Home Builder Developer - Interior Renovation and Design

College Station residents might have seen Michael Stribling as a contestant on the TV show Design Star. Or they might remember him from several episodes of Little Couple as an interior designer.

Or they just might have seen him around town, particularly near 2501 Texas Ave., where he is opening the Christopher Michael Salon.

The salon, which formally opens at 5 p.m. Friday, was initially going to be a smaller salon in College Station. But through Striblings mentor, Jason Backe, LOreal partnered with Stribling, providing products and instructors to create what Stribling calls the areas first luxury salon.

Stribling, whose full name is Christopher Michael Stribling, made his reality-show career as an interior designer, but the stress of owning his own firm led him to seek a different profession. The revelation came to him during a Disney cruise with his family.

Whenever I was at my most stressed-out place in life, whenever I was over-worked and just burnt out, the place I found the most relaxation was at the salon, Stribling said. If I was able to do that for someone, if I can relax them, then my job is awesome.

Stribling was living in Houston, but decided to move home to College Station, where his parents, brother and sister-in-law live. Its also home to Striblings three nephews and niece.

My life is about those four kids, Stribling said. When Im not at work, Im with my nephews and niece.

Stribling pitches his salon as more than just a place to get a haircut. There are TVs on the ceiling above the sinks so clients can have a music video with their shampoo. Giant pictures of models cover several walls, and wine and chocolate are available.

I wanted it to feel like an art gallery, he said.

Backe, whose clientele includes Anne Hathaway and Angelina Jolie, said he has high hopes for Striblings salon.

Be realistic in the present market. If your property price is too high it will hang around thus, try to put yourself in the shoes of the buyers and then fix a fair price.

Improve your curb appeal: Its a first impression matters, external appearance always catches the eyes of the buyers. A house with a chipping paint, patchy grass and overgrown bushes wont make a good impression. Try to make some amendments by giving a fresh coat of paint, trimmed bushes, power wash siding and walkways, wash front windows, hang easy to read house numbers, repaint the porch floor and add a new flower plants in front of the house.

Update the kitchen: Kitchen is the most valuable part of the house. When the buyers are unsure updated kitchen can make huge differences. Reface your kitchen by using neutral color paint; de-clutter the surfaces, place a fruit bowl outside and consider plumbing fixtures. If you have a little money for updating your kitchen, use one fancy stainless steel appliance because when the buyer sees one high end appliance they may think all the rest are luxurious and this updates your kitchen.

De- clutter:It is necessary to clear all clutter from the home before showing your home to buyers because buyers will picture themselves in the space. Clean surfaces, floors, cub boards, take out some furniture from room to make rooms look bigger, get rid of all excess stuff or store it in the storage room and expose the attractive side of your lifestyle. Its not an easy task; remember you are competing with other resale homes.

Maximize the light: Make the place feel light and airy because this makes the rooms feel bigger and attractive. Clean window glasses inside and outside, replace any dated and broken light fixtures, increase the wattage of bulbs, improve the sunlight by cutting the bushes, place lamps in dark corners and put a soft lamp in bath room, it can create a warm glow.

Entice buyers: Place amazing stuff to draw the buyers eye like a piece of art work and a vase of flowers which smell delicious. Make sure the windows dressed with blinds or colorful curtains. Decorate your home in neutral colors like white or beige.

Sweeten the deal: This is one of the best ways to attract the buyers. Offer few things like transferable home warranty for a one year policy and add up terms to sweeten the deal. When you mention that gadgets are covered up, the deal becomes more attractive than competitors. Do your best to make them feel.
