you'll have to spend some big bucks on unglamorous maintenance projects. While you won't want to show these projects off to the neighbors, they will keep your home healthy.

Homeowner Robyn Meslin isn't posting pictures of her latest home improvement project on Facebook or Pinterest.

After discovering her home's previous owner had done of lot of electrical work himself, she had to call in a professional.

"The basement was pretty much a nightmare. He had finished it himself so there were open electrical boxes down there, switches that didn't turn on and off, anything that we could figure out," says Meslin.

As Meslin knows, home ownership is unpredictable.

Angie Hicks from Angie's List says,"Unfortunately, there are projects that have to be done around your house that you are never going to talk to other people about updating wiring, replacing your roof these are the kind of things that are required to keep your house in good condition, but they are not fun and exciting, but if you don't do these things it's really going to hinder the value of your home and it's resale value."

Here are three unsexy home projects you should never avoid.

    One, repairing the foundation.
