Mold Damages Tennessee Fire Station, Florida Mold Inspection Company AGC Environmental – Cites Method to Early …

    - February 11, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) February 11, 2014

Several mold problems were recently reported due to the harsh winter weather. And according to a report from firehouse.com dated February 10, 2014, one firehouse in Tennessee was among those structures badly affected by the fungus. Wanting to help the public avoid the worst of the mold's effects, Florida mold inspection company, AGC Environmental, suggested a method to an early remediation.

Based on the report, there were two fire houses in the state that were seeking repairs due to damages brought by the weather. As it detailed, they were the Fire Station No.1 and the Fire Station No.3, located at 440 Beechcroft Road and 4000 Campbell Station Parkway, respectively.

However, the report related that it was particularly the Fire Station No.3 that got a mold problem. It shared that the spores damaged its drywall, ceiling and other areas. Meanwhile, Fire House No.1, it relayed, was totaled by the bursting of a pipe.

Below is an excerpt from the said report.

Acting Fire Chief Brian Garza said the winter weather has brought unique problems to his department."

"It's been interesting for some time around here, especially at Station No. 3," he said. "We had a company come in and take out mold, which meant we had to leave the station.

The damages of mold in health and structures could bring in huge expenses, said AGC Environmental. However, it stated that those expenses could be kept at a minimum if fungus is discovered early on.

Because of that, the company advised the public to be watchful of mold signs and be always ready to implement a mold inspection. That way, it said, the spores could be blocked promptly from causing more problems.

But when it comes to Florida mold inspection, Florida air quality testing and Florida mold removal, AGC Environmental asserted that it's the one that could best provide them. As it cited, that's because its consultants and exterminators are certified professionals who follow the federal guidelines.

    MSP repairs moving forward

    - February 11, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

The state is moving forward with repairs and mold remediation at the old Missouri State Penitentiary, but no specific date has been confirmed to start the 2014 tour season.

Late last year, the city agreed to split with the state the estimated $2 million cost of repairs and mold remediation at MSP, in exchange for a long-term contract with the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau, or CVB, for use of the facility.

At the end of September, the CVB temporarily suspended all tours of the historic prison site, only to later announce the cancellation of all 2013 tours because of mold found at the site. Officials previously stated the goal is to reopen the prison by April, in time for the 2014 tour season.

Ryan Burns, spokesperson for the Missouri Office of Administration, said design activities for the renovations and cleanup are underway and final bids for the project will be received in late February and reviewed at that time.

As far as the state is concerned, we are absolutely on schedule, Burns said.

When asked if the state still planned on being able to reopen the prison for tours by April, Burns said its always been the plan to open in spring and the state is committed to that, though she could not give any more of a specific date for reopening.

Diane Gillespie, executive director of the CVB, said in her talks with OA, the goal is to open by March 15 or April, though she said there will be a meeting next week to discuss the timeline further.

I know that they (the state) are trying to expedite the process, Gillespie said.

The $2 million from the city and state will fund cleanup of hazardous material, window repairs and window closures in Housing Units 1, 3, 4 and the gas chamber, and each of those units also will have their roofs replaced. Burns said Plexiglas has been added to the windows on the south side of Housing Unit 4 and flashing repairs will be made.

Sen. Mike Kehoe recently sponsored a bill in the Missouri Senate that would allow events held at the Capitol or MSP to serve alcohol. Earlier this month, the City Council passed a resolution in support of Kehoes bill because it could widen the type of events held at the old prison, even potentially assisting any fundraising needs.

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) In Cambridge, those circular ads delivered in red plastic bags to peoples front porches, lawns, and driveways are causing a bit of a stir.

The City Council is set to discuss the issue Monday night after residents complained the circulars are wasteful.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030s Doug Cope reports

I dont look at them at all. I just throw them in the trash, a Cambridge resident told WBZ NewsRadio 1030s Doug Cope. Others say that they have tried to opt out of getting the circulars, but the delivery continues.

City Counselor Marc McGovern agrees that the ads are problematic.

Its a waste of their money and their time, and its unwanted by the customer, said McGovern. He adds that the bags are also bad for the environment.

Monday, the City Council will consider an ordinance regarding the circulars. They will also consider an overall ban on plastic bags in the city, similar to what Brookline has already done. MORE LOCAL NEWS FROM CBS BOSTON
