Scottsdale Arizona Air Conditioning Company Announces 13-SEER to 14-SEER AC Upgrade on Select Company Installed Units

    - June 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) June 10, 2014

Most of the older installed A/C and HP systems still use R-22 refrigerants. And the more age a unit accumulates, the greater becomes the cost of keeping it running. Summer is here. Residents of Scottsdale and other Arizona localities readily vouch the point. Repair prices are also increasing. And now, hundreds of worn-out home and business HVAC systems are crashing beneath the toll of ever-increasing heat.

This may well be the best possible time to install an energy-efficient cooling system. From the opening estimate, ACH offers phenomenally low pricing on heat pump installation and air conditioning installation. But now through July 1, management has declared that every Scottsdale residential customer is eligible to reap an automatic 13-SEER to 14-SEER upgrade on select heating and cooling units.

If your existing installed air conditioning system demands repetitive seasonal repairs, this American Cooling and Heating A/C sale is for you, Scot Morgan, ACH.

Arizona weather is merciless. Every Scottsdale, AZ air conditioning system battles the seasonal rise in temperatures, storms and dust. Maintaining a comfortable home or business environment is costly. But with modern HVAC technology, extremely sensitive thermostat controls, and a cooling system that is right-sized for the home, comfort can come with an energy-saving payback that makes sweat music out of the ACH 13-SEER to 14-SEER upgrade program.

Too many Scottsdale homeowners are giving up sleep, play and even work due to inefficient home cooling. American Cooling and Heating provides a reliable and cost-effective solution.

Make It A Heat Pump Solution

Due to the dual purpose use, heat pumps cost a bit more than standard central air conditioning systems. However, the year-round savings of a system that provides heat as well as cooling, typically make buying a heat pump the best option for most Scottsdale homes.

Consider the advantages of heat pump technology:

Maximize the cool during summers heat

    - June 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

We all know that sweaty, drippy 90-degree, 100-percent humidity feeling. While we havent had that hot, sticky kind of weather yet, we know its coming this summer, and it pays to be prepared.

Even if you have air conditioning at home like almost 90 percent of Americans, there are still ways to maximize the cool during the hottest days of summer.

Leave your air conditioning units fan in the on position all the time, advised Mike Fields, service technician at Dave Lamb Heating & Cooling in Fenton. Also, maintain a constant temperature in your home, especially if its humid outdoors. Dont turn off the air when you leave your house, then turn it on when you get home, and expect it to be cool right away.

When running your air conditioner, set your thermostat as high as comfortably possible in the summer try it at 78 degrees or higher. Each degree setting below 78 degrees will increase energy consumption by about 8 percent. The less difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures, the less your overall cooling bill will be.

Fields also suggests that you size your air conditioner based on the size of your home. Some people buy an air conditioner thats too large, thinking it will provide better cooling. However, an oversized air conditioner is actually less effective and an energy waster.

For every 600 square feet of house, you need a ton of air conditioning, he said. In BTUs per hour, an area that is 1,400 to 1,500 square feet needs 24,000 BTUs. Have your house properly sized for air conditioning. There are so many variables, such as the age of your house, how large your ducts are, etc.

All homeowners with air conditioning also need to be aware of the phasing out of the ozone-depleting refrigerant R22 in 2015, a staple in most systems.

Customers need to check their units now, because R22 and its replacement 410A are not compatible, said Fields. He suggests that homeowners check with a heating and cooling professional to see how this environmental change will affect their system.

Other ways to stay cool at home this summer

Install programmable thermostat to automatically reduce the temperatures during low-occupancy hours.

At Home Living: Outdoor kitchen also great place to congregate

    - June 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

When entertaining, where do most people at a party like to congregate? In the kitchen.

Where would be an even better place for partygoers to congregate when the weather is nice?

    In an outdoor kitchen.

Its like continuing the living room and the kitchen outside, says Jason Keller at Wolfes Landscape and Irrigation, Inc. in Topeka. Youre stretching the living area from the inside outside.

Keller adds that outdoor kitchensalso known as patio kitchens--are becoming more frequent and sometimes even include running water, sinks, electricity, refrigeratorseverything except a dishwasher, he jokes.

Other over-the-top luxuries can include mosquito misters, outdoor air conditioning and lot-length counter tops.

With gas lines, water lines, sewer lines and electric lines, Keller says the projects can grow quickly in complexityand cost.

Ive seen some homeowners do it, Keller said. But it takes a lot of time. They can do it if they are mechanically inclined.

    But be prepared to pay.

He says a simple and small outdoor kitchen could cost in the $5,000 range. From there, it depends upon how many amenities the homeowner wants. Keller says if thats the case, expect to pay what a typical total indoor remodeling might cost--$30-$50,000.

State building to keep controversial exhibit

    - June 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

An art exhibit critical of the Chinese government will not be taken down from the lobby of a prominent state office building this week after all.

Georgia Building Authority officials had a change of heart after the exhibits sponsors asked them to leave the paintings up until July 5, the previously agreed-upon finish date.

The paintings greet visitors of the James H. Sloppy Floyd Building near the state Capitol with images of torture, murder and organ harvesting. Members of the Falun Gong movement, a spiritual practice from the Buddha school, said that an early exit from the building would have been expensive.

We already made effort to continue the exhibition at another location at the end of the two-month period, said Frank Xie, in an email obtained through open records by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. An early termination will incur great amount of expenses to our non-profit organization.

The exhibit began on May 2, after an application from the Falun Gong Association of Atlanta was accepted.

It was approved at a time when Georgia continues to court investment and business from China, the states second-largest export market. The Chinese government outlawed Falun Gong practices in 1999, calling it a cult.

A GBA official told Xie on Tuesday that the paintings would have to be taken down by the end of the day.

We are completing construction and have parties interested in displaying their items, wrote Kashara Blake-Parks, an administrative operations specialist.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution first reported on the exhibits planned removal that afternoon, five days after reaching out to the GBA for comment about the exhibit.

Xie emailed the GBA, urging them to allow the exhibit to continue. He said GBA Executive Director Steve Stancil called him to straighten things out soon after.

$8M medical office building planned in Summerville

    - June 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

By Ashley Barker abarker@scbiznews.com Published June 13, 2014

Summerville Medical Center is planning to build a 40,000-square-foot medical office building at 295 Midland Parkway, according to a news release.

The two-story, $8 million facility will be connected to Summerville Medical Center and will give patients access to robotic surgery, bariatric surgery, MRI, obstetric services and a maternal fetal telemedicine program.

A groundbreaking event will be held at 10 a.m. June 25.

Summerville Medical Center has added many specialty services in recent years, according to CEO Lisa Valentine.

That growth will continue as we build this important addition to our medical campus. This venture gives our patients closer choices and additional convenience when it comes to their health care options, Valentine said in a statement.

The project is currently in the pre-leasing stage and several medical practices have shown strong interest in the project, according to Terry Cunningham, vice president of operations.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corp. of America, the parent company of Summerville Medical Center, will own the building, and Lee & Associates Charleston will oversee leasing. Barton Malow will develop the construction project, which is expected to be complete in the spring of 2015, according to the news release.

Cambridge's pest control service saved as Labour starts work at city council

Labour fulfilled one of its manifesto pledges within hours of officially taking control of Cambridge City Council but was taken to task over its plans for tackling poverty and anti-social behaviour.

The Liberal Democrats decision to shut the authoritys pest control service had been a key issue during the election campaign and Labour, which won a majority in last months polls, reversed that resolution in one of its first actions at todays annual meeting.

The party went further, announcing that charges for eradicating mice would be scrapped.

Cllr Peter Roberts, the executive councillor for environmental and waste services, said pest control was a basic service that people expected a council to provide and closing the team would have left infestations unchecked.

Cllr Roberts told the meeting: Very hard decisions have to be made over the next few years and we accept that, sadly, that will mean people have to lose their jobs, but we are not willing to play with what we think is a public health issue.

The Liberal Democrats abstained, with spokesman Cllr Mike Pitt acknowledging the electorate had spoken but arguing the decision had been forced by funding cuts.

Earlier, Labour chief Cllr Lewis Herbert was elected as the councils new leader and the partys programme was endorsed.
