Carroll decks Cl. Prairie with late 15-0 run - March 5, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

SHARPSVILLE Down 47-42 after a Clinton Prairie 3-pointer in the fourth quarter, Carrolls boys basketball team found itself staring at its biggest deficit of the game.

The Cougars didnt panic, or deviate from their course at all. They just got sharper.

Carroll responded with a 9-0 run to take the lead and never trailed again in posting a 73-60 victory over Prairie in the opening game of the Class A Tri-Central Sectional on Tuesday night.

Prairie trimmed the lead to 51-50 but Carroll (11-11) delivered a knockout blow with a 15-0 run that started with 3:58 left.

We just stuck with the game plan, and that was to go inside and make sure they pay for not being able to guard us in the post, Carroll coach Matt Weaver said. [Prairie] did a good job of helping in the first half, but we just stayed with it.

Carroll got a game-high 29-point effort from center Jarin Bush, 20 from post forward Brandon Dillon and another 10 from forward Seth Eldridge as the Cougars moved the ball to make an effort to score in the post, or on layups from a free man in the paint.

We had a couple guys who had four or five assists from the guard spot and thats crucial, Weaver said. Carroll got alert passing from guards Derik Caldwell and Justin Willoughby. When you have those kinds of numbers and you see that kind of passing, thats team basketball at its finest.

To take out Prairie [7-13], Carroll needed to quell the Gophers ability to hit from the outside. Kale Morris had four 3s in the first half but just one in the second half. Drew Scott had five treys, all in the second half, but two came in the final 90 seconds after Carroll had established a double-digit lead.

Carroll hit an efficient 27 of 51 from the field and had a 19-of-25 performance at the free-throw line. Carroll was 17 of 19 from the line in the fourth quarter, including four straight technical foul shots from Eldridge. The Prairie bench drew two technical fouls with 2:18 left after a Carroll hoop made the score 57-50.

We were able to convert at the free-throw line, which is a big improvement for us, Weaver said. Youre going to have to hit free throws if youre going to win the sectional.

Mold in Dayton Public Housing Prompts Protest, My Cleaning Products Suggests Two Sprays to Help the Public Kill Mold … - March 5, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Dayton, OH (PRWEB) March 05, 2014

According to the residents of a public housing in Dayton, the mold in the building was deteriorating their health. And based on a report from springfieldnewssun.com dated March 03, 2014, that prompted the tenants to protest. In connection with it, My Cleaning Products recommended two organic-based sprays to help the public kill mold fast, easy and safe.

The report related that the protest took place on Friday and was joined by half a dozen tenants of the said high-rise public housing. It detailed that they were particularly asking the authorities to solve the problem and to do it right.

It was said in the report that the Greater Dayton Premier Management and the landlord of the housing, as the residents stated, did not respond to the mold complaints, hence, the protests. Nevertheless, officials of the housing agency responded that they already spent $1 million to fix problems, which included mold after a pipe burst in 2011. Moreover, its new director, Danyelle S.T. Wright, assured that the problem would be solved.

Below is a part of the post Dayton Housing Complaints Take to the Streets Their Mold Complaints by My Cleaning Products.

The residents of one public housing in Dayton have had enough of the mold problem in their building. And so, with signs to admonish the authorities' response to their complaints, they protested.

On Friday, some half a dozen residents of the high-rise Wilkinson Plaza took to the streets their grievances. One resident named Pamela Moss said that her health became worse because of the fungus' presence. Another resident, Dennis Boddie, expressed the same thing.

MCP said that mold is a big threat to health. And because of that, it commented that the residents of the reported mold-affected housing had a good reason to react the way they did.

Stating that mold grows anywhere before one could know about it, the company also gave the public two advises on how to avoid its negative health effects. Particularly, it advised everyone to take preventive steps. And, if ever it already contaminated a place, it stressed that one must get rid of mold quickly to prevent the worst of the problems it could bring.

However, for a mold removal that is prompt, safe and effective, My Cleaning Products asserted that it would be best to get the help of Molderizer and Safe Shield. As it reasoned, that's because both are effective even without harsh chemicals in its content unlike the conventional mold sprays.

Nanaimo pushes sewer connection for Green Lake residents - March 5, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Green Lake residents will have two years to hook into the municipal sewer system before Nanaimo officials crack down on stragglers.

Nanaimo city council opted to phase in fees and give Green Lake-area residents more time to connect to a new municipal sewer system, during an open meeting last week.

The move will give 27 landowners until 2016 to hook into the sewer service before they are given warning notices. People will also see a gradual increase in connection costs instead of an immediate $1,800 charge, beginning in March. The city originally agreed to waive the $1,800 connection fee until Feb. 28.

The move defers the time when the city is going and [issuing 180-day] notices to connect and allows people a bit more time to find ways to connect both financially and technically, said Poul Rosen, the citys manager of engineering projects.

By the same token, it also increases the cost to people that have waited.

The City of Nanaimo agreed to install sewer services in the Green Lake area in 2011, almost four decades after amalgamation. There were concerns aging septic systems could be affecting the health of the lake.

It is now mandatory for residents to join the system.

As of this week, the city will charge $600 for connection fees and put notes on property files that limit building permits and subdivisions. The charge will increase to $1,200 in 2015.

So far the majority of landowners 71 of the potential 98 have joined the system or are in the process of hooking in. Some people have claimed making the connection will impose a financial hardship, while others say they already have a system that works and dont plan on using the city system. There will be stragglers, said Rosen, adding the city will eventually need to find a way to deal with them.

The waiver program has cost the city approximately $130,000 in lost revenue, while $1.5 million has been spent on design and construction of the new system.

Sharpsburg driver, Hampton man charged in aftermath of crash - March 5, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Published: Wednesday, March 5, 2014, 12:46a.m. Updated 10 hours ago

A Sharpsburg man faces multiple charges after allegedly crashing his car into two porches and a parked car on Guys Run Road in Harmar and running away.

Taylor J. Rodgers, 21, of Eighth Street was arraigned before District Judge David Sosovicka on Tuesday morning after turning himself in. He's charged with three misdemeanor counts of accidents involving damage to attended vehicles or property, reckless driving, tampering with physical evidence and criminal conspiracy.

According to police records, Rodgers was speeding from Freeport Road around 2 a.m. Saturday when he lost control of his red BMW SUV in the 800 block of Guys Run Road.

Police estimate he was driving about 50 mph when the SUV demolished two rowhouse porches and slammed into a parked car.

Resident Lorie Seiler, who owns the totalled Ford Fusion, said Rodgers pleaded with her not to call the police as she reported the incident to 911. According to Seiler, Rodgers said he was drunk and took off on foot through the woods behind the rowhouses.

Seiler told police that a white SUV pulled up minutes later. The male driver reportedly took a backpack from Rodgers' crashed BMW before returning to his SUV across the street when police arrived.

The man identified himself as Tyler Bajus, 21, of Hampton, and told police he was an uninvolved observer. After witnesses informed police that he was in Rodgers' car, Bajus confessed to knowing Rodgers and removing the backpack, which police say contained marijuana.

Bajus was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence, obstructing the administration of law, hindering apprehension or prosecution and marijuana possession all misdemeanors. His hearing is scheduled for Monday before Sosovicka.

Rodgers' preliminary hearing before Sosovicka is scheduled for the same day. Bajus and Rodgers were released on their own recognizance.

Contractor of the Year Award Winner Announced - March 5, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Elegant Interior Designs in Ambler, Pa., was recently named the 2014 Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for its residential bathroom project in the $30,000-$60,000 range. The firms founder, Pamela Kofsky, partnered with Tom Hawks of Total Home Solution on the project, which focused on updating and enlarging a tiny bath through the use of double sinks, a vanity tower, a sitting area, pocket shelves, a toiletry shelf, a larger shower with multiple showerheads, a soaking tub and a separate toilet room.

The inspiration for the design came from the way the client described how she wanted her space to look and feel, which was very relaxing, yet beautiful, said Kofsky.

When asked what tips she would give to other designers who are planning to enter, she advised to take good before and after pictures and to determine the judging criteria ahead of time.

Its important to have a very well-written story that clearly explains what you did and how you solved the clients problems, added Kofsky.

She also noted a few challenges she comes across during her renovations.

When its not a complete redo, it can be difficult working with some of the things the clients already have and want utilized in the project, she said. Another challenge occurs when the client doesnt realize how unrealistic HGTV can be with the price and timeline to complete a project.

Kofskys winning project took about a month to complete, including the design and selection process.

The clients were on a tight timeline, as they were expecting their first child and moving into a new home with little time to spare, she said. The renovation started two days after they moved in just before the arrival of the new baby.
