SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
International architecture firm SB Architects is pleased to announce that Simon Littler has joined the firm as the Managing Director of its Wine Practice. With 27 years in the wine industry, Simon is an internationally recognized expert in fine wine, with a deep understanding of the winemaking business, process and culture. Simon will lead the firms efforts as it expands it burgeoning winery design practice, both in the United States and in established and developing wine regions throughout the world.
During his decades-long tenure in the food and wine industry, Mr. Littler has worked directly within virtually every aspect of the wine business, as a restaurant chef and owner, vineyard developer, and entrepreneurial wine importer and retailer. He has developed several companies focused on re-thinking and expanding the international wine market, including a global company formed to facilitate and manage wine clubs for large brands such as Williams Sonoma, the New York Times and Food & Wine magazine. Mr. Little is a regular speaker at food and wine events around the world.
Much like architecture, wine-making is equal parts art and business, passion and production, asserts Mr. Littler. The importance of 'terroir' an expression of how the soil, climate, grapes , passion, culture and soul of a region come together holds true not only in making of wine, but in the practice of architecture as well.
The international world of wine is developing rapidly both in established wine-producing regions such as France, Spain and Italy, and in exciting new regions such as Brazil, Argentina and China. In response to the growing need for design partners who are not just architects and builders, but partners in the entire process of wine-making, SB Architects has developed its international wine practice as a comprehensive endeavor. The firm has the capacity to help owners create their dream of a new wine venture or assist established ownerships expand their facilities, products and brand. Following a holistic approach to this unique market, SB Architects has assembled the talent to provide a complete range of services, including site selection, vision and branding, product development, architecture and design, viticulture consulting and cellar consulting.
In over 50 years of continuous design practice, SB Architects has established a worldwide reputation for excellence in the planning and design of destination hotels and resorts, urban mixed-use and multi-family residential projects. The firm has several winery projects currently in development, including destination wineries in the Mediterranean and China. SB Architects regularly competes with some of the largest architecture firms in the world, yet it has maintained a hands-on, boutique practice driven by collaboration, teamwork and individual client relationships. Dedicated to sustainable design, the firm advocates a sustainable approach on every project it undertakes, and has received over 200 awards for design excellence.

SageGlass - Ball State University - Gary Canaday
The school wanted a skylight system that would preserve the open feeling of the space while reducing the glare and heat gain that made the area uncomfortable for students. SageGlass was installed with multiple zoning and intermediate-state capabilities, reducing the glare and heat while retaining the openness, creating a space where students now congregate in comfort. SageGlass enabled architects to incorporate more glass into the project without compromising on energy efficiency and a view to the outdoors for students. sageglass.comFrom:SAGEElectrochromicsViews:3 0ratingsTime:00:26More inScience Technology
