SPECIAL TO THE PRESS
PLAINVILLE FrontStreet Facility Solutions has partnered with Make-A-Wish Connecticut to grant local 12-year-old Andrews wish for the bedroom of his dreams on April 29, World Wish Day.
Andrew shared his ideas for a dream bedroom with Make-A-Wish, whose mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
FrontStreet, a maintenance and management company, and the foundation officially kicked off the project on April 21. A celebration will be held on April 29 as Andrews new room is revealed. After learning about Andrews wish and that he loves to eat pasta, the West Hartford Olive Garden joined the effort and will provide complimentary catering for the event.
World Wish Day is the day we celebrate the first wish ever granted, explained Make-A-Wish Connecticut publicist Michael Dominick. Make-A-Wish chapters from all around the world will be granting wishes of all different types on this special day as we remember together our grassroots beginnings from over 30 years ago, and celebrate the over 250,000 children who have been touched by a wish since the first wish in 1980.
FrontStreet joined forces with the foundation to assist with paint and painting services, heating vents, ceiling tile replacement and repainting, lighting and carpet installation for Andrews new nautical-themed bedroom. FrontStreet also worked with its strategic partners to secure in-kind donations of tables, a television and necessary hardware, surround sound, a pool table and a foosball table. This partnership with Make-A-Wish, and specifically Andrews wish, was the ideal opportunity for giving back, Joseph Scaretta, FrontStreet chief development officer, said. The room renovation allowed us to go beyond monetary donation to creating an innovative solution based on FrontStreets expertise and partnerships. We are so honored to be a part of granting such an incredible young mans wish.
When FrontStreet offered to become a part of Andrews wish, we were thrilled, Dominick said. And now, to see the level of commitment they have given to making his wish come true, the attention to detail and the genuine passion they have shown while going above and beyond has been inspiring to us all.

Members of the Polish community in Galway at the Mass of Thanksgiving for the canonisation of Blessed Pope John XXIII and Blessed Pope John Paul II at Galway Racecourse in Ballybrit yesterday. Photograph: Joe OShaughnessy
A number of events took place around Ireland yesterday to mark the double canonisation of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II.
A crowd of about 3,000 turned out in brilliant sunshine at Ballybrit racecourse in Galway for a thanksgiving Mass 35 years after an estimated 200,000 travelled from all over the country for the Papal Youth Mass celebrated by John Paul II in 1979.
Among them was Deirdre Walsh from Oughterard in Connemara. I remember when the popes helicopter landed at the racecourse. It was magic, Ms Walsh, who was accompanied by her husband, John, said.
When I heard they were going to have this Mass, I just knew I had to be here, she added.
Yesterdays chief celebrant, Bishop Martin Drennan of Galway, was joined by five other bishops and 30 priests on the same red altar carpet which was used for the 1979 Mass.
A ceremony in Tralee, Co Kerry, saw relics of both the canonised saints installed in the Dominican priory in the town. The Holy Cross Church is believed to be the only church in Ireland and one of only a handful throughout Christendom with relics of both popes and those of Polish saint Sr Faustina, whose relics were also installed yesterday.
Dominican prior Fr Joe Bulman, who presided at the Mass to mark the installation of the relics, said: As far as I know, we are the only church in Ireland to have all three of them. We had been told it was an absolute impossibility to get all three relics.
Cinema screens Elsewhere, up to 400 cinema-goers watched a live feed of the canonisations on two cinema screens at Movies@Dundrum, one of which was a 3D screening.
The cinema was one of four in Ireland which screened the Mass using live footage from 13 3D cameras positioned around St Peters Square which the Vatican said was to give those who could not attend a fully immersive experience.

The American Institute of Architects has revealed its 2014 selection of top ten green buildings in the US. As was the case with last years list, the judges came up with an interesting list of buildings that includes some lesser-publicized green-building projects, such as a homeless shelter, a treehouse, and even a Net-Zero energy courthouse. Read on below as Gizmag briefly covers each of the selections.
As a key part of Portland, Oregon's decade-long effort to combat homelessness, the Bud Clark Commons building provides a safe place for vulnerable people to transition from sleeping on the streets to living in a stable home. The building features a walk-in day center, support services, 90 temporary shelter beds, and 130 furnished studio apartments which serve as permanent housing.
Green technology in the LEED Platinum project include greywater recycling, solar hot water, heat recovery ventilation, and natural daylight.
The Bushwick Inlet Park project represents the first phase of a plan to transform Brooklyn's Williamsburg waterfront from an industrial brownfield site into a public park. So far, the area has seen play fields, classrooms, public facilities, and park maintenance buildings added.
The park also received a large multi-use community center complete with green roof, in addition to a large solar trellis that produces half of the total electricity used in the building. Other green features include ground source heat pump wells, rainwater harvesting and drip irrigation.
The high-rise Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt (EGWW) Federal Building Project was originally constructed in 1975 by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The recent modernization by SERA Architects and Cutler Anderson Architects sought to update the aging building with modern energy-efficient technologies. Clearly this worked, as it's lauded by the AIA judges as being on its way to becoming one of the lowest energy-use buildings in the US.
EGWW sports a facade comprising novel sunshades that limit solar heat gain, along with a roof-based solar array and rainwater collection system.
The SUNY-ESF College of Environmental Science & Forestry Gateway Center is the oldest institution in the US to focus on the careful study of the environment. Its new LEED Platinum campus center fosters teaching and research, and makes up part of ESF's ambitious commitment to reach complete carbon neutrality by 2015.
The LEED Platinum campus was built using metal shingles and recycled concrete blocks, in addition to sustainably-sourced wood. A green roof, solar panels, solar hot water, and a very efficient rainwater-collection system were all installed during the build.
Originally constructed to serve as a US Post Office and Courthouse back in 1918, the Wayne N. Aspinall Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse recently received a LEED Platinum renovation. Based in Grand Junction, Colorado, the building has duly been updated with enough sustainable technology and design to turn it into what's reportedly one of the most energy-efficient historic buildings in the country.

Bangalore has been ranked 31st among the global cities actively adding shopping centre space in 2014, according to the latest Global Viewpoint from CBRE Research.
According to CBRE research, New Delhi is ranked 21st, Hyderabad 23rd, and Bangalore 31st, among the global cities with the maximum shopping centre space under construction in 2014.
India continues to see a wave of new shopping centre development despite some developers pushing back completion dates due to the financing issues.
Around 500,000 sq m of new retail space is under construction in New Delhi. The largest two projects, DLF Mall of India NOIDA (204,385 sq m) and Logix City Center Mall (111,483 sq m), are both located in Noida. Among tier II cities in India, Hyderabad is the most active market with a supply pipeline (483,000 sq m) presently three times greater than its existing stock. Buoyant occupier demand is pushing for a strong development pipeline in New Delhi with 500,000 sq m of new retail space presently under construction.
Globally, a total of 39 million sq m of shopping centre space is presently under construction across the major cities, representing a 3 million sq m increase from 2013, according to the report. Most of this development activity for shopping centre space around the world is focused in China. According to the report, over half of the shopping centre space under construction in the 180 countries surveyed is taking place within Chinas borders. Shanghai takes the first position with 3.3 million sq m of space under construction more than the combined total of all 86 European cities, excluding those in Russia and Turkey. Just behind Shanghai is Chengdu with 3.2 million sq m, followed by Shenzhen and Tianjin with 2.7 million sq m and 2.5 million sq m under construction, respectively.
Commenting on the findings of the report, Anshuman Magazine, CMD, CBRE, South Asia Pvt Ltd, said: Strong economic growth in many Asian markets has been attracting an increasing number of cross-border retailers. Though China remains by far the most active market for shopping centre development, the tier I and II cities of India are also among the most active globally.
He added, Unfortunately, however, there continues to exist a dearth of quality shopping space in many of our market places.
Along with the large-scale urbanization of our leading cities and a burgeoning middle class population, it is this that has been driving shopping center development forward.
The scale of new development in Asia and China in particular is staggering but there are a number of quite understandable factors behind it. The most reported is economic growth, which continues although now with some signs of slowing down. In addition, Chinese cities, and many others in Asia, present a physical environment that lends itself to environment-controlled shopping centres. Outdoor shopping can be too hot, too humid, too cold, too wet, too unsafe or too dirty and polluted modern shopping centres are none of these when managed properly, said Sebastian Skiff, Executive Director of CBRE Retail.
Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia falls just outside the top 10 coming in as the 11th most active market globally. Southeast Asia has 3.3 million sq m under construction and nearly 40 per cent of this is located in the Malaysian city. In Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi have also seen a large number of new developments in suburban areas and are seeing strong leasing demand from retailers attracted by lower rents and the lower-to-mid income residences nearby.

The three-level parking structure will be built along Townsgate Drive, expanding an existing parking field behind the center. All of the centers current parking is in surface lots.
The parking structure will have about 600 new parking spaces and will include top-level walkways, three pedestrian entries and landscaped trellises.
Construction is expected to begin in late 2015 and conclude in mid2017, officials said. The center will remain open during construction, and operators will be conducting consumer surveys to gather input on coming improvements.
The retail center was entitled in the mid-1980s, with city-approved plans allowing for a total of 425,000 square feet of retail and a parking structure. The center opened in 1989 at the intersection of Del Mar Heights Road and El Camino Real, and completed a $20 million renovation in 2011.
