January 21, 2014 - Indoor Football League (IFL) Sioux Falls Storm The Storm is pleased to announce the re-signing of two key offensive weapons, Jeremiah Oates and Blake Wilson.
Oates (6'3", 180lbs) will be entering his second season with the Storm. Oates will look to build on last year's performance in which he tallied 111 receiving yards, recorded one touchdown, and averaged 15.9 yards per catch. The California native played his collegiate career at the University of Sioux Falls and was a highly valued player. As a senior Oates earned All-NSIC First Team honors and was also selected for the Don Hansen NCAA II Super Region Three Team. Oates averaged 133.1 all-purpose yards per game as a senior, which was the sixth-best mark in the NSIC and also placed him 45th in the country.
Blake Wilson (5'10" 185lbs) proved to be a reliable weapon last season as he accumulated 183 receiving yards, seven touchdowns, and averaged 10.2 yards per catch. Wilson will be entering his fourth season with the Storm. Blake played collegiately at Southwest Minnesota State University where he was a standout at the slot position.
Currently, there are five additions to the 2014 Storm receiving corps. Michael Johnson (5'8", 178 lbs) played for the UNLV Rebels. Throughout his career, Johnson recorded 94 receptions for 1055 yards and six touchdowns.
Michael Lemon (6'0", 195 lbs) attended Willamette University and played for the UIFL Eastern Kentucky Drillers. Lemon was a dual-threat in college both through the air and on the ground. After playing two years at Linfield College, Lemon proved to be a great fit for the Willamette offense.
Jameze Massey (5'8", 170 lbs), a native of North Carolina, played collegiately at Winston-Salem State. Most recently, Massey played in the CFL and was a part of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Joining his former teammate Massey will be Jahuann Butler (6'0", 195lbs). Butler also attended Winston-Salem State after transferring from Fayetteville State in 2010. Jahuann finished his senior year leading the conference in every statistic except receptions. Butler finished his career at Winston-Salem with 91 receptions, 1954 yards, and 20 total touchdowns.
Judd Harold (6'5", 225lbs) will also be joining the Storm after spending last season with the Omaha Beef of the CPIFL. Harold proved to be a valuable weapon for the Beef in 2013, playing in all 13 games where he accumulated 506 yards, averaged 11.2 yards per catch and tallied 10 touchdowns.

January 21, 2014 - Northwoods League (Northwoods) St. Cloud Rox St. Cloud, MN - The St. Cloud Rox announced today that they have hired Pitching Coach J.P. Martinez and Assistant Coach Phil Imholte. Both coaches will work under Field Manager Augie Rodriguez who is returning for his third season with the Rox. Tristan Toorie is also returning for his second season as the Strength and Conditioning/Hitting Coach.
Martinez played at the University of New Orleans in 2003 and 2004. In two seasons at UNO, he appeared in 44 games, with 16 starts, going 12-6 and registering 188 strikeouts in 170 innings.
He spent the summer of 2003 with the St. Cloud River Bats, where he registered 17 saves as the closer (a mark that is good for 7th all-time in the Northwoods League). The next summer, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 9th round of the 2004 MLB Draft (270th overall).
Over five seasons in the minors (four with the Twins organization and one with the Orioles), JP made 203 appearances, threw 341 innings, and reached Triple A level in 2007 with the Rochester Red Wings. He went 17-14 with a 3.35 ERA, 40 saves and 357 strikeouts in minor league baseball. Currently, JP is the head coach at Pope John Paul II Catholic High School in Slidell, LA.
"My summer in St. Cloud was the best summer of life. It prepared me for the talent level and the rigors of my professional career. I am ecstatic to return to St. Cloud where I played a decade ago, as a coach. I know that I have a lot to offer our players in terms of their development and playing at a high level, and am thrilled at the opportunity to compete for a championship as a part of a first-class organization," said Martinez.
Imholte, also no stranger to Rox Baseball and St. Cloud, played for the Rox during the inaugural 2012 season and is a St. Cloud Cathedral and St. Cloud State University graduate. At SCSU he was an All-American, Academic All-American, All-Region, and All-NSIC. He is the career leader in stolen bases and hit-by-pitches, and 2nd all-time in NCAA DII career hit-by-pitches. With the Rox he was a 2012 Rawlings "Finest in the Field" award winner, which highlights the top defensive Northwoods League player at each position.
"I'm thrilled to be back with the Rox in 2014. Being a part of the inaugural team was an unforgettable experience and I'm honored to spend another summer representing the St. Cloud baseball community. I'm looking forward to learning from the coaching staff, ownership, players, and fans," said Imholte.
The Rox home opener is Friday, May 30th at 7:05p.m. at Joe Faber Field presented by Coborn's. The Magpies began the month with director of football Joe Kinnear warning they may not make any new signings, while manager Alan Pardew once again voiced his hopes of hanging on to all his star men.
Three weeks on, there have been no arrivals or departures at St James' Park, but as Pardew learned within weeks of his arrival as manager in December 2010, that may not necessarily remain the case.

A Charlotte developer announced plans Tuesday for a new office building in the South End area.
The three-story building will be at 2418 Dunavant St., just northwest of where South Boulevard meets Remount Road. It will have 15,500 square feet of office space.
Officials with RBB Investments said they expect to start construction early this year, with occupancy in the fall.
We feel there is pent-up demand for new Class A office space in this area which is already bursting with energy and new residential and retail development, Margie Bruner, principal of RBB, said in a statement.
Bouyed by the proximity of the Lynx Blue Line, the South End has seen a surge of development in recent years, much of it coming in the form of new apartment complexes.
Office vacancy rates in the midtown submarket that includes the South End stood at 4.3percent in the third quarter of 2013, according to the latest figures available from Karnes Research. That ranked among the lowest rates in the city for ClassA office space the designation reserved for the most desirable office accommodations.
The architectural team of Overcash Demmitt designed the planned office building. Leasing will be handled by Anne Vulcano and Jessica Brown of CBRE, with rental rates expected to be $26 to $28 per square foot.
