COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) The third major restaurant chain in 18 months announces plans to come to Columbus. Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is finalizing plans for construction by next year on a 8,900-square-foot restaurant on 18th Avenue North across from Logans Restaurant. The restaurant will be visible from busy Highway 82 at the 18th Avenue exit. The restaurant will join nearby Chik-fil-a and Logans as well as a hotel complex across the street. Longhorn Steakhouse joins those two in opening in the last 18 months. Krispy Kreme also joins the group. Cracker Barrel representatives already have begun working with the state Department of transportation on access plans from 18th Avenue. The chain has 600 restaurants in 42 states and the Columbus outlet will be one of the few not on an actual interstate. The company looked a coming to Columbus more than a decade ago but the deal fell through.
