A woman constable suspects foul play and the involvement of his employer behind the sudden disappearance of her husband. Sudhir Yerunkar, 42, an interior designer from Mira Road, who has been missing for the last three months. Sudhir was employed with Baramati-based jeweller Shrenik Bhandari in Pune since October 2013 and went missing when he was on duty.
Sudhirs wife, Sunita, 37, a constable with the MHB Colony police station, lodged a missing persons complaint with the Baramati police in November and registered a case of kidnapping a month later. She told dna that Sudhir was working with Bhandari on a contract basis and had to travel from Mumbai to Baramati at least thrice a week.
In the last week of October, Bhandari asked Sudhir to collect a Diwali gift from a Zaveri Bazaar-based jeweller and hand it over to him. After collecting the gift-wrapped box, he came home and on October 30, took a rickshaw to the ST stand near Borivli station from where he was supposed to travel to Baramati. However, he lost the box on the way. Despite frantic attempts, he could not find it and returned to Pune empty-handed, Sunita said.
She says after being told that the box was lost, Bhandari asked her husband to call her and made him search for the gift again. Sudhir was unaware that the box contained gold jewellery worth Rs9 lakh, said Sunita. Bhandari threatened us and used abusive language on the phone. He alleged that we stole the gift and were making up stories. We were willing to compensate him for the loss, but he was not convinced. Since then, I have not seen my husband... I lost my father because of a heart attack after Sudhir went missing.
Sunita alleges that she is being made to run from pillar to post and that the police are hand-in-glove with the influential jeweller, who is absconding. They have not been able to trace Bhandari or find out my husbands whereabouts. As a police personnel myself, I am shocked with this kind of attitude. I have written to the home ministry and senior police officers in Mumbai, who have assured help, she told dna.
The Baramati police have registered a case of kidnapping, criminal intimidation and intentional insult against Bhandari. The accused has approached high court after his plea for anticipatory bail was rejected. We will question Bhandari once he is arrested. Meanwhile, investigations are on and the hunt for Sudhir continues, said KS Patel, assistant inspector with the Baramati police station.
Lost bag with jewellery worth Rs9L Sudhir Yerunkar, 42, was working with Baramati-based jeweller Shrenik Bhandari in Pune. In October 2013, Bhandari asked Sudhir to collect a bag from a jeweller in Zaveri Bazaar. Sudhir lost the bag, allegedly containing gold jewellery worth Rs9 lakh, and told Bhandari about it. The jeweller alleged Sudhir was lying. Sudhir has been missing since then

Once again proving that even the most unlikely structurescargo ships, butcher shops, and even water towerspossess a Cinderella-like potential to be transformed, this stylish Amsterdam loft was unbelievably once nothing more than a lowly auto repair shop. Indeed, interior designer James van der Velden of the firm Bricks Amsterdam bought the 1,453-square-foot, two-bedroom garage back in 2012, and, sensing its potential as one of the world's chicest man caves, has since revamped it into a highly personalized living space, with just a few references to its rugged past life.
Guests access van der Velden's home through an attached garage and enter into an open kitchen and living room spaceall centered around a light-providing glass atrium. The decor in both rooms speaks to the designer's taste for antiques and rather bold, masculine furniture choices, though none of it is meant to feelin the designer's own words"like a museum where you are afraid to touch things." With this in mind, Parisian flea market finds and pieces from van der Velden's extensive art collection are paired with more DIY accents, like scaffolding pipe-built shelving units and apple crate side tables. Other quirky (and designer-approved) touches include some unexpected subway tiling in the kitchen and pale blue distressed walls that pop up throughout the entire homea clear holdover from the space's early days.
In the master bedroom, a large piece of leather hangs from a steel rod in the place of a traditional backboard, and repurposed movie theater seats and built-in bookcases line the walls. Finally, serving as the most literal nod to the home's past life is the designer's much-loved (if seldom used) motorcycle, mounted up towards the ceiling. Houzz has more photos of the transformed abode, right this way.

Home Shows are a fun way for homeowners to explore the next and best products for energy efficient home improvement, plus upgrades for home beauty and comfort. There are several shows in Western Washington during the first quarter of the year, including ones in Seattle, Tacoma, Everett, Puyallup, Camano Island and smaller local ones. These shows typically cover products and services for both home interiors and exteriors, plus landscaping, outbuildings, cabins, remodeling and an assortment of home related products. In the area of energy efficient home upgrades, some of the new and expected to be hot items this year are:
1. A tank water heater with a lifetime warranty. Electric tank water heaters last 8-10 years and are famous for big ugly water leaks - until now. HTP has created a new tank which is made of stainless steel and has a limited lifetime warranty. Yes, that is for the buyers whole life. There is one consumable piece that must be replaced every decade which costs about $300 installed, vs the cost of a new tank at that interval. The stainless steel tank resists any corrosion and has no anode rod to corrode inside. With maintenance, the owner can expect peace of mind for many years. In addition, this tank is engineered for faster response time. So it refills with hot water faster than a regular electric tank will. This is a great option for electric tank customers. It comes in 40 and 50 gallon sizes and the stainless look is attractive.
2. Home energy audits (and auditors). With the increasing popularity of using an energy audit to plan your energy efficient home upgrades the right way, auditors have become a popular feature at the shows. Washington Energy will be bringing certified BPI home energy auditors to meet the public and answer questions at the Tacoma, Seattle and Everett home shows.
3. Ductless heat pumps continue to be popular in 2014. Ductless heating for electrically heated homes or as an addition to ducted heating has exploded in Western Washington over the past 2 years. At each show, visitors will find several companies with heat pumps on display including those by Daikin, the world leader in heating, and Mitsubishi, a top brand in ductless heating, plus others.
4. Tankless water heaters are also an area where technology has created greater home comfort. Energy efficient tankless water heaters are now being used for more than just heating water, they are running radiant heating systems for the whole house. Similar to the way a boiler works, some tankless water heaters are made to be able to interface with radiant heating systems. Radiant heating, most often seen as floor heating, provides even heat throughout the house and creates a wonderful feel under foot when you step onto warm tile. This type of heating is surprisingly energy efficient and there are rebates from several local utilities for the equipment. Find out more at your local home show.
Washington Energy Services, a leading home improvement contractor in Washington State, exhibits at several major home shows in the Jan-March timeframe including the Tacoma Home Show, Seattle Home Show, Port Susan Camano Island, and our Energy Audit team will be at the Everett Home Show and Phinney Neighborhood Home Fair. All of the products mentioned above will be available.
After the home shows end, the products can be found at the Washington Energy Services showroom, 3909 196th St SW, Lynnwood WA 98036 Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.

Home security measures have become an indispensable albeit pricey necessity in the eyes of many homeowners today. This is particularly true for those who spend a great deal of time away from their houses or are about to take a long family trip, which means leaving them empty and thus very vulnerable to break-ins. As the Chinese New year holidays are around the corner, here are several simple and cheap ways you can minimise the risk of your home being broken into by burglars.
1) Lock everything up and stow away your ladders
The most important step that everyone knowns in regards to safeguarding your home is of course to lock all the doors and windows, but many homeowners get a little lax when it comes to the second-storey windows or if they live in an apartment or condominimium. If you live in a landed property and keep your handyman equipment outside, bring in any ladders you may have as burglars are not averse to using your own tools agains you. For high-rise homeowners living on higher floors, thieves can find creative ways to reach your home so be vigilant about those locks.

Bardi Heating, Cool and Plumbing, an Atlanta HVAC repair company, relocated to a larger office in December 2013. The office is located in East Norcross, GA within metro Atlanta. Prior to the transition, the company was situated in a smaller office several blocks away from the new location. The move will positively impact clients as well. Staff growth will result in more appointment availability and increased work performance.
The new office is housed in a single-story building on Peachtree Corners. The interior is dressed in calm, neutral colors. This larger office area provides the staff a myriad of benefits. The expansive space allows staff to spread out, yielding quieter working spaces. The larger space also affords Bardi the opportunity to expand staffing in the future and hire more employees.
The new office features a larger training room, conference room and meeting spaces, as well as a spacious break room for the staff outfitted with new appliances. The office includes a new Honeywell smart thermostat, which Bardi recommends and installs in homes across Atlanta. The bigger office space also provides ample storage for more parts, pieces, and tools of the trade.
The new office is a generous space for our company to grow into, said Gresham Ard, the residential general manager at Bardi. Our staff can spread out and really focus on work because its quieter. We have a lot of opportunities to expand storage and staffing, as well.
Bardi Heating, Cooling and Plumbing is a family-owned HVAC and plumbing company in Atlanta. Founded in 1989 by Alex and Susan Bardi, the company has been providing the Atlanta area with quality HVAC services for almost 25 years.
