Wasteland – Welcome to Pirate’s Roost, Pobeda – Video - December 13, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Wasteland - Welcome to Pirate #39;s Roost, Pobeda
A glimpse of what can be achieved in the Wasteland mission featured in ArmA II. This base was completely player constructed and was only about 45% completed. It was planned to have HESCO walls to encompass the entire complex and for the base to extend down towards the lake shore. Before one could even reach the main compound, they would have to pass a small guard station that included a pillbox with an .50 caliber machine gun, guard tower and a barn with roof access for snipers. The alternative route was behind the dam, through dark, open forest that contrasted most all camouflage. At the main section, every defending wall could be looked and shot over from the inside and due to the slant of the hillside, 203/GP-25/RPG rounds had a flatter firing solution and thus could fly farther and more accurately. The fortress was stocked with enough food and water to sustain its occupants for a very long time (hours in this case) and boasted a menagerie of cargo and armed vehicles fit for off-road travel. What wasn #39;t blocked by walls was steep incline that attackers would have to walk up making them easy pickings. Welcome to Pirates Roost. Population: Us. Enemies: You. The Ratcliffe Condos, Charlotte, NC – Video - December 13, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

    The Ratcliffe Condos, Charlotte, NC
liveuptownnow.com Scott Hartis Broker/REALTOR NC SC HM Properties 704-756-7862 Hi, I #39;m Scott Hartis and today I #39;m going to help you explore The Ratcliffe, one of Uptown Charlotte #39;s few luxury condo buildings. Stay tuned to find out why this building has been home to professional sports players, former Charlotte Bobcat owners, architects, and business owners. This condo building, located in Uptown Charlotte #39;s 2nd Ward, at 435 S. Tryon Street overlooks The Green. The Green is an open park that has been home to a winter ice skating rink, theater, outdoor art exhibits and even yoga. The Ratcliffe condos are some of the most private, luxury condos in Uptown Charlotte. You can literally pull into the building #39;s secure parking garage, into your assigned space or spaces, and take the elevator directly to your condo floor. When I am there, I rarely see residents unless I am in the lobby and one of the residents comes down to walk their dog, check their mail, or head out to dinner. I think this is what makes the building so attractive to owners that want privacy! What you are seeing now is a one bedroom condo that I sold in the building earlier this year. This particular condo is actually one of the smaller in the building and has the original finishes from when the condo was built. Many condos in The Ratcliffe have actually been updated with even more current finishes. If you #39;re curious about what condos are available in The Ratcliffe, take a look at the info below this video ...From:Scott HartisViews:1 0ratingsTime:01:37More inPeople Blogs

American Sign Museum – Video - December 13, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

    American Sign Museum
This is a short video from inside the American Sign Museum. The Chief and I took a tour led by curator Tod Swormstedt, who was extremely knowledgable in answering all our questions about "googie signage". Starting in the 1950 #39;s, the public became captivated by new technologies like rocket ships and nuclear energy. To draw their attention, architects began using these as motifs in their work. The Satellite Shopland "sputnik" was the creation of Clarence Meddock, the landlord of an Anaheim, California shopping mall. In the mid-60 #39;s, he built the rotating sphere in his garage after several unsuccessful attempts at getting a sign company to build it to his exacting specifications. Much to the dismay of retro sign fans, the sign was torn down in 1994 as part of Disneyland #39;s "beautification" campaign.From:keith011764Views:3 0ratingsTime:00:20More inTravel Events

Moseley Architects Expands Industry Presence; BeeryRio Brings Senior Living Market, National and International Clients - December 13, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Moseley Architects and BeeryRio unite to become a larger strategic player in the industry.

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) December 12, 2012

As one of the largest architectural and engineering firms on the east coast, Moseley Architects revenue places the firm in the top ten percent of the profession nationally. Due to the firms full-service offerings, Moseley Architects has the capacity and resources to attract more clients while continuing to serve existing BeeryRio clients.

BeeryRio is a national leader in the design of senior housing, with revenues ranking among the top five firms in that field nationally. This focus brings a national and international presence to the merger through clients in the District of Columbia and 14 states extending to the west coast, as well as the United Kingdom, Canada, and Germany.

Moseley Architects President Stewart D. Roberson believes that this step is natural for the firm. "This merger is consistent with the strategy the firm has utilized throughout its successful evolution: penetrate new markets while expanding our geographic footprint. Now, Moseley Architects builds on its substantial mid-Atlantic public sector portfolio by extending the firm's reach to much of the nation and abroad as a result of our senior living design expertise."

Both firms serve clients in the greater Washington, DC, area, including Montgomery County in Maryland and Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in Virginia. As such, this merger further strengthens Moseley Architects capabilities to serve both existing and new clients in this growing region.

Throughout these many months of conversation, our staff has been repeatedly impressed with the prospects for future growth and opportunity that exist by aligning our firm with Moseley Architects strong record of performance, said William T. Brown, BeeryRios President.

Establishing a DC area presence has been an important goal for Moseley Architects for several years, particularly due to the firms growing client base in the region. As such, BeeryRios location on the Capital Beltway helps meet that objective. Given Moseley Architects history focusing on the public sector, the recent recession has highlighted the need to diversify the firms portfolio. Embracing BeeryRios major foothold in the senior living market is a strong step in that direction.

Joining with BeeryRio offers our firm an even greater depth of resources to serve our clients, and new and exciting opportunities for collaboration among our employees. It also strengthens our position as a recognized leader in educational facility design, said James McCalla, Moseley Architects Vice President and Director of Operations.

The name of the merged firms will be Moseley Architects. The existing governance structure of Moseley Architects will remain in place and BeeryRio officers will become shareholders.

After the property boom, lean times for Spanish architects - December 13, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Architects who reigned supreme during Spain's housing boom, presiding over fast-changing skylines, are picking up the pieces from the country's property crash.

No longer tracing the lines of new towns and gleaming new towers, many look back on the housing frenzy with regret, and some are fleeing the country to find work.

Housing activity in the recession-struck country has declined by about 90 percent since the bubble burst in 2008, said Alexia Maniega, secretary general of the Spanish Architects' Union.

Unemployment in the sector is close to 27 percent, she said, topping even the nation's overall jobless rate of 25 percent, which is the highest in modern Spanish history.

The slump is all the more difficult because of the heights that architects once reached.

The anonymous brick-coloured housing developments that mushroomed around Spain's cities for more than a decade were among the most striking symbols of the bubble.

Architects were able to give full rein to their creativity with each town vying to put up its own emblematic building.

"You would send your CV to studios you wanted to work with, but the others would call you and make you an offer," remembers 35-year-old architect Laura Gonzalez.

At the time, spending at least seven years in university to become an architect seemed like a good investment.

    No longer.
