LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas -- A Tornado Warning was issued for parts of Liberty County after a storm spotter reported seeing a funnel cloud, emergency officials said.
Some residents reported that their fences were knocked down along with some trees. KHOU11 viewer Brandi Wagner said her pickup was damaged when a large part of a tree fell outside her home.
There were no reports of major damage, however, and the Tornado Warning was allowed to expire about an hour later.
It all started around 11:30 a.m. Friday. The Liberty County Office of Emergency Management said troopers spotted a possible tornado near FM 1008. It was seen moving along 321 near FM 1008 not far from Dayton.
The tornado was over a wooded area.
"There were no reports of damage from the tornado that touched down earlier. We're basically asking folks to monitor the media, and if people can, they need to seek out strong shelter," said Tom Branch with Liberty County OEM.
