Lakes in Mount Joy offers access to park, town, I-283

    - December 15, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

With land at a premium and the cost to develop subdivisions rising, home builders are always looking for construction opportunities.

That's why Kenneth Homes is erecting eight single-family houses in The Lakes in Mount Joy Borough, a well-established community within walking distance of downtown Mount Joy.

Some lots Kenneth Homes is building on offer lake views, said general manager Brian Gavin. The neighborhood is "an attractive community" with a park that features the aforementioned lake, walking trails, a playground, tennis courts and basketball courts, he said.

And because the development is almost completed, buyers won't have to worry about construction "going on around them for the next five years," Gavin said.

The eight Kenneth Homes' lots are less than a quarter of an acre, and all will feature daylight basements. Six of the home sites will have walk-out basements, too.

A furnished model house and three spec homes are either finished or well under construction.

Kenneth Homes has two floor plans available in The Lakes: the Osprey, priced at $249,900, and the Hershock, priced at $214,900.

Standard in both are stone on the facade; gas heat; a two-car garage with upgraded door; an egress window in the full basement; poured-concrete foundations; maple cabinets; a custom trim package with accent painting; oil-rubbed bronze fixtures; and name-brand appliances, including a gas stove and a microwave.

Gavin said other builders often make gas stoves an option, while it's part of the normal package offered by Kenneth Homes.

The model is an Osprey, a two-story, 2,046-square-foot residence with four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a front porch, an unfinished walk-out basement and a small patio off the basement.

Dorothy O’Connor creates magical world at Tinney

    - December 15, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

On cold days people tend to walk briskly in downtown Nashville. But during the first week in December, people walking on Fifth Avenue North stopped, if only briefly, to watch Dorothy OConnor construct one of her fantastical worlds inside Tinney Contemporary.

Its been really nice. People walking will knock on the window and give me a thumbs up or say something really nice, which is so encouraging, OConnor said a few days before the shows opening.

Scenes, installation and photography by OConnor, is on view at the gallery through Jan. 11. OConnor will speak on Jan. 3 as part of the rescheduled Collectors Art Night.

The centerpiece is Ceiling of Black Birds, a vignette centered in the gallery directly across from the front doors. Contained within briar-covered walls and ceiling, the scene includes two wooden beds and various vintage props: a typewriter, stacks and piles of old books, doilies, etc.

A flock of birds progresses from white to black white birds on the floor and lower surfaces, white and black ones midway up and a mass of black birds on the ceiling.

The concept for the piece came to OConnor in a dream. It sounds so goofy to say that, but honestly thats where a lot of stuff comes from, she said.

Though she doesnt remember much else about the dream, she recalls someone saying to her, Dont forget your funeral near the end of it. The ceiling of black birds came to her instantly and other details emerged later.

For example she wanted to have two people making things in the scene. In the live tableau, a model sat on each bed, one making birds from the pages of an old book while the other painted the birds black.

OConnor was the Martin Shallenberger artist-in-residence earlier this year at Cheekwood, where she constructed Shelter in the museums temporary exhibition space. Her intricate, otherworldly installations are not only photographed for later display (using her 8-by-10 camera) but are also settings for performance art pieces or tableaux vivant.

Dorothys work is very organic, everything about it is nature-driven, gallery owner Susan Tinney said. Tinney went to OConnors website after being introduced to her in Atlanta by arts writer Jerry Cullum.

Carpet Cleaner, Carpet Steam Cleaner, Portable Carpet Cleaners

    - December 15, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Daimer Industries is well known for its provision of the industry's most powerful and highest quality carpet cleaner machines and equipment. Daimer's XTreme Power carpet cleaners and carpet extractors are no exception. There are various aspects that set these machines above the rest, namely Daimer's use of advanced low-flow technologies, high quality components, and environmentally friendly green carpet cleaner shampoos.

Advanced Low Flow Carpet Cleaning Technologies in Carpet Cleaners

The XTreme Power series of carpet cleaners offers unmatched cleaning power paired with advanced low flow technologies exclusive to Daimer. Drying times are rapidly diminished through reduced water flow without limiting cleaning power. Carpet steam cleaners by Daimer boast drying times as low as 2 hours for carpets and 1 hour for upholstery, while drying times for non-heated carpet cleaning machines are only 6 hours, with upholstery drying in 1 hour.

The benefits of low-flow carpet cleaners are numerous. First, the risk of mold, mildew, and bacteria growth are eliminated. Some carpet cleaners on the market feature drying times as high as, or higher than 24 hours. Such prolonged periods of dampness provide the ideal breeding ground for bacteria and mold to grow, a problem that can be completely avoided with carpet cleaning equipment by Daimer.

Low drying times are also a tremendous benefit for cleaning contractors with restaurant and retail customers, or for those businesses themselves. These portable carpet cleaners provide the ultimate option for thoroughly shampooing carpets and allowing them to dry before the next business day. What this means for businesses is that they don't have to worry about closing down for prolonged periods while cleaning contractors use a steam carpet cleaner and allow carpets to fully dry. Instead, low flow carpet cleaner machines allow businesses to operate as usual while providing a clean, fresh, and welcoming environment for customers.

Hotels, resorts, restaurants, casinos, shopping malls, and other high-traffic, carpeted areas can be kept in like-new condition with carpet shampooers by Daimer. Such conditions created through the use of portable carpet cleaner equipment provides for a warm environment that keeps customers coming back.

To meet the needs of our expansive customer base, Daimer has incorporated both heated and non-heated carpet cleaner technologies into its XTreme Power line. Both types of carpet cleaners offer unique benefits for different users.

For lighter commercial carpet cleaning applications, carpet steamers are not required. While the use of heat greatly expands cleaning power, this added cleaning power is not necessary when cleaning areas characterized by low traffic and little mess. Heated carpet cleaners are also not preferred when cleaning heat-sensitive carpet materials, like wool. In this case, heat would cause shrinkage that would damage the carpet. Instead, when tackling heat-sensitive carpets, opt for non-heated carpet cleaners in the XTreme Power line.

High-traffic areas, on the other hand, greatly benefit from the addition of heat in the carpet cleaning. With hot water output temperatures reaching up to 210F, Daimer's XTreme Power carpet steam cleaners supply the cleaning power necessary to tackle the most demanding industrial applications. Food stains, drink spills, grease, crayons, coffee, wine, dirt, and other types of grime, even those that are deeply embedded in carpets, can be quickly removed with heated carpets cleaners by Daimer.

In addition to enhancing cleaning power, the addition of heat goes a long way in reducing the drying times of heated carpet cleaners. In fact, the XTreme Power XPH-5900I, XPH-9300, XPH-9600, and XPH-9650 all offer drying times for carpet as low as two hours, and upholstery drying times as low as one hour. The quick-drying feature of Daimer's carpet steamer machines reduces risk of mold or mildew growth, a common occurrence within carpets cleaned by high-flow, slow-drying carpets cleaners.

PureGreen, a New York Rug Cleaning Industry Expert, Is Issuing Tips to Follow When Choosing Organic Carpet Cleaning …

    - December 15, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 15, 2013

Sonny Cohen, a carpet and rug cleaning expert, has been the owner of PureGreen Carpet Cleaning since 2004. He is a certified green labeled cleaning professional serving New York City.

To me, it never made sense to use toxic or harmful chemical products to clean with. Its kind of backwards. Think about it, the most important factor when cleaning your carpets and rugs is to create a healthier and more hygienic environment in your home. When you use carcinogenic products during the cleaning process, you are simply removing dirt and replacing it with something worse and detrimental to your health. The reason most companies use harsh chemicals is because they are cheaper and easier to clean with, Sonny Cohen commented.

Most carpet and rug cleaning chemicals contain several harmful ingredients like perchlorethylene and ammonium hydroxide. Both have been known to carry carcinogens and cause adverse effects on respiratory and organ functions such as the liver and kidneys.

They may do a good job cleaning but do you really want those products in your home, invading the air that you breathe? Especially in crowded cities where its a constant battle to keep toxins and pollutants out of your home.

Choosing Green labeled companies to work with seems to be the most obvious choice. PureGreen is an award-winning organic carpet cleaning NYC service that can help get rid of the grime, allergens, bacteria and dust from your fine rugs and carpeting without any fear of chemical reactions or off gassing.

When searching for a company to hire. PureGreen has issued these three crucial tips that consumers should use during the hiring process.

    1. When hiring a green carpet cleaning service, always be sure to find out exactly what products they use during their cleaning process. Many unscrupulous companies simply advertise the use of organic cleaning to take advantage of consumers. A reputable company will make all the MSDS sheets on the products they use available to their customers.

    2. Ask if the company is Green Seal Certified. The green seal is the highest level of green cleaning certification awarded to companies who live, breathe, and eat green cleaning.

    3. Ask if the company is fully licensed, bonded and insured. This is an important one. You want to make sure that this company has made the investment to stay in business long term and not some fly by night company.
