El Cajon Flooring Company Introduces Hassle-Free Home Flooring Replacements - October 13, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Replacing home flooring can be a distressing and difficult experience for homeowners. Lance's flooring introduces a vast array of options including hardwood, laminate, stone, tile or carpets as part of their new Home Flooring Replacements Special.

San Diego, Ca (PRWEB) October 13, 2012

We understand how stressful it is to make a decision on what type of flooring fits certain rooms or areas of your house. Thinking about installation options only adds to the anxiety, Murphy states.

He points out, You wont have to worry about the technique of installation for your flooring choice, once you decide for us to install it. All you have to focus on is making a decision on the type of flooring and we will take care of everything beyond that.

There are different ways to install flooring and they are dependent on the kind of flooring that needs to be installed or replaced. For hardwood flooring, installation can be done through the floating technique, by nailing down or glued down.

Carpet installation can be done through stretch-in, double glue-down or direct glue-down installation. Stretch-in installation shouldnt be done in areas with extreme humidity or on inclines and ramps. Carpets with unitary backing or those with backing systems meant for glue-down installation should never be installed using the stretch-in method as well.

We will properly and professionally install your flooring choice for you and your family to enjoy for years at an affordable cost, Murphy says.

Renovating homes or replacing old floors has been made easier and simpler by Lances Flooring. They bring their showroom right into clients homes, so they can conveniently choose the kind of carpet, hardwood or laminate that goes best with their interiors. The flooring company does not charge their customers for this and they provide ample time for decisions to be made without putting any obligation on the customers shoulder.

Murphy pronounces, It is our intention to provide complete satisfaction to our customers. We do this through giving a wall to wall service and custom installation like no other.

The best thing about our services is that you dont have to go to the store and stand in line to see a flooring sample. We bring everything to your home. Plus, we install the flooring of your choice according to your needs and specifications, he adds.

NyloBoard Introduces NyloDeck® – Next Generation Composite Decking - October 12, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Unique Recycled Carpet Fiber Composition Sets New Standard for Decking Material Properties

Covington, GA (PRWEB) October 11, 2012

    The non-composite composite

The new NyloDeck is like no other decking material available, and not just because it looks naturally beautiful, said Doug Morse, president and COO of NyloBoard. We call it the non-composite composite deck board, because unlike virtually every other option available, NyloDeck contains NO wood or PVC and it isnt a cap stock product that can be easily compromised. It is impervious to moisture, rotting, termites, mold and mildew and possesses excellent strength, durability and performance qualities.

Eco-friendly NyloDeck is made using recycled carpet fibers and VOC-free bonding resins, along with UV protection via a patented manufacturing process. A 15 x 30 NyloDeck actually contains enough recycled fiber to carpet an average size home. The result is an exceptionally strong, yet lightweight, color-through board available in a range of popular colors.

NyloDeck was initially rolled out as a concept in 2010, and was named a 2010 Top Ten Green Building Product from GreenSpec Directory and Environmental Building News. It was extremely well received as the decking material for Professional Builders Show Village in early 2012, said Craig Jacks, vice president, Sales and Marketing at NyloBoard. Since then, the company has conducted rigorous testing and taken advantage of the latest manufacturing advancements to ensure a long-lasting, high performing product that is completely unique, yet priced competitively with other premium decking materials, noted Jacks.

With a comprehensive 25-year warranty, NyloDeck has met the high standard of ICC AC 174 compliance and has received its CCRR 0183 with both a 16/100 and 24/100 span rating. In addition, NyloDeck has some of the best thermal expansion and contraction rates of all decking materials, which means it performs extremely well in temperature fluctuations. NyloBoard products have also received the highest possible ratings in mold resistance (ASTM D 3274), fungal resistance (ASTM D1413), and termite resistance (AWPA E197), as verified by these standard testing methods.

A proprietary embossing process creates natural looking, unique grains on every board that are stain resistant and simple to clean and maintain. NyloDeck does not splinter, warp, peel or pit. It does not require pre-drilling and industry leading fasteners can be used for easy installation. Strength and rigidity enable board lengths up to 24 that can span joists up to 24 on center.

    Proven reliability and performance

As a custom builder for buyers who want the latest and the best features for their homes, Im always looking for new, yet reliable and eco-friendly products that are on the leading edge in composition and technology, said Dan Mitchell, president, Eagle CDI, a builder of large-scale top-quality custom homes in Tennessee. I found NyloDeck to be the perfect combination of performance, strength and great looks. My team likes working with NyloDeck because its lightweight, yet strong and very easy to install, and NyloBoard provides hands-on, personal customer service from start to finish.

At pizza place, nobody getting rich on video gambling - October 11, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Every Wednesday during these tough economic times, Rosatis of Lakemoor lures its lunch crowd with a half-price pasta special. Regular customer Todd McCarthy opts for the $3 pizza slice deal, but ends up spending 18 bucks this time.

Grabbing a bite before starting his second shift as a deliver truck driver, the 24-year-old Wauconda resident enjoys his pizza and then wanders into Rosatis new video gaming lounge, where he loses $15 in 15 minutes playing the new gambling games now operating legally at 66 restaurants and bars across the state, with hundreds more on the verge of opening.

Thats the way it goes with video poker, shrugs McCarthy, who says he is a regular customer at area casinos. Im glad I didnt bring a lot of money in here. I didnt know these things were open yet.

During this first lunch hour with gambling on the Rosatis menu, most customers are here just to eat. Rosatis is a neighborhood place that attracts working people, families, senior citizens, kids sports teams, birthday parties and NASCAR fans on race days, says Anthony Patti, the 63-year-old co-owner. He was a full-time carpet contractor in Bloomingdale when he got into the restaurant business in 2005 as a way to supplement his carpet income. Now carpet installation is his part-time job.

In 2008, when everything dumped, it was a struggle to stay in business, says Patti, who lives in Lakemoor now and saw nearby businesses fold up shop. The gambling is a sideline to help out a little.

Among the first Illinois business owners granted a license for video gambling, Patti figures he spent about $10,000 to turn what had been his office into a nicely carpeted lounge big enough for five machines and a stool in front of each, with a window and a glass door that locks.

I hired a few extra people, too, Patti says, noting that, by law, someone 21 or older and approved by the Illinois Gaming Board must always monitor the room to make sure no underage people try to gamble. His wall already boasts a certificate from the village and police department for not serving alcohol to minors.

We hired six part-time people to help in all parts of the restaurant, notes Patti, who says he hopes the video games will attract more diners and allow him to stay open later.

By state statute, each of the five machines accepts a maximum of $100 at a time, allows bettors to wager anywhere from a penny to $2 on a play, and pays out a maximum of $500 for each jackpot. The machines, which offer a variety of games, operate on cash but print winnings (or money that wasnt lost) on a voucher that is fed into a heavily secured ATM-like machine that spits out the winnings and records every transaction.

The machinery and security cameras for Rosatis cost about $100,000, says Lynne Morris, the CEO of Morris Gaming in Skokie, one of the vendors licensed to put in systems around the state.

Welcome Back: The New Four Seasons Hotel Toronto Soars as the Canadian Brand's New Flagship - October 7, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

TORONTO, Oct. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In the city where it all began, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts now comes full circle with the opening of its new flagship in Toronto, Canada.

    (Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20121005/CG87497)

"This is a proud moment for everyone at Four Seasons at the new Hotel, at our corporate offices, and certainly at all our locations around the world," says Katie Taylor, president and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. "The future is here now, in this new flagship, and in the thousands of employees around the world committed to raising the bar for luxury hospitality."

The new Four Seasons Hotel Toronto rises above its prime Yorkville Avenue address at the corner of Bay Street. Sweeping into the drive (heated for Canadian winters, of course) past Claude Cormier's visionary roseless rose garden, guests circle the grand fountain designed exclusively for this space. Alighting on a 12-colour mosaic with a floral overlay from the etched glass canopy above, the urban "carpet" is the creation of Cormier and Hotel interior designer Yabu Pushelberg, inspired by the Persian rugs popular in the Victorian era as a nod to Yorkville's more traditional architecture.

Inside, a dandelion motif carries visitors through a series of grand spaces and dimensional screens, with the most striking installation at the reception desk and centrepiece table by artist Alissa Coe. Rich book-matched wood panelling, hand-painted walls, precision-cut stone floors and bespoke carpet inlays form a gallery for more than 1,700 works commissioned from Canadian artists displayed throughout the Hotel. The collection expresses contemporary Canadian culture subtly through the art of Attila Richard Lukacs, Daniel Hutchinson and others in paintings, ceramics, wood installations and sculptures.

The property, owned by HRH Prince Al Waleed bin Talal's Kingdom Holding Company, was designed by architectsAlliance, and built by Menkes Construction Ltd with interior design by Yabu Pushelberg.

State of the Art: Four Seasons Guest Rooms, Suites and Residences

Four Seasons continues its tradition of leading-edge hospitality with recent introductions including the 15-Minute Room Service menu, complimentary in-room wireless internet, WiFi in hotel cars and a dedicated Guest Experience Manager, responsible for making sure every stay is memorable. Before guests lay their heads down on their signature Four Seasons bed in one of the 259 rooms and suites at Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, they might pull up an ergonomically-designed chair to an oversized des with ample outlets close at hand, and grab a cuppa from the in-room Nespresso machine. Or, they might use one of the iPads provided in every room to order room service, book a Spa treatment or shop online.

In the guest bathrooms, indulgence is the order of the day with the signature Vicolo Fiori scent by Etro of Milan toiletries, custom-made fast-filling bathtubs, silent-close toilet seats, and tv screens hidden in mirrors.

"Over the years, the desire to actually live at Four Seasons was often heard from our guests," says Regional Director of Residences Valerie Faivre. "For a lucky few, that wish is coming true at the adjacent Four Seasons Private Residences built by Menkes Construction Ltd. and designed by Canadian star Brian Gluckstein, with full access to all our Hotel amenities and services."

Magical carpet ride at the Gardner Museum - October 6, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Are works of art objects of great skill and beauty or the thoughts and feelings they stimulate?

At the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, the Raqs Media Collective explores that question through a new exhibit that inspires profound questions about the role of art and technology in a media-saturated age.

Titled "The Great Bare Mat & Constellation, two installations by a trio of artists based in New Delhi, India, are at once, provocative, bewildering and illuminating.

Their first work is a hand-woven carpet in Calderwood Hall placed before "The Vinegar Tasters, a 17th-century Japanese screen from the museums collection. The screen depicts the ancient sages, Buddha, Confucius and Laozi, founders of three major Oriental philosophies, sampling vinegar beneath a pine tree.

While the screens image suggests, perhaps, the sages disparate teachings lead down similar paths to enlightenment, the carpets motif is far more conceptual and esoteric.

Woven by expert Bulgarian weavers, the carpets design references the heavenly constellation known as "Ursa Major, or The Great Bear, against a drawing that traces connections among three computers of Raqs members and the outside world during one hours time.

Raqs members said the intricate designs on the carpet reflect the complexity of contemporary communication contrasted against the elemental simplicity of stargazing.

Pieranna Cavalchini, curator of contemporary art at the Gardner, said the carpet will be "a space for conversation by visitors and a series of four scheduled "exchanges over the next four months. Each exchange will feature four speakers with a Raqs member as moderator, focusing on a theme such as "What does intelligence do to us (Oct. 25) or "Why does music move us. (Dec. 8)

The second installation in the Special Exhibition Gallery is a silent animated video that features images of mythical figures of beasts, birds and monsters made from art in the Gardners collection photographed by Raqs members.

Running in a silent loop, the animated video resembles Wayang, the Indonesian shadow puppet theater that relates traditional folktales using the shadows cast by puppets against a backlit screen.

A Living Room In The Sky, Built Around One Of NYC's Most Famous Statues - October 2, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

The 120-year-old statue of Christopher Columbus, ensconced 70 feet above Columbus Circle with unobstructed views of Central Park and no neighbors, enjoys one of the sweetest real estate deals in Manhattan. But this month, after more than a century of solitude, several thousand New Yorkers are coming to visit.

Yesterday, Japanese artist Tatzu Nishi unveiled Discovering Columbus, a fully functional living room built around the 13-foot-tall statue. Commissioned by the Public Art Fund and supported by the city, the installation is two years in the making, and completely worth the wait. Visitors who reserve free tickets (here) access the space by climbing up six stories of scaffolding and entering through a mundane-looking foyer, which opens onto an 810-square-foot living room. Columbus is dead center, striking a hand-on-hip pose that looks oddly contemporary, amidst the plush carpet and humming flatscreen. A stack of fashion magazines sit next to a purple velvet couch. You can practically kick up your feet on Christopher.

The Bloomingdales-furnished room is worth noting, particularly for the Toile wallpaper Nishi designed himself. The pink paper is decorated with gold-embossed doodles of American icons--Michael Jackson, McDonalds, a hot dog--that made an early impression on Nishi as a kid watching TV in Japan. Eventually, when the installation closes in October, the gaudily decorated space will host a team of preservationists, tasked with restoring Christophers pollution-weathered features.

This is Nishis first installation in North America, but it builds on a decade of similar projects in Asia and Europe. In Ghent he built a hotel around a historic clocktower, while in Singapore he built a bedroom around a massive statue of a Merlion. Nishis work is delightfully accessible on one level (who doesnt want to hang out with Christopher Columbus?), and on another, it offers a deft bit of cultural commentary: The artist says his work addresses the privatization of public spaces, by turning public monuments into decorative items of the private space. Its a natural fit in New York, a city where POPS abound and the rent is forever too-damn-high.

Therein lies the odd cognitive dissonance of Discovering Columbus. The statue was built by Italian-Americans in 1892, as a populist celebration of American immigrants everywhere. The statue Mayor Bloomberg introduced yesterday is a celebration of a very different class of New Yorker. Like the first Americans, middle class New Yorkers have long since vacated the premises--though now, high above one of the richest zip codes in the city, theyre welcome to stop by for a visit.

From the first meeting with Bloomingdales, I said I would like to make a living room which is in typically American taste, Nishi told The New York Times. And they sort of laughed, because they have only expensive furniture.

Free passes for Discovering Columbus, which closes on October 20th, can be reserved here.
