Hedge Funds Wager on U.S. Gasoline Gains as Exports Rise: Energy

    - April 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Surging demand for U.S. gasoline from Latin America and Africa, coupled with refinery maintenance, is spurring speculators to bet that prices will keep rising after reaching a nine-month high.

Money managers boosted net-long positions by 3.8 percent in the week ended April 22 to the highest level in more than a year, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission said. Long positions reached a 14-month high.

Exports of U.S. gasoline were 35 percent above the five-year average in 2013 and are forecast to climb further in 2014 as refinery outages and rising consumption boosts shipments to Brazil, Colombia and Nigeria. Unplanned repairs at U.S. plants threaten to lower production already reduced by seasonal work.

Refiners are having a hard time keeping pace with the overall demand, both domestically and internationally, Tom Finlon, director of Energy Analytics Group Ltd, said from Jupiter, Florida, on April 23.

Gasoline for May delivery climbed 5.31 cents, or 1.7 percent, to $3.0952 a gallon on the New York Mercantile Exchange during the report period, the highest level since July 19. Futures dropped 1.1 percent to settle at $3.0403 today and are up 9.1 percent this year.

The U.S. Gulf Coast, home to more than half of U.S. refining capacity, shipped an average of 368,000 barrels a day of finished motor gasoline in 2013, compared with 262,200 in the previous five years, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data.

Shipments to Colombia are set to climb as Ecopetrol SA, the state-owned oil company, carries out work at its Cartagena and Barrancabermeja refineries, according to the Paris-based International Energy Agency. The country imported about 170,000 barrels of oil products a day in January, almost all from the U.S., the IEA said in a report April 11.

Oil demand in Brazil reached a four-month high of 3.2 million barrels a day in February and is expected to expand 2.9 percent this year, according to the IEA. Deliveries to Nigeria more than doubled in 2013 from a year earlier. The countrys economy is forecast to increase by 7.1 percent this year, according to the International Monetary Fund.

Were basically supplying the world, Greg Sharenow, executive vice president at Pacific Investment Management Co., said from Newport Beach, California, on April 25. Its another source in the demand picture and helps gasoline balances stay tighter in the U.S.

Gasoline consumption in the U.S. averaged 8.69 million barrels a day in the four weeks ended April 18 and will reach 8.94 million in the second quarter, EIA data showed. Demand usually peaks between the Memorial Day weekend in late May and Labor Day in early September as motorists take summer vacations.

Demolition starts on contested church in China

    - April 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Chinas Communist Party keeps a tight grip on religion, fearing challenges to its authority, but allows worship at state-controlled churches.

Authorities had approved the construction of the Sanjiang Church in Wenzhou city with an area of 1,881 square metres (20,240 square feet) but the finished building was roughly four times that size, state media have reported.

Images posted online showed the church surrounded by several bright yellow excavators, some gouging holes in the side of the towering structure.

Today the Wenzhou Sanjiang church is being demolished, where will our more than 1,000 believers gather after this? Why tear down our church? Caoyuan Zhibing said in a microblog posting which included a photo said to be from the scene, in the eastern province of Zhejiang.

Thousands of worshippers have previously flocked to the church to protect it, but online postings said police locked down the area on Monday, blocking traffic.

Fix it up: How to hire general maintenance help

    - April 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

You love your home. But that leaky faucet, clogged gutter or cracked shower tile is driving you crazy. Who ya gonna call? A handyperson. This general practitioner of the home-repair industry is the go-to professional for jobs you don't want to do, haven't time to do or simply can't do (and have no business attempting).

You don't want to hire just anyone. Like a housekeeper, caregiver or babysitter, a handyman has access to your home. The right one is more than just a guy, or gal, with a tool box. It's someone with whom you may build a long-term trusting relationship.

Heather Bays, a single parent living in Lowry, found her current handyman by asking a friend who is a real estate agent for a recommendation. Most recently, she had him replace an 8-foot-by-10-foot backyard planter.

"The referral from my friend was key," says Bays. "I want someone I know and trust to have used this person before and be satisfied with the work."

Word of mouth is still the favored way to find a pro. But instead of swapping info over the backyard fence, many of us head online, using neighborhood social networks such as Nextdoor.com. After all, if someone you know has used a particular handyman, odds are he won't disappear overnight.

When he wanted to remodel the kitchen in his 1928 Spanish bungalow, Hilltop resident John Sunderland turned to Craigslist. His approach: Place a notice in the Gigs section under "Labor."

Sunderland carefully laid out the project, noting that he need an "experienced carpenter" and asked for three references with phone numbers. Of the four responses, only one provided the information he asked for. Impeccable references scored him the job.

After a test "job" replacing two kitchen windows went well, Sunderland hired him for the rest of the kitchen redo and plans to have him drywall the garage ceiling.

A handyman for nine years, Buddy Hendrickson says he appreciates clients who let him know their expectations. "It's all about the right fit. Someone is letting me into their home and I respect that," he says.

Online services such as HomeAdvisor.com (formerly Service Magic) or Angie's List match homeowners with qualified service professionals and include user reviews. While Angie's List charges users to search listings, Denver-based HomeAdvisor's ProFinder is free. Listed professionals pay a membership fee and must pass a financial and background check.

Branson MO Pressure Washing Company, Renew Crew of Branson, Celebrates Its Annual Spring Kickoff Event And 21st …

    - April 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Branson, MO (PRWEB) April 28, 2014

The beginning of the spring season means property owners are once again looking for pressure washing, wood cleaning and similar exterior cleaning services to refresh the look of their yards, decks and patios. The team at annual Spring Kickoff has been preparing for the spring season rush and expects 2014 to be the busiest year yet. As part of their Spring Kickoff celebration, the team celebrated the 21st anniversary of the launching of annual Spring Kickoff as a local franchise. According to the Small Business Development Center 25% of businesses fail in their first year and only 29% of start-ups are still operating after 10 years. The fact that Renew Crew of Branson is thriving in its 21st year is a testament to the superiority of the Renew Crew process over traditional pressure washing and the outstanding service provided by the team. As part of an established and successful national franchise, Renew Crew of Branson can offer cutting-edge cleaning technology and a 100% satisfaction guarantee, something other providers of wood cleaning and pressure washing in Branson cannot compete with.

Entering the busiest season of the year, Renew Crew of Branson has 10 outdoor cleaning professionals to tackle anything from an entire log home to a small deck. The freezing and thawing cycles of winter can be more harmful to wood than any other season. Renew Crew's 3-step approach surpasses cleaning winter grime and mildew off of wood. It also seals and protects the wood to better withstand the summer sun and next winter's rain. Any day is a good day to have outdoor wood fences, decks, and shingles cleaned by professionals. Within just a day, wood, brick, siding and most other outdoor surfaces can be restored to a 'nearly new' appearance.

All estimates are complimentary. Appointments for estimates and cleaning dates fill up quickly once spring begins, so homeowners are encouraged to call and schedule an appointment.

    About Renew Crew Branson

Renew Crew has a specially formulated three step process to clean outside surfaces safely while keeping landscaping intact. Step one is the application of a foam cleaner to soak and loosen dirt and grime. Step Two is similar to traditional pressure washing to spray away the grime. Step Three is the application of a protective sealant to keep outdoor spaces beautiful longer. The process is suitable for wood decks, wood fences, concrete patios, driveways, vinyl siding, stucco, log homes and many others. All Renew Crew locations offer free estimates.
