Decks cleared for PVP to join YSR Congress - December 26, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Industrialist and Chairman and Managing Director of PVP Ventures Potluri Vara Prasad is all set to formally join the YSR Congress Party on January 26.

According to party insiders, he is likely to be the party candidate for Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat. Mr. Prasad, who hails from the Kamma community, could get good support in Krishna District the party believes and party president Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy is also believed to be in favour of giving ticket to a person from this dominant community in the region. Vijayawada Parliamentary constituency comprises Tiruvuru, Nandigama, Mylavaram, Jaggayyapeta, Vijayawada (West), Vijayawada (Central) and Vijayawada (East) Assembly segments and of them Tirivuru and Nandigama are reserved for Scheduled Castes. According to a prominent party leader here, though the Jagan factor will play a huge role in the 2014 elections, the caste equations will also be a major factor, the party leaders believe. Mr. Prasad will face stiff opposition from the TDP candidate, Kesineni Srinivas (Nani), who also hails from the same community. If the Congress continues to bank on the sitting MP Lagadapati Rajgopal, it will be a battle between the three from the same community.

It is believed that voters from the two reserved segments and those from the BC communities would be the deciding factor. In Machilipatanam Parliamentary constituency, the sudden death of Kukkala Nageswara Rao, who was the likely MP candidate, has put the YSR Congress in a spot. The party is scouting for a new candidate and two names making the rounds are: Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) and the late Nageswara Raos eldest son Venkata Vidyasagar. Penamaluru, Gannavaram, Pedana, Gudivada, Machilipatnam, Avanigadda and Pamarru Assembly constituencies form the Machilipatnam Lok Sabha constituency. These areas are Kapu and Yadava base. While Mr.Nani is from the Kapu community, Vidyasagar is a Yadava.

Cop: Driver had 99 decks of heroin, a blade and a stun gun - December 24, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

MOUNT ARLINGTON Philip L. Rosende left more than his car behind on Route 80 over the weekend, State Police say.

While the troopers were on the scene, another vehicle pulled over onto the shoulder of the road, with 29-year-old Rosende in the passenger seat, Grossman said. Rosende identified himself as the owner and operator of the unoccupied vehicle, Grossman said.

Rosende showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest, Grossman said. The troopers found 97 heroin wax folds in Rosende's trunk, he said.

The Daily Record, citing a criminal complaint filed in Superior Court, said troopers also reported finding another two decks of heroin in Rosende's jeans pockets. Grossman said he didn't have information on that available.

Troopers also found a stun gun and a switchblade in the car, Grossman said.

Rosende was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while intoxicated or impaired. He was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Winter weather won’t stop progress on Pacific County bridge replacement projects - December 24, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Contractors set to reach major milestones this winter VANCOUVER Work to replace four narrow and decades-old bridges in Pacific County progresses as crews get ready to pour concrete decks on the new, wider replacement structures this winter.

The Washington State Department of Transportations contractor on the State Route 6 Willapa River Bridge is scheduled to pour the new concrete bridge decks on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Crews working to replace the SR 105 North River and Smith Creek River bridges and the US 101 Middle Nemah River Bridge are on target to pour concrete for the new bridge decks in late December and early January.

In order for the concrete to dry and harden, the decks must be poured during dry weather with temperatures warmer than 35 degrees, making the work weather dependent.

Weve had some intense winter weather, but were expecting a few warm days to let us pour the concrete for the decks, said Project Engineer Lee Unterwegner. Well have a lot of activity going on in the work zones, so were asking drivers to be patient and drive with caution.

Drivers traveling over the Smith Creek and North River bridges on SR 105 should expect single-lane traffic with flagging and delays of up to 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic will be regulated by an automated signal during non-work hours.

Another automated signal is controlling traffic on the one-lane US 101 Middle Nemah Bridge around the clock. Drivers can expect up to 10-minute delays until construction is complete in spring 2014.

All four projects are funded by the 2005 gas tax package and pre-existing state funds, and are scheduled to be complete by the end of 2014.

Stay informed on construction-related traffic impacts by visiting WSDOTs travel alerts and construction update web pages, or by following us on Twitter.

Hill Elementary decks the halls (and doors) for Food Shelf drive - December 24, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

The giving spirit was alive and well this Christmas season at Hill Elementary.

School employees decided to hold a food drive that would be fun and festive for the students. Teachers and other school staff members decorated the doors to their rooms with holiday themes such as gingerbread houses, snowmen, reindeer or the grinch and students voted for their favorite decorations by making food donations. Each donation made entitled the student to one vote.

When the votes were tallied the night of Dec. 18, fourth grade teachers Nancy Siebenahler and Cristin Winter captured the most votes with their gingerbread collaboration; Britta Streff acquired the second most votes with her snowmen theme; and JoLynn Nangle tallied the third most votes with her winter wonderland theme.

I like the gingerbread house because its two rooms together, said fourth grader Elsie ONeil. Its like a big gingerbread house.

All participating staff members received some sort of recognition for their decorations such as funniest or Rudolphs favorite, but Siebenahler said the real winners are the people who will receive items from the 471 pounds of food collected during the contest. She said the contest was a first for Hill and students said theyd like to do it again next year.

It makes you feel good inside that youre helping other people, said fourth grader Izak Wixon.
