Traditional Designs, LTD Now Offering Online Interactive Kitchen Design

    - July 17, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Houston, Texas (PRWEB) July 16, 2014

For more than 25 years, Traditional Designs LTD has provided homeowners in the Houston metro area with the latest trends in countertops, flooring, and cabinets. It is been particularly renowned for the vast range of options regarding its kitchen countertops, which are available in quartz and granite. Recently, Traditional Designs announced the decision to offer an online interactive kitchen tool for choosing the color and style of a granite kitchen countertop.

Hard and tough, granite has been used for thousands of years due to the stone's high level of durability and aesthetic quality. Granite countertops are more expensive than quartz, which, coincidentally is crafted to look like natural granite. However, granite is far more durable and adds natural beauty to the kitchen counter top.

At the Traditional Designs website, customers can now look at the granite choices from all angles, like as if they are actually looking at the real thing. They can choose between a polished finish, which means the counter top is smooth and shiny; and a matte finish, which entails that it is non-glossy.

Customers would also have the opportunity to visualize the 16 different counter top edge styles available. Grouped into five categories, the edge choices range from the basic to the elaborate. Edge stylessome of which are named after the shapes, objects, and curves they mimic or possessinclude Straight Edge, Knife, Bullnose, Pencil, Bevel, Waterfall, and Bullnose.

The size or thickness of each edge style is 0.75 (3/4") inches or 1.5 (1 ") inches. The " edge, which is conventional in the Houston market, possesses the thickness of 2-centimeter (2CM) granite. The 1 " edge is laminated and equivalent to getting a 3CM counter top. Traditional Designs produces it by placing laminated piece on the " edge for a thicker appearance. With a longer production period, the 1 " edge styles are more expensive than their " counterparts.

Customers interested in kitchen countertops from Traditional Designs can contact the company once they have decided on their style, color, and finish options. A faxed sketch or drawing of the desired projectalong with specifications, such as material type, thickness, and type of sinkwould be helpful to the company's staff of professionals.

New basement, elevator part of $650,000 project

Amherst First Baptist is undergoing a $650,000 renovation that will include a new basement and the installation of an elevator.

    Darrell Cole - Cumberlandnewsnow.com

Rev. Byron Corkum looks over plans for the $600,000 renovation of Amherst First Baptist that will include a new basement and the installation of an elevator. The church will be launching a capital campaign in August. The project will be complete by fall.

AMHERST Amhersts historic First Baptist Church is set to undergo a significant change.

The church is just about ready to launch a capital campaign in the community to raise the $650,000 necessary to complete a series of much-needed renovations including remodeling the basement of the building and installing an elevator.

Its the first renovations weve done in the basement in 60 years, while the elevator is something we need to make the building completely accessible, Rev. Byron Corkum said Wednesday while looking over plans. We really needed a new kitchen facility in the basement and an elevator is a necessity for when we move things to the basement and its also important in terms of accessibility.

Corkum expects the renovations will begin later this month and be complete by the end of October. The elevator will be finished by the end of the year.

The renovation will include a new kitchen in the basement as well as a complete redesign. Corkum said walls will be knocked down so that the main room is bigger. He said the basement will be rewired and will have a new sound system, there will be new ceilings and new walls.

At present, the basement is used for youth group, for meetings and other events. The church is also a comfort centre for the Town of Amherst and Municipality of Cumberland and Corkum said the renovations will include a new bathroom thats barrier-free and will also include a shower.

CCP holding workshops on theater production

    - July 17, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

WHEN we attend a theater performance today, usually in the evening, the show is commonly set in an indoor stage illuminated by artificial light.

When we attend an outdoor musical concert together with hundreds of audience, even if we are meters away from the stage, we still enjoy the amplified sound and its variants.

Stage lighting makes the other elements of theatrical production visible. But it does much more, because it plays a major role in creating mood and atmosphere, in emphasizing and subordinating visual elements, and in blending the entire stage picture.

Similarly, sound design is recognized nowadays as the fourth design discipline, along with scenery, lighting and costume. This recognition owes to the development of digitized sound that, in conjunction with computers, permits designers to create and manipulate sound waves, not merely record or amplify them.

In the provinces, tight budget and expensive lights and sounds equipment has spurred the invention of alternative ways to illuminate and amplify a stage performance.

But with the prices for equipment becoming less expensive, with some entrepreneurs renting out performance equipment like lights and sound, the young breed of performing artists and technicians must now learn how to handle these tools of technology.

On the other hand, in mounting a theater production or managing an event, two teams interplay: the artistic and the production.

The artistic team creates while the other team supports this creating. This is where Stage and Production Management comes in. The first is directly involved in rehearsals, and the second provides the resources for the rehearsals.

In response to this need, the Outreach and Exchange Division of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will conduct Capability Building Workshops in Bacolod City on July 25 to 27.

The project is in partnership with the Negros Museum and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. There are three simultaneous workshops that will be offered, namely Lighting Design, Sound Design and the Production Management.

    Factory-for-homes plan

Three architects have unveiled their proposed designs for Heathrow City, if the existing airport closes in favour of another location.

The Heathrow designs come just days after reports said costs for an estuary airportcould far exceed estimates (which we thought was a given for infrastructure projects but what do we know?) and have been commissioned by Transport for London (TfL) at a cost of 90,000. The mayor said:

The demand for new homes and jobs in the capital is such that we must be ready to start redeveloping Heathrow the moment it moves to its new site. And the sooner we start planning the better.

The three Heathrow proposals aim to provide much-needed homes and jobs for London.HawkinsBrown envisages a giant factory where people canorder homes to their own specifications whileRick Mather Architects andMaccreanor Lavington are centred around living cities.

The Airports Commission is set to make a decision in 2015 on whether to opt for a third runway at Heathrow or back London mayor Boris Johnsons plan for anestuary airport. The consultation is open until 8 August.
