SYDNEY--U.S. President Barack Obama has signed into law legislation clearing a land-swap deal that will underpin the proposed US$6 billion development of one of the world's largest untapped copper deposits, Rio Tinto PLC (RIO) said Monday.

The Resolution copper project in Arizona, which is 55% owned by Rio and 45% by partner BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP.AU), is expected to be one of the next major investments for London-based Rio Tinto. In recent years, Rio Tinto has relied on another commodity--iron ore--for the bulk of its earnings.

The controversial land-swap deal--first proposed nearly a decade ago, and which Rio said it needed for the project to be commercially viable--allows for the exchange of 2,400 acres of land around the deposit owned by the U.S. government for 5,400 acres of privately owned land held by Rio Tinto subsidiary Resolution Copper.

"Passage of the land exchange at Resolution will help us establish the full potential of the resource and provides a clear road map to commercial development," Rio Tinto copper chief executive Jean-Sebastien Jacques said in an emailed statement.

Mr. Jacques said the copper market outlook is strong and that Rio aims to ensure it is able to capitalize on future demand for the metal, used widely in construction and manufacturing. "Resolution is a central component of our copper strategy and we are willing to invest in development over many years to bring high-quality, long-life copper assets into production," he said.

Rio Tinto says the deposit is the third-largest known undeveloped copper resource in the world. The project will now be subject to a comprehensive environmental and regulatory review process, it said.

Native American representatives groups, including the National Congress of American Indians, have argued the federal land in the Tonto National Forest is a place of worship for the Apache and Yavapai people, and is home to ancient settlements and burial sites.

According to the project website, Rio Tinto expects to be producing copper from the deposit--which is nearly 7,000 feet deep, or five Empire State Buildings below the Earth's surface--in the mid-2020s.

The site could produce around 500,000 metric tons of copper a year, according to the website. Output at that level is enough to meet one-quarter of annual U.S. copper demand, said Rio, which estimates the resource could last for more than four decades.

Amaryllo has introduced its iCamPro FHD, something it says is the first home security robot available. The small round unit features an integrated camera that keeps tabs on one's home or office, monitoring movement, sounds, and more to detect if an intruder is present. The related app is used to communicate with the home owner with picture alerts and more. Last month, the device was bestowed with a 2015 CES Best of Innovations award, and if all goes as planned it'll hit the market next year.

The iCamPro is small enough to fit on one's palm, and connects to a local wireless network to help facilitate its various smart features, including video uploads directly to Google Drive. The camera comes in at 2-megapixels and records Full HD video, with dynamic channel adjustment downgrading when needed based on bandwidth.

The lens provides a wide viewing angle without distortion, and promises to stream both video and audio without any delays or stuttering. There's 256-bit encryption, a mechanized infrared-cut filter, support for both Android and iOS, and more.

The company behind iCamPro sought $1,000 USD on Indiegogo, where it has exceeded that goal with about $12,300 USD raised and 30 days remaining. To get one of the "super early" units in white, you'll need to pledge $149 USD. Shipping is worldwide, and slated for May 2015.

Over the next 15 years, the number of people 60 or older in Colorado is expected to more than double, boosting the need for long-term care and services that enable older adults to live independently in their homes.

Keeping needy senior citizens in their homes will require an expansion of services like transportation, meals-on-wheels, counseling and nutrition education, according to the Colorado Department of Human Services.

To meet that need, the agency is asking for an additional $4 million next year, which would raise state funding for Area Agencies on Aging to $21.3 million.

"We have to make sure our budget reflects seniors as a priority. This $4 million will ensure that we have services that are needed to keep our seniors in their homes," said Rep. Steve Lebsock, D-Thornton, who plans to introduce a bill seeking the money for senior services.

The graying of the workforce is a historically unprecedented demographic shift that will continue past 2040, said Bob Semro, health policy analyst for The Bell Policy Center.

The implications of as many as 1 million baby boomers leaving Colorado's workforce will have enormous impact on the state's tax base, Semro said. Not only will the income that older adults pay in taxes shrivel, employees who have older family members will be losing days at work to take care of their relatives.

"Do we have the workforce, the infrastructure to support that? Like any business, we need to plan ahead to determine how we are going to deal with this and maintain the highest quality support we can provide without doing damage to the state budget," Semro said.

AARP and Area Agencies on Aging, which are both backing the increased budget proposal, are also calling for creation of a study group to identify and plan for dealing with long-term issues involving an aging population.

Playing pain-free tennis for the first time since Wimbledon, Nick Kyrgios is refusing to place a limit on how far he can go at next month's Australian Open.

The teenage ace says he's ready to carry the hopes of a nation as he looks to kick on from his spectacular 2014 season with a hot run at the Open.

Feeling physically stronger and mentally tougher after mixing daily four-hour on-court sessions with cross training and basketball, Kyrgios believes there's no reason why he can't go deep into the year's first grand slam.

"I'm not going to put a round on it or say where I think I can get to, but I definitely think I can make an impact at the Australian Open," Kyrgios told AAP after joining forces with Malaysian Airlines on Monday.

"If I'm playing my game and I'm serving well, and playing aggressive, there's a good chance that I can do really well."

Struggling with a left-arm injury, as well as a sore right elbow, Kyrgios called a premature end to his first full season in the professional ranks in October before teaming with Lleyton Hewitt in the inaugural non-sanctioned Indian league.

As well as "learning a lot" from the likes of Hewitt and grand slam veteran Tomas Berdych during the ITPL, the Wimbledon quarter-finalist said he played without pain for the first time in months.

"I'm hitting normal again, back to 100 per cent with both of my arms," he said.

"I was always battling some sort of injury throughout the year. I always had a bit of a niggle.

"But I think that's normal transitioning into the senior game.

Nick Kyrgios declares Open season

Things were going that well for the Seahawks, who dominated the Arizona Cardinals in a 35-6 victory that not only put Seattle in first place, but put them in control of their destiny for the No. 1 seed in the NFC unless Green Bay and Detroit tie next week.

The Seahawks gained a team-record 596 yards, held the Cardinals to just 216 and a pair of field goal, and well, were in a position to empty the bench late in a very important game against a team that came into the game unbeaten at home and with an 11-3 record overall.

Well that was about as much fun as you can have playing football in the regular season, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said in his postgame press conference. Thats as much fun as you can have in football.

Here are five takeaways from one of Seattles most impressive wins of the season:

1. Russell Wilson was spectacular

Considering the limitations of Arizonas offense and the dangers the Cardinals defense presents, the Seahawks probably could have won this game with a conservative effort from their quarterback as long as Wilson didnt turn the ball over. Instead Wilson made big play after big playwithout giving the ball away, mind youpassing for 339 yards and two touchdowns while running for 88 more, including a career-long 55-yarder, and an ankle-breaking touchdown run. Wilson said earlier in the week that he likes it when teams pressure him because it leaves a lot of green grass behind the defense, and on Sunday the Seahawks found it.

Russell was just ridiculous tonight, Carroll said. He was so good tonight.

2. Marshawn Lynch continues to amaze

Youd think by now, after nearly five seasons in Seattle, Marshawn Lynch would have a hard time surprising anybody, and then he does something like what he did in the fourth quarter, ripping off a career-long 79-yard touchdown run that rivaled his famous Beastquake run from the 2010 postseasons right down to the PG-13 finish to the run. At an age when many running backs start to slow down, Lynch, who finished with 113 yards on 10 carries after missing the first quarter with an upset stomach, legitimately looks better at 28 than he ever has since joining the Seahawks in 2010.
