Provisional exit polls from the 15 counties in Liberia are showing some intriguing results with incumbent senators looking shaky in their quest to hold on to power.
Montserrado County Senatorial Polls shows that former soccer star George Weah of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), is leading what seems a landslide against Independent Candidate Robert A. Sirleaf, Liberty Party's Benjamin Sanvee and Dr. J. Christopher Z. Neyor, former head of the National Oil Company of Liberia.
With polling over in the midterm special senatorial election in all 15 counties, incumbent senators are having rocky path to maintain their grip on power as Liberia most populous Montserrado County looks likely to award soccer legend Weah his first elected post.
Four counties are so far showing glaring signs of who might get the one slot to the Capitol come January 2015 while others are still having ups and downs.
Montserrado looks sealed and dusted for Weah, Grand Cape Mount nearly done for Cllr. Varney Sherman, Grand Bassa Jonathan Kaipay, Prince Johnson topping in Nimba.
Provisional results indicate that Weah is in wide lead at nearly all polling places in Montserrado County with his main contender Robert A. Sirleaf trailing far behind.
From the numbers the margin between Weah and his nearest rival Sirleaf looks highly unlikely to overturn, meaning Weah is certain of a legislative seat after two successive attempts proved unsuccessful.
Findley in Trouble
In Grand Bassa County where the incumbent, Gbehzongar Findley is the Senate pro Temp, he appears loosing grip on his lucrative post with the Liberty Party of Jonathan Kaipay taking an early lead.
Incumbent Senator, Findley voted at the administration building precinct, where many other voters had already gathered to exercise their franchise. Findley was upbeat about the process and told reporters that he's optimistic about claiming a victory at the end of the competition.

Glueboard traps prohibited from 2015
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is asking members of the public to be on the lookout for any glueboard rodent traps being used or sold next year.
From 1 January 2015, the sale and use of glueboard traps which are sticky boards used to monitor and capture rodents is prohibited under the Animal Welfare (Glueboard Traps) Order 2009.
MPIs Director Animal and Animal Products, Matthew Stone, says that while MPI supports the need for access to effective pest control tools, this prohibition sends a clear message that glueboard traps are no longer acceptable from an animal welfare perspective.
There are welfare concerns with glueboard traps over the pain and distress they cause captured rodents including the length of time the rodents may be left on the traps and the potential for inhumane disposal, he says.
Attitudes about animal welfare continually evolve, and its important that we keep pace with changes in our society, as well as scientific knowledge, good practice and available technology.
Ministerial approval can be granted for glueboard traps to be used in some cases where there is strong public interest in effective rodent management and no viable alternative, such as in food processing premises and pest-free islands.
Effective pest management is essential for New Zealands food safety, conservation, primary production and biosecurity, however animal welfare has to be taken into account, says Mr Stone.
Pest control operators must make every reasonable effort to find humane alternatives.
Mr Stone says the Ministry is focused on ensuring pest control operators are aware of the new regulations, however the public need to be vigilant and report any retailers breaching the rules. The public have not been able to use glueboard traps for the last five years.

Sydney: The home where eight children were found murdered in northern Australia will be demolished and a memorial built on the site, news reports said Monday.
Flowers continued to be laid by grieving relatives on the front lawn of the home in a Cairns suburb where four boys and four girls aged between two and 14 years old were found murdered on Friday.
The mother of seven of the children and aunt to one girl found dead, Mersane Warria, 37, was charged with their murder and was ordered Monday by a Cairns court to remain in custody until January 30, when the case will be heard again.
After extensive consultation we will remove the house behind me, local member of parliament Gavin King told reporters.
King said the removal of the house and installation of a memorial would comply with the familys wishes and cultural beliefs relating to spirits on the site, broadcaster ABC reported.
Acting Assistant Police Commissioner Paul Taylor was also quoted as saying the home would be torn down.
Warria whose full name is Raina Mersane Ina Thaiday is in hospital with 17 stab wounds to the chest and was not required to appear before the court Monday.
The magistrate declined a request from the defence lawyer to have the case heard by the Mental Health Court.
Under Queensland law a doctor can certify a person for an involuntary treatment order if they are satisfied they have a mental illness.
Meanwhile, Warria will have her case heard in January, a court said Monday, as she struggles to come to terms with what happened.
