Justice NM Kasliwal, who has been appointed by the Supreme Court to oversee the Rajasthan Cricket Association elections, has cleared Lalit Modi to contest the polls on December 19.
Lalit Modi has been cleared to fight the Rajasthan Cricket Association presidential elections on Thursday. Justice NM Kasliwal, who has been appointed by the Supreme Court to oversee the RCA elections, said on Wednesday that there were no objections to Modi's nomination filed by his lawyer Mehmood Abdi. Modi has been RCA president in the past. He came into power via the Rajasthan Sports Act (2005) which was specially created when BJP's Vasundhara Raje was Rajasthan Chief Minister. Modi was banned for life by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in September this year after a committee found him guilty of wrongdoings as commissioner of the Indian Premier League. Modi has challenged the ban in court.
The BCCI has threatened to strip off RCA of all rights and privileges it enjoys as a Board unit if Modi is elected president. Modi, who is at loggerheads with the BCCI bosses, especially president N. Srinivasan, is claiming that he has the support of at least 25 RCA units. There are 33 votes in all and the RCA elections will be governed by the Rajasthan Sports Act (2005).

The team at Beatsworkin' in Barnstaple has created a Christmas tree made entirely out of old skateboard decks.
The decks, which have been generously donated by customers and friends, form the main parts of the tree while posters and flyers were used to create baubles for decoration.
"We wanted to do something for Christmas that reflected our business, so we decided on the skate deck tree," said owner Glenn Field.
"It's the first year that we've put up Christmas decorations, so this was really fun to do."
A total of 16 decks were used to create the tree, which was designed and constructed by the staff and friends of the shop.
Glenn said: "We asked friends and customers to bring in their old decks, it was difficult because people are quite attached to their boards; but we had some great donations.
"A friend of ours, Denz, is a carpenter and can pretty much construct anything, so with the guys at the shop we all got together and contributed ideas to design this tree.
"We've had an amazing response from everyone and we're really pleased with how it's come together. The people who donated their boards have been coming into the shop to look for their deck on the tree which is really nice!"
Beatsworkin' on Queens Street Barnstaple is open for late night shopping every Thursday until 9pm, and is open every day of the week 10am to 6pm. The shop will also be open on Boxing Day.

Due to mold, the children's room in Ukiah Library was recently shut down. In connection with it, My Cleaning Products suggested two products that could help the public kill mold safely anywhere it may be.
According to a report from ukiahdailyjournal.com dated December 14, 2013, the children section was shut down on Friday at 11 am, My Cleaning Products relayed. The closure, it shared, followed the discovery of the fungus and the inspection of Mendocino County Risk Management Division of the county's General Services Agency.
It was said in the post that the mold was found in the windows throughout the building, related MCP. However, it detailed that extensive fungus was discovered in the room for the children, even on its wall and ceiling. And as it suggested, it was its effects to the kids' health that particularly got the area shut down for the moment.

A mold growth was recently discovered in Ukiah Library. And because of it, the management was forced to shut down its section for the children.
The fungus was actually found in the windows of the whole library. However, the worst of its presence was discovered in the children's room, where it was seen growing even in the area's wall and ceiling.
MCP commented that it was a good thing the affected room was promptly closed as children, along with elders and people with weak immune systems, are most vulnerable to mold presence. However, it stressed that doesn't the rest of the population must not worry of its presence as it could still cause anyone a health problem.
Because of that, My Cleaning Products advised the public to be watchful of mold signs. And if any of them is encountered, it advised everyone to find and kill mold immediately. That, it said, would prevent the worst of its effects.
To do that, the company cited that one could hire a mold exterminator. However, it stated that it could be too expensive for others as a single professional mold remediation now costs around $1000.

A man and a woman have been arrested after being accused of stealing packages from at least two vehicles near Oregon City High School and the porch of a nearby home, police said.
A bystander spotted Timothy White, 41, and Cassie Gepford, 24, looking through vehicle windows and homes near the high school on Monday and called police.
Officers confronted White and Gepford and learned they both had outstanding warrants.
Police said the two later admitted to taking packages from two vehicles and the porch of a home near the high school. The two vehicles belonged to students, police said.
Neighbors said the case makes them think twice about having packages delivered to their homes.
"We have a pretty good track record of not a lot of crime and stuff, but it's always kind of in the back of your mind," said Megan Clegg, who said a package was stolen from her porch last December.
"I don't think I have any more packages coming," said Jessica Moyes, who lives near Oregon City High School. "I think I'm done. So, that's good."
Police said it's best to chose the "sign and deliver" method when having packages delivered to your home, which means you have to be physically present when the package is delivered and sign for it.
You can also ask a trusted neighbor to hold your packages until you get home, or have them delivered to work or a post office box, if possible. Also, never leave any valuables out in plain sight inside your vehicle, police said. Make sure your windows are rolled up and your doors are locked whenever you're away from your vehicle.

Police: 2 admit to stealing packages from porches, vehicles
CLIFTON - Two Paterson men have been charged with stealing packages left on Clifton and Totowa residents' front porches by UPS, some containing Christmas presents.
Mohammad Ahmed, 20, of Paterson, and Isa Ahmad, 21, of Paterson, have been charged with five counts of theft for stealing packages from homes on Thomas Street, Dumont Avenue and Maplewood Avenue on Dec. 10, said detective Sgt. Robert Bracken, spokesman for the Clifton Police Department.
Clifton detectives Daniel Ishack and Michael Panepinto had only a partial license plate number as they investigated the theft of the packages from Clifton homes, specifically one from Thomas Street and one from Dumont Avenue. A witness had reported the partial plate to police, Bracken said. As the detectives investigated on Dec. 11, they learned a vehicle with a similar license plate and matching the vehicle description, had just been reported leaving the scene of similar crimes in Totowa, Bracken said. The Clifton detectives traveled to Totowa where they located the vehicle in question occupied by the two suspects, Bracken said.
Following questioning, the suspects were charged with the two Thomas Street thefts, two Dumont Street thefts and one on Maplewood Avenue. Three of the victims had not yet realized their packages had been stolen, Bracken said.
Totowa police will investigate and file charges separately for the thefts in their jurisdiction.
Some of the stolen goods have been recovered, Bracken said.

CHURCH HILL Surgonsvilles sewer system is at least a year away from going online and its already facing its first rate increase.
This past January, Church Hill increased its local user sewer rate from $3.58 to $4.40 per 1,000 gallons. It was the first time in 20 years that Church Hill had increased its sewer rate.
The existing rate agreement for Church Hill to treat sewage from Surgoinsvilles new system is still $3.58, however. That agreement has been in place since 2003.
On Tuesday night, the Church Hill BMA was presented with a proposal bumping Surgoinsvilles rate up to $4.40 as well.
But at the suggestion of Mayor Dennis Deal, the BMA also agreed to amend that proposal to delay implementation of the $4.40 rate until December 2015.
Construction of Surgoinsvilles new sewer system isnt expected to be completed for at least a year.
Deal estimated that would give Surgoinsville a year of sewer operation before the higher rate kicks in.
What we will be getting from Surgoinsville is gray water, Deal told the BMA. Were not dealing with tap fees, were not dealing with pumps. What this will do is to give Surgoinsville a year of grace period to get their sewer system up and running, and then their rate would go back to the normal rate that we all pay.
