St. Petersburg, Florida -- On Monday, contractors got back to work painting a Pinellas County bridge after 10 News alerted the City of St. Pete about paint chips floating in the water.
The bridge is located at 40th Avenue Northeast heading over Placido Bayou and into Shore Acres and Venetian Isles.
The City stopped its contractors after discovering they were not following regulations when painting parts of the bridge.Since our story aired, the City has tested the water near the bridge and sat down with the contractors about sticking to the regulations.
Today, inspectors were out with the painters, who were just doing some touch ups, and will be back out with them on Tuesday when they start to paint the other side of the bridge.

When Rich Whitaker left the military after 25 years, he was faced with an important question: what should he and his wife Cheryl do now? The answer: open Fresh Coat Painters of Clarksville.
I was transitioning from a career in the Army and we were looking to open a home service business with a reputation for high standards and professionalism. Fresh Coat was appealing because the business affords us the opportunity to serve the community by helping homeowners add value to their house while making it feel more like a home, Rich said.
Fresh Coat offers professional residential and commercial painting services including interior and exterior painting, wood staining and refinishing, wallpaper removal and many other services for nearly every protective coating application. They use quality, environmentally safe materials and offer a live 24/7 customer service center, online scheduling and free detailed quotes. Fresh Coat Painters of Clarksville serves Clarksville, Hopkinsville, Fort Campbell, Woodlawn, Pleasant View and the surrounding area.
Rich is looking forward to bringing a new level of customer service to the painting industry in the Clarksville community.
Well take the pain out of painting. Finding a painting company that will answer their business line or return a call can sometimes be a frustrating experience by itself. When customers call Fresh Coat Clarksville, theyll talk to our customer service center and have an appointment for me to look at the job within minutes. And, I guarantee that well be on time and the job will be done right, Rich said.
In addition to the 24-hour service, Fresh Coat offers a 3-3-3 pledge, which means that customers calls are answered by a live person within three minutes, a free quote is delivered within three days (customer schedule permitting) and the job will start no later than three weeks from the day of quote.
Instead of using sub-contractors, Fresh Coat hires full-time painters to do the work, which Rich knows will make a difference to people in the Clarksville area.
We will hire some of the areas most talented painters and provide them a full-time job with benefits. With great, on-staff painters and Fresh Coat Clarksvilles commitment to quality, well raise the level of quality and consistency for the painting trade in our area, he said.
Rich and Cheryl met in their hometown of Island, Kentucky and have been married for 26 years. They have three children Truman, Andrew, and Catherine and make their home in east Clarksville.

PIONEER - A half-dozen men illegally operating as contractors were cited during an undercover sting operation conducted last Tuesday in Pioneer by the Contractors State License Board with assistance from Amador County District Attorney's Office investigators and the California Department of Insurance.
During the eight-hour sting, officers held one suspect at gunpoint after he refused to cooperate, ran from investigators, locked himself in his vehicle and made threatening movements. Another suspect was found to be on probation for making terrorists threats, while still another was found to have a prior criminal history as a sex offender. Two suspects had been arrested in previous CSLB stings, officials said.
"Inviting an unlicensed contractor into your home is like playing with a stick of dynamite; definitely not worth the risk," license board Registrar Steve Sands said.
"You always should check CSLB's website - cslb.ca.gov - to see if the person bidding on your job has an active contractor license that is in good standing," Sands said. Or people can call (800) 321-2757.
The license board's fraud team held the sting at a single-family home in the Gold Country town of Pioneer, along Highway 88. Investigators requested bids for deck repair, landscaping and exterior painting. High bids received during the sting were $6,000 for deck repair and a $4,200 bid for exterior paint. Suspected unlicensed operators were found advertising on fliers, newspapers and online bulletin boards, including Craigslist.
All six suspects received misdemeanor citations for contracting without a license. Four suspects were cited on a misdemeanor charge of illegal advertising. Those receiving notices to appear are scheduled for arraignment at 8 a.m. April 7 in Amador County Superior Court, 500 Argonaut Lane, Jackson. They are: Armand Leo Chournard of West Point; Robert Darin Kintigh of Cool; Matthew Brian Ramos of Jamestown; Gary Jack Shroyer of Pioneer; Don A. Sternick of Sutter Creek; and Michael Joseph Vasquez of Jamestown.

Traditional path lights may leave a garden yawning, but when it comes to Wind & Weathers spring collection of solar outdoor lighting, the yard will be ready for guests and visitors to drop in at any moment.
Wind & Weathers path light collection produces zero carbon emissions, making them a stylish, sustainable choice for landscapers and homeowners. In the article How Can I Reduce My Impact?, the EPA states using less energy means power plants generate less, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and improves air quality.
A U.S. leader in solar LED outdoor lighting, SOL, Inc.s blog article Safety and Sustainability Through Solar Lighting states the demand of electricity is expected to increase by 18 percent while generation capacity is predicted to grow by only 6 percent. Adding solar path lights to a home are an obvious and easy choice, because the lights produce 100 percent of their own electricity, therefore eliminating the cost of the consumer, and the planet, to power them.
Birgitt Thornhill, Product Manager of Wind & Weather, is very excited about this new eco-friendly lighting collection. Here at Wind & Weather, we specialize in whimsy. We try to bring enchantment to the yard in all forms. I chose and developed these products to give traditional garden path lighting an irresistible, whimsical appeal.
Try these three styles of solar path lights to enhance an outdoor living space with a more eco-friendly design:
1. Hand-Blown Solar Lava Lanterns Artfully hanging from a tree, shepherds hook or sitting on a garden wall, these beehive-shaped lanterns add a pop of color to your outdoor oasis during the day and deliver a color-changing, LED glow at night. These swirled glass lanterns also make unique table centerpieces for backyard BBQs or spring parties.
2. Enchanting Butterfly Solar Lanterns With Shepherds Hooks This pair of lanterns, found only at Wind & Weather is easy to install in any flowerbed or lawn. Our Butterfly Lanterns combine a classic design with a whimsical look. Inspired by traditional punched tin lanterns, this solar lighting is durable enough to light your pathways or walkways year-round.
3. Glass Solar Rose or Spider Flower Stakes Exquisitely detailed, these solar roses and spider flowers will safely illuminate your garden paths, patio walkways or homes entryway while serving as conversational outdoor accents. The lifelike blooms, crafted of glass, are supported by a metal garden stakes and release a white LED glow in the dark.
