Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It was a rude awakening for people on the seventh floor of the hotel at Palace Station casino-hotel.
The fire alarm and sprinkler system went off around midnight on Wednesday, forcing several guests to be evacuated from their rooms.
But there was never a fire.
It turns out, a teenage girl was trying to steam a dress. The girl told Action News she hung the dress from an overhead sprinkler fixture in her seventh floor hotel room.
When she was steaming it while it was hanging, the hot steam triggered the sprinkler to go off. Cell phone video shows how water started shooting out and drenching the hotel room.
The water soaked the hallways and other rooms on the same floor, so several guests had to be moved to other rooms in the hotel.
The teenager is visiting from South Carolina and is in Las Vegas this week for the Cinderella International Scholarship Pageant for girls and young women.
No one was hurt in this incident, but there will be a lot of cleanup to do at the hotel.

More than a week after the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, the world's attention remains focused on Russian president Vladimir Putin.

"He doesn't talk," one interpreter told Newsweek writer Ben Judah. "He feels no need to smile."
The interpreter was one of dozens of sources who spoke to Judah about the side of Putin the public does not see.
"The question of what does Putin do every day I think is a huge, important question," Judah said.

THREE bikes worth 1,000 have been stolen from a house during a spate of garage and shed burglaries, which police believe are being carried out by the same gang.
Police are warning residents to ensure their outside properties are properly secured, after the spate, which has seen 29 burglaries from sheds and garages, with mainly bikes stolen.
Suspects entered a garage in Keith Way, Southend, and stole two green and white hybrid Merida Crossways and a pink and black mountain bike.
CCTV has been recovered of a man on a bike and police are trying to identify and speak to him, to eliminate him from their inquiries. It is believed he may have bought it in good faith.
Police said thieves are targeting the whole of Southend, mainly for bicycles, but the incidents are more prevalent in central Southend, Chalkwell and Southchurch.
They have been happening mainly overnight, with a surge between June 16 and July 9.
Chief Insp Simon Anslow, district commander for Southend, said: From April 1 to the middle of July we have seen a 10 per cent reduction in shed and garage burglary, compared to the same period last year. But within that crime this is a noticeable series that appears is being perpetrated by the same person or group of persons.
We encourage anyone who has had a shed or garage burglary to report it. Anyone who sees any suspicious activity happening overnight around sheds and garages should call us immediately on 999.

Jonas explained to Complex the message behind the song. Everyone has their own chains, in life and in love, that bind them and this song embodies that feeling, he told the magazine. Im excited to be back to share this song with the world.
Jonas not only provides soaring vocals, but he also shows his songwriting skills. In the chorus, he plays off the words chains and change, singing, "You got me in Chains/you got me in chains/for your love/ but I wouldnt change."
Jonas is claiming his emancipation from the Disney Channel just like fellow former Disney and Nickelodeon stars Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Dylan Sprouse have been doing lately. The track has an urban and more suggestive sound that welcomes a brand new audience into Jonas' already established fan base. He also mentioned that it will be matched with a "racy" music video.
Early in his career, Jonas, along with his brothers, presented a Christian image and even wore purity rings. According to a source for Page Six, Jonas upcoming project will be all him as he sheds the image that he felt people created for him.
"Nick has spent years experiencing a burden that's hard to explain," the source told Page Six. "He feels free now for the first time in his life. He's making music he believes in." Apparently, Jonas is done caring about what other people think of his music.
