Seattle, WA (PRWEB) November 28, 2014

Solid Apollo LED introduces a large selection of vibrant and fully controllable LED Strip Lights for indoor and outdoor projects, with a wide selection of precise colors to match any application. The LED light strips are available in indoor and waterproof outdoor options using either energy saving 12V or 24V DC low voltage. Currently there are an abundance of LED lights available on the market, but finding a high quality and long lasting flexible LED strip light can be difficult. Most versions in the market consist of low quality strips at discount prices that only last a few months before dimming or burning out. Worse yet, low quality spools sold under the same color have been found to have color variations in individual LEDs or entire spools making color matching difficult. Some even have limited or no accessories available to properly install the light strip for a precise fit and a durable installation.

Solid Apollo LED light strips are fully ETL certified to ensure complete quality and durability. A 3 year warranty also comes standard on every light strip to ensure they perform flawlessly from the first day of installation and through the entire advertised lifetime. The LED Strip Lights are manufactured with high quality materials and specific tolerances to ensure the color and brightness is always consistent on every LED and every LED spool. Four different white colors are available, Candle White Warm White (2400 kelvin), Warm White (3100 k), Daylight White (4500 k) and Pure White (6000 k). Vibrant non-white colors are also available in red, blue, green and amber.

Solid Apollo LED strip lights are perfect for indoor applications, and with the low profile design and double sided tape, strip lights can fit into places unable to be reached before. Solid Apollos LED Strip Lights are both durable and vibrant, projecting the same color and brightness for the entire lifetime of the strip stated Manuel Barquin, CEO of Solid Apollo LED. For the kitchen, strip lights are easy to install for undercabinet lighting, whether using for easy task lighting or for subtle accent lighting. Compared to traditional bulky and cumbersome lighting, LED strip lights are low profile and easy to conceal. In the living room, use strip light to highlight coves in the ceiling for a gentle glow. The strip lights can be added under railing or along staircases and hallways to highlight features and for extra safety. All Solid Apollo LED Strip Lights are a flexible design, able to conform to shapes either up or down, but they cannot be flexed side to side, in this case light strip interconnectors are required to change the direction. A full range of LED accessories are available, such as 90 degree interconnectors and 3-way T interconnectors to make each connection as simple as possible.

Solid Apollo outdoor waterproof LED Strip Lights are made with a durable clear weatherproof silicone layer with built in UV protection to ensure the silicone material never breaks down and does not yellow over time. Waterproof LED strip lights are perfect for general outdoor use, or in bathrooms and other high humidity locations. Waterproof strip lights easily bring attractive accent lighting and safety to areas where traditional outdoor lighting would be too bulky and would disturb the design and desired appearance. LEDs also work great in cold weather compared to traditional lights, as they do not contain components that could freeze and are rated to a chilly -4 degrees Fahrenheit. Around the house, strip lights can be used to frame soffits, or along the railing on decks and patios to highlight features. In the yard, the low voltage and waterproof designs are great for use in tree houses, or around play equipment, such as swings, for exciting lighting effects and extra safety.

Solid Apollo LED Strip Lights come in a variety of precise, durable and vibrant colors which are easy to control. A full range of LED dimmers and color changing RGB controllers are available, so fine tuning the exact color or desired brightness is easy. Remote controls and in-wall controllers come in a variety of styles and a smartphone/tablet wireless control option is also available. Solid Apollo LED recently released the Gecko 2 Zone LED Dimmer, a fully wireless and modern design finished in ivory white. The Gecko was created to look and feel like a normal in-wall dimmer, but without the hassle of installation and wiring normally associated with typical dimmers.

Solid Apollo LED Strip Lights are created using high quality materials and with a 3 year warranty and a variety of matching accessories, adding LED strip lights to even the most intricate designs is easier than ever before.

About SolidApollo.com: Solid Apollo manufactures and distributes a wide range of LED lighting products and solutions.

Safe ways to light up your home for the holidays | HomeWork

    - November 29, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Q: Can you offer some holiday-light safety tips?

A: Holiday lighting makes long winter nights seem brighter and more festive. No wonder we love it!

A recent Electrical Safety Foundation consumer survey found that more than 86 percent of Americans decorate their homes as part of their winter holiday celebrations.

Almost two-thirds use electrical lights in their indoor decorating, and more than half use lighted decorations outside their homes. More than 60 percent use at least one extension cord.

According to estimates by the National Fire Protection Association, holiday lights and other decorative lighting with line voltage are involved in an average of 160 home-structure fires each year.

Those incidents cause an average of nine deaths, 13 injuries and $9 million in property damage annually. Electrical failures or malfunctions are factors in two-thirds of those fires.

Following a few safety guidelines will minimize the risks so your holiday season is both bright and safe.

Each year, inspect all electrical decorations before using them. Cracked or damaged sockets, bare wires and loose connections can cause a serious shock or start a fire.

Candles start almost half of all home fires related to decorations, so its important to minimize the risk.

Consider using battery-operated candles in place of traditional candles. If you do use a real candle, never leave an open flame unattended, and keep burning candles within sight at all times.

Architects' plea to abandon hotel plan

    - November 29, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

"Public school in the making": the Department of Education building. Photo: Christopher Pearce

One of the two major public buildings on Sydney's Bridge Street should be converted into a much-needed city school, says a group of prominent Australian architects.

The Department of Education building and the adjacent Department of Lands building are being offloaded by the Baird government for "no longer meeting their requirements"after more than a century of civic use.

The architecturally prized landmarks, known as "the sandstones", are being sold on a 99-year lease through an international expressions of interest campaign closing on December 3. The marketing pitch describes it as a "rare" chance for a buyer to convert the two buildings into boutique luxury hotels.

But eight architects and academics are appealing to the Premier and Treasurer to keep the historically significantbuildings in public ownership by realising the Education building's potential as "a Sydney city public school in the making".

Australian Institute of Architects' gold medallists Richard Leplastrier and Peter Myers, both of whom worked withJornUtzonon the Sydney OperaHouse, are among those who put their names to a letter sent on Saturday.

"Surely here is an unlikely to be repeated opportunity to make a very fine city-based school in a buildingthat belongs to the citizensand is currently under the custodianshipof the Department of Education," the letter says.

The group argues the building was "readily adaptable" for use as a public high school; a purpose that would require less intrusive changes to the historic structure than a hotel.

"Basically, you could call it Bridge Street High School, just write it in chalk on the wall and that's it; everything's there," said Mr Myers, who has designed plans that show how the building's internal courtyard could be converted into a 500-seat theatre.

Tony Trobe: Design fundamental to achieving high-quality apartment buildings

    - November 29, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Careful design and material selection can reduce the long-term maintenance of apartments.

This week Tony Trobe talks to Andrew Wilson, president of the Australian Institute of Architects' ACT chapter.

TT: Canberra is having a strong public debate about building quality. What are the issues?

AW: Much of the debate is around the quality of design and build outcomes. For example, owners and tenants experience aspects of poor design, with excessive heat load in our hotter and drier climate and/or technical failures, the leaking of balconies into apartments below and unplanned, or high, maintenance costs.

Careful design and material selection can reduce the long-term maintenance. Effective maintenance ensures the longevity of buildings, sustaining the value of the property and reducing the life-cycle cost to owners.

TT: NSW aims to improve the design quality of residential flat/apartment buildings by a policy called SEPP 65. What is this?

AW: It is a policy that promotes better apartment design. It has a companion code, the "Apartment Design Guide - Tools for improving the design of residential flat development". It was introduced in 2002 and is acknowledged as improving the design quality of apartment buildings.

The design of apartments has improved markedly. Much of this improvement can be attributed to SEPP 65 and the Residential Flat Design Code. This success indicates that design considerations are fundamental to the achievement of high-quality building projects.

TT: How does this differ from what we do?

Taiwan Premier Resigns After Party Loses Control of Top Cities

    - November 29, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Taiwans premier resigned to take responsibility for the loss of key mayoral seats around the island for the ruling Kuomintang party, including the capital city of Taipei.

Premier Jiang Yi-huah said at a press briefing today President Ma Ying-jeou accepted his resignation and would soon announce his replacement as well as new members of the cabinet.

Todays election results show that the people are dissatisfied with the administrations policies, Jiang said. The people have spoken clearly through their votes. I have decided to assume political responsibility.

Todays vote is viewed as a referendum on Mas presidency, during which students have staged protests against his push to strengthen ties with China and average real incomes have declined as home prices have soared. The loss of top municipal seats threatens to hamper Mas ability to advance his policies, such as completing a services trade pact with the mainland, and may reduce the partys chances of retaining power in 2016.

Sean Lien, the KMTs candidate for Taipei mayor, a seat the party has held for two decades, conceded defeat to Ko Wen-je, an independent backed by the opposition Democratic Progressive Party. The DPP leads in five of the islands six mayoral elections, including Taichung and Taoyuan, according to early counting by the Central Election Commission.

It is maddeningly short, but the first official glimpse of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens serves as a fitting reminder that a galaxy far, far away is actually much closer than we thought.

While returning cast-members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are absent from the 88-second montage, fans are given a first look at the younger generation of cast-members to feature in this, the first of three planned sequels.

Opening some 30-years after Return of the Jedi, the teaser kicks off with British actor John Boyega racing across a desert landscape dressed in full Stormtrooper regalia.
