Television sets and household lighting will not cut out if England wins the World Cup this summer, the energy secretary has assured the country, despite a predicted power surge as millions tune in to watch the match.

Ed Davey said he has been assured by National Grid that the UK can generate enough electricity to meet what would likely be the highest domestic energy surge ever if the England team made it to the final of the football World Cup in Brazil.

If England were to reach the World Cup Final - listen, just stay with me for a minute - if that were to happen, Grid's data suggests it's possible we could see the highest domestic electricity demand surge ever, he told the Economists UK Energy 2014 conference.

He added that he had spoken to National Grid about this: And I can report that National Grid have assured me that the UK has enough electricity generating capacity ready to meet any World Cup spike - through the group stages and beyond to history.

Mumbai:Shruti Haasan recently acquired a huge flat in Mumbai, and our sources tell us that she is now busy doing up the interiors, having chosen to forego the services of a professional decorator.

A friend of the actress told us, The formalities of purchasing the house were completed last month. She was staying at rented house in Bandra for over five years and always wanted to own a house. She has finally managed to fulfil this dream on her own. Her father (Kamal Haasan) is very proud of her.

Considering that this is something shes wanted for so long, its not surprising that she wants her home decor to bear the stamp of her personality.

Shrutis apartment is a spacious one, with two bedrooms, in one of the top storeys of a high rise. Our source tells us that the actress has a dedicated space where she has set up some high-end speakers and her music collection: Her living room will have photos of her and her parents Shruti has flown to Dehradun for a film shoot but will return next week and check on the developments.

When we contacted Shruti, she said, I feel really blessed to have done this all on my own.

Curtis said Winegar & Sons deals only with prefinished hardwood of which there are two kinds: engineered and solid.

The kind of hardwood best suited for a home depends on the specific owner's need for it as well as its placement within the house. The first question Curtis said he asks customers is "where are you putting it? Above grade or below grade (underground/basement)?"

Engineered hardwood is more stable than solid hardwood and is often better for homes in this area because it's more sustainable to moisture, Curtis explained.

"Solid hardwood can expand and contract which leads to cupping. Engineered hardwood, because of cross laminating, will not move... there are only certain places you can put solid in a house. You can put engineered everywhere."
