Soldiers relocate Brisbane's Eternal Flame from the cenotaph on Thursday to begin a "huge transformation of Anzac Square".
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk says he is confident Brisbanes Eternal Flame will be safe from vandals during its temporary relocation while the CBD cenotaph is renovated.
On Thursday, the flame was moved to a small fenced plot in Anzac Square, about 25 metres away the Ann Street site it has occupied since 1930.
While the cenotaph flame was protected by locked gates and is in full view of Ann Street, the temporary location is down the slope in Anzac Square behind a fence only about a metre high.

I think people will respect the flame, what it means and obviously the reality is we have some CCTV coverage as well, Cr Quirk said.

Well be watching, well be making sure the respect that ought to be maintained for this flame is maintained.
With a small crowd in attendance, including senior veterans, Corporal Christopher Purdie was given the honour of taking a burner from the cenotaph, walking down its steps and lighting the fire at the new location.

T-Mobile US Inc. (TMUS) added more customers than analysts estimated and raised its forecast for subscriber growth as the carrier continues to challenge rivals with cheaper plans and promotions.
The company added 908,000 monthly branded customers, which exceeded the 717,000 estimated in a Bloomberg survey of eight analysts. The company now projects it will add as many as 3.5 million postpaid subscribers this year, according to a statement today.
John Legere, chief executive officer of T-Mobile, is winning over customers with price cuts and phone financing offers, forcing larger rivals AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc. to follow suit. The continued subscriber growth may heighten T-Mobiles appeal to SoftBank Corp. (9984) Masayoshi Son, SoftBanks CEO, wants U.S. regulators to allow Sprint Corp. (S) and T-Mobile to combine to create a stronger No. 3 wireless competitor.
The better T-Mobile does, the more valuable they look to an acquirer, but at the same time they look even more valuable to regulators as a standalone business, Roger Entner, an analyst with Recon Analytics LLC, in Dedham, Massachusetts, said in an interview before the results were announced.
T-Mobile, the fourth-largest U.S. wireless carrier, now expects it will add 3 million to 3.5 million postpaid subscribers this year, up from a range of 2.8 million to 3.3 million in its previous forecast. The Bellevue, Washington-based carrier is majority owned by Deutsche Telekom AG. (DTE)

T-Mobile ended its streak of four straight quarterly losses thanks to a $731 million gain from swapping spectrum with Verizon. The company reported second-quarter net income of $391 million, or 48 cents a share, compared with a loss a year ago. Without the spectrum swap, T-Mobile would have posted a net loss.

The historic CBS broadcasting facility in Hollywood where George Burns and Gracie Allen once did shtick on the radio will soon be repopulated with entrepreneurs starting new creative businesses.
Developers of a $390-million residential, office and retail complex under construction on Sunset Boulevard called Columbia Square have agreed to rent the existing former CBS building on the site to NeueHouse, a New York operator of avant garde communal office space.
NeueHouse, as conceived by New York venture capitalists Joshua Abram and Alan Murray, intends to take the incubator-office concept a step further by designing an environment where strangers can work independently or come together serendipitously.
Abram and Murray, veteran tech entrepreneurs, envision creating a series of spaces and amenities that cater to individual entrepreneurs and teams of as many as 20 people in the creative arts such as film, design, publishing, the performing arts and technology.
"What we are doing is fairly radical," Abram said. "We are trying to truly reinvent how talented people in global creative industries work together."
The first NeueHouse opened last year in a century-old building across the street from the Park Avenue Armory in New York's Upper East Side. The industrial-chic interior was designed by architect David Rockwell, who is now working on a plan for the old CBS property.
Rockwell is kicking around design possibilities with noted Los Angeles architect Frank Gehry, the designer of Walt Disney Concert Hall, Abram said.
"David has been collaborating on some ideas with Gehry's office," Abram said.
The name NeueHouse is a joining of the German word for new and house and is pronounced "noy-house." Those who want to use the space become members, similar to joining a health club.
Among the charter members of the New York NeueHouse were English music producer Chris Blackwell of Island Records and Jefferson Hack, founder of the British fashion and culture magazine Dazed & Confused.

A TOOWOOMBA father is concerned about a letter his 19-year-old daughter received from her bank encouraging her to get in touch with her "sensible side" and get a credit card.
The letter was "personally addressed" to the teen Rebekah.
"Over the years, I've been doing a pretty good job of managing your finances. But my austerity measures have often meant you've had to go without.
"So as your sensible side, I've hunted down this great offer that'll allow you to treat yourself a little," the letter reads.
"I've already given it a once-over and in short a new NAB credit card means you can enjoy some retail therapy - within limits of course.
"The sensible thing to do now is to stop your impulsive side from missing out."
The letter is signed "your sensible side".
