Tearful Brian Blessed overcome as he discovers 'real-life Oliver Twist' in the family - August 10, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Blessed said he was terribly moved to hear about the entrepreneurial youngster, whom he called a lad after my own heart.

Wiping away a tear as he stood at Jabezs graveside, he said: I dont think Ive ever cried in my life. Never cried, not even as a baby.

Im proud to have found you. I had a really great, great-grandfather.

Blessed family history was uncovered by researchers on the BBCs Who Do You Think You Are?, who looked into his paternal line from his home in south Yorkshire.

They located his great-great-great-grandfather, Barnabus Blessed, as a relatively wealthy bookbinder in early 1800s London, before making a disastrous move to Portsmouth.

Recorded as a pauper and father of four, he and his wife both died in their early 40s, leaving their children as orphans.

As paupers, the four children were expelled from the parish just three days later and sent back to London, where the St Martins in the Fields parish were legally bound to care for them.

They entered the workhouse, where they were split up and housed in separate wards.

Martha, aged 14, is described as an idiot, suggesting she suffered learning difficulties. She died a week after entering the workhouse. Elizabeth, her 22-month-old sister, died shortly afterwards.

Rockhampton woman sheds old lifestyle, loses 46kg - August 8, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

VICKI Hartley knew she had to do something about her weight when she couldn't muster enough breath for an RBT.

"I had to take a roadside breath test in front of my son, who was learning to drive," she said.

"I took me three goes. That was scary."

The Rockhampton woman yesterday reflected on her recent Weight Watcher's journey, which has taken her from 110kg to an incredible 64kg.

Vicki is an entrant in the national 2014 Healthy Life Awards.

"I've always had a weight issue, ever since I was a little girl," she said.

"I continually yo-yo'ed. But this time, I was committed."

Vicki, who has tried everything from strict diets to hypnosis, said she really believed in the Weight Watcher's program because it gave you the tools, support and guidance to take control of your life.

"You need to be held accountable," she said.

"It's important you're focused and in the right mindset too."

Ex-Giant Wilson sheds 'tears of joy' - August 7, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

When the 23-year old Wilson, who was waived-injured by the Giants on Tuesday, spoke of his teammates, he paused twice and brushed away tears with the pocket handkerchief from his suit.

"These are tears of joy," Wilson said. "Don't think I'm sad. There's no need to dwell on the negative, because if you do, then you feel sorry for yourself and you're not living. I'm still healthy. I'll still be able to do the things that I could always do, except play football."

Wilson, the Giants' first-round selection of the 2012 draft out of Virginia Tech, had a solid rookie season. He led the NFL in kickoff-return yardage with 1,533 yards, setting a Giants record. He also rushed for 358 yards.

He had received clearance to return to football activities at the start of training camp 2 weeks ago. But last Tuesday, Wilson caught a pass during a drill, put his head down and ran into the back of an offensive lineman. That hit caused numbness in his hands and lower extremities.

"It was a scary feeling," Wilson said. "I can't hide that fact. But at the same time, I felt perfectly fine and was totally optimistic. I hoped and prayed that I would be cleared. When I say I was really positive, that's what I was. I expected to come back."

But Giants team doctors and the spinal specialist who operated on Wilson agreed that it would be best for Wilson to step away from the game.

"The doctors dealt with this injury before and I'm comfortable with their answer," he said. "They told me that I would live a healthy life. I have a long life to live. I'm only 23 years old. I've been blessed. I lived my dream by playing in the NFL. I was drafted in the first round. I have guys here who support me in whatever I do."

*Johnny Manziel will start Cleveland's exhibition opener on the sideline. Browns coach Mike Pettine chose Brian Hoyer as the starting quarterback for Saturday's game in Detroit, giving the veteran the first chance to impress before Manziel takes the field. Pettine said the decision to start Hoyer over Manziel was based on the veteran's performance so far in training camp.

*Arizona tight end Jake Ballard announced his retirement and traced his decision to the severe knee injury he sustained playing for the New York Giants in the 2012 Super Bowl. "My body never felt the same," he said.

Mariah Sheds Her Manager — Again - August 7, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

It looks like the "elusive chanteuse" continues to elude career stability.

Mariah Carey has parted ways with longtime musical collaborator Jermaine Dupri as her manager, and has been working closely with Kevin Liles, who was president of Def Jam during the singer's stint at the label, Billboard has learned. Sources say "nothing official" has been inked with Liles' firm KWL Enterprises, but the two have been working together since the June launch of Go N'Syde's Carey-branded Butterfly interactive beverage line.

"I'm a very hands-on person when it comes to my work," Dupri tells Billboard in a statement. "I put my all into every project. But when I'm not allowed to do what I do, then I know it's time for me to move on. Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future." Reps for Liles, Carey and Carey's label Def Jam declined comment.

The reteaming with Liles is the latest in an increasingly long line of management changes Carey, 44, has undergone during the past few years, which in 2013 alone included stints with a Randy Jackson/Irving Azoff tag team and Bruce Eskowitz of Red Light Management before Dupri came onboard that fall. In the past decade, she also worked with current Jennifer Lopez manager Benny Medina (2003-2008) and the late Chris Lighty (2008-2012); other former managers include Randy Hoffman and, briefly, Sandy Gallin.

The news arrives on the heels of disappointing sales of Carey's 14th studio album, Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse, which has sold 103,000 copies since its May 27 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and falls off the Billboard 200 on the chart dated Aug. 9 after just eight weeks. The album underwent multiple release-date changes (it was at one point slated for July 2013 to capitalize on "#Beautiful," Carey's hit duet with Miguel), but has failed to chart a Billboard Hot 100 single since ballad "You're Mine (Eternal)" spent one week at No. 88 in February. The disco-fied "You Don't Know What to Do," featuring Wale, was announced as her latest single in June but has yet to appear on any Billboard charts.

ShouldThe Elusive Chanteuse fail to rechart, it would be the shortest Billboard 200 run of any of Carey's studio albums.
