Score one for the little guys.

The 60-year-old Pelham Bay Little League was reimbursed two weeks ago after being forced to cough up cash to repair a city-owned baseball field destroyed by faulty sprinklers.

The city contractor that punctured a sprinkler system after workers drove heavy machinery across Pelham Park last year agreed to pay league officials $9,500 for repairs they made out of pocket in order to keep the baseball season afloat.

The Little Leagues dont have a lot of money and theyre not powerful, said Throgs Neck attorney Steve Kaufman, who represented the 48-team league in its dispute with the insurance company used by the contractor, UA Constsysydfsdfdrruction.

It makes me feel great I was able to step up to the plate and do something for these kids, added Kaufman, who served as a New York state Assemblyman between 1989 and 2004.

Kaufman presented league president Vinny Prestopino with the check June 6 at the Pelham Bay Little League fields.

The NYC Parks Department did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
