ReBath Northeast Bringing Mobile Showroom to Carbon County Home & Garden Expo

    - April 25, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Forty Fort, PA (PRWEB) April 25, 2014

ReBath Northeast will be bringing its mobile showroom to the Carbon County Home, Garden & Business Expo in Danielsville. The mobile showroom is a great place to get bathroom remodeling ideas and schedule an estimate.

Since the Carbon County Expo is partially outside at the Blue Mountain Ski Area, owner of ReBath Northeast, Rich Rome thought it would be a great opportunity to bring the mobile showroom for everyone to see.

The mobile showroom is a great example of all the bathroom remodeling options ReBath Northeast offers. Anyone who visits will be able to see a walk-in shower, a walk-in bathtub, a full bathroom remodel and a bathtub replacement.

A friendly and knowledgeable ReBath Northeast associate will be available all weekend to answer questions and schedule appointments for free estimates.

Since this is the last home show of the spring season for ReBath Northeast, the coupon offer is the best one yet. Anyone who visits the mobile showroom will receive a coupon for either $1000 off a tub to shower conversion, $2000 off a walk-in tub or 10% off a full bathroom remodel. To receive these special offers, anyone who is interested must visit the Carbon County Home Show.

The show will begin Saturday April 26 at 10 a.m. and run through 8 p.m. On Sunday, the show will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Carbon County Home, Garden & Business Expo has so much to offer. Along with over 100 businesses, there will also be an electronic recycling center 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The Carbon County Builders Association will also be giving away a Weber Grill valued at $900 and will host ski lift rides, as well as a kids corner.

    Church serving a growing community

    - April 25, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Construction is underway on a $1.2 million expansion of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Weston.

When work finishes in November, the sanctuary will be 3,400 square feet, more than triple what it is now, allowing the church to accommodate about 100 more members.

"We went through some fits and starts, but it's finally happening," said Pastor Tim Hartner, who has been with the church since 1990. " It allows for more people to worship. We also wanted to enhance the inside of our sanctuary to make it more dramatic, beautiful and include some traditional features, like stained glass windows, a more prominent chancel, chancel cross, altar area and communion rail for people to kneel."

The project has been planned for about a decade. Leaders had to raise money, finalize plans and go through the permitting process.

"We had great collaboration and support from the city of Weston and our commissioners. The day that we received our permit was a very happy day for me," said Colleen Smith McDoom, chairwoman of the church's building committee and a 22-year parishioner. "We formed an exploratory building committee a few years ago, and it was a surreal experience the day we broke ground. I am really looking forward to the completion of the project and worshiping in the new sanctuary."

The last service in the old space was in February. Once the 11 a.m. service concluded, people began clearing out the room. A demolition crew showed up the next week.

Three of the walls were left standing and half the roof. Another wall was knocked down with the changes to the ceiling configuration and roof design. Hartner said they like the architectural plan and the fact that the pews aren't permanent, allowing for flexibility in how the space is used. Until the facility is finished, services are being staged outdoors.

"Thank God for nice weather," Hartner said. "The last six weeks, Sunday mornings have been beautiful. We are very fortunate to have a nice covered walkway and a portable chancel on wheels. We put an altar on that. Every Sunday morning, that's where I preach, lead and preside. We have a canopy to keep the sun off. It's worked out really well."

Smith McDoom is excited about the project, as well as future plans to add a kitchen, bathrooms, fellowship space and storage.

"We have received tremendous support from the congregation and have an opportunity to expand space to further the missions and ministries at St. Paul," she said. "While the specifics aren't final, we anticipate the plans will allow us to expand our ability to share the gospel's good news."

    Groundbreaking

Bishop John Folda speaks during groundbreaking ceremonies in West Fargo for Trinity Elementary School and the Holy Cross Catholic Church parish Thursday, April 24, 2014. David Samson / The Forum

WEST FARGO About 250 people crowded into the bus barn of Holy Cross Church on Thursday to celebrate the groundbreaking for a new Holy Cross site and Trinity Elementary School.

What was a dreary, drizzly, spring noon hour for most of the F-M area was a lot brighter in the oversized-garage as the crowd joyfully sang hymns.

Its an amazing occasion, and were so happy weve come to this point, said Bishop John Folda, the leader of the Fargo Catholic Diocese.

Theres a lot of work yet to be done, but were moving. Its exciting, Folda told the crowd.

When events moved outdoors, the crowd was spared from rain during the ceremonial turning of the earth with shovels. They then applauded and cheered when Folda climbed into the cab of a Komatsu excavator to use its bucket to take a more emphatic bite out of the sopped soil at 2820 Bluestem Drive.

The 76,000 square feet of the combined Holy Cross Church and Trinity Elementary will be built on 12 acres about a quarter-mile south of Costco and a couple of blocks west of Veterans Boulevard.

It is an area of West Fargo quickly filling with homes, condominiums, businesses and apartment complexes.

Folda told those assembled that Trinity will be the first new school in the Blessed John Paul II Catholic Schools Network in decades. He added that construction of a newer, larger Holy Cross Church will be a new step in the life of that congregation.

Highland Park, residents oppose new apartment building plans

    - April 25, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

A new luxury seven-story apartment building is slated for the popular Knox-Henderson neighborhood.

The property is right on the border of Dallas and Highland Park, and it has some Highland Park homeowners saying, "Not in my backyard."

Highland Park has already passed a resolution saying its not on board because it would infringe on the enjoyment and privacy of the town's residents, especially at Abbott Park.

The dynamics will definitely change, said Angeline Cohen, who frequents the park with her 2-year-old son. It will get more crowded.

Developers want to spend $80 million on the 258-unit high-end building, where rentals would range from $3,000 to $5,000 a month.

But luxury upgrade is not what some Highland Park residents like Joe Williams want in a neighbor.

His worry is that if zoning changes, too many people will be packed into a small space, congesting streets for everyone.

When you walk down the street, you see this pretty tree line, and you look up and there's the sky, said Williams. It would take that away. But I think now, one of the biggest concerns is just the pure traffic.

Frank Stich is with the powerful Oak Lawn Committee, advising Dallas City Council on area development. Stitch was around when another group attempted to rezone for a high-rise in 2005, but failed.

We think this is absolutely the best re-adaptive use of this site that we've seen in 10 years, said Stitch.

FIRST ON ORLANDOSENTINEL.COM Sudden acceleration considered in day care crash

    - April 25, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

The Florida Highway Patrol acknowledged Thursday that it's investigating whether a mechanical defect caused a Toyota to race out of control as it crashed into a Central Florida day care, killing one child and injuring 13 other children and one adult.

The 2006 Toyota Solara convertible, driven by Albert Campbell on April 9, was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Goldenrod Road before heading at increasing speed into the KinderCare Learning Center, according to witness accounts and FHP's initial crash report.

The same make, model and year were named in a lawsuit against Toyota settled for $1.6 billion in July. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Toyota owners complaining of lost resale value after sudden-acceleration complaints.

Toyota was fined $1.2 billion last month by the U.S. Department of Justice for misleading motorists about a faulty electronic-throttle system, attorney Eric Snyder said Thursday. Snyder is a partner in Bailey & Glasser, one of the law firms continuing to litigate these cases.

Years of complaints about Toyotas unexpectedly speeding, despite drivers' efforts to stop, prompted FHP traffic-homicide investigators to check Campbell's car.

"FHP is looking into every aspect of this crash, including the possibility of sudden acceleration," spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said Thursday.

"The investigating troopers will establish the path the vehicle took into the building to help determine if there were mechanical failures with the vehicle," she said.

It is unknown what Campbell told FHP after the crash, and his attorney, Stuart Hyman of Orlando, would not comment.

One of the unanswered questions about the crash is how a rear-end collision 100 feet from the building could send the Toyota through a front wall made of brick and cedar siding, into a classroom, and then push debris 70 feet across the floor before stopping.

A building inspection shortly after the crash found the 12-feet section of largely wood wall that the Toyota drove through had been damaged by termites, according to the Orange County Division of Building Safety.
