HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- WZZM 13 is learning new details about the business that was targeted by an FBI raid from a former employee.

On Wednesday, FBI agents entered Thermotron Industries on Kollen Park Drive and put the building on lockdown. The former employee explained more about what the company sells, who it sells to, and why it might be causing concerns.

Few words are coming from Thermotron Industries, a day after the FBI raided the building. However former employee Mark McFarland has plenty to talk about, after working for eight years with the company until 1992.

"I kind of went 'Wow, what happened there?' We were the best in the world at what we did," said McFarland.

WZZM 13 asked McFarland if he ever witnessed anything like the FBI raid on Wednesday. "Never, when I worked there and I still have friends that work there."

According to Thermotron's website, the company sells high tech chambers that test the durability of a product in a variety of circumstances, including high altitude and extreme temperature.

"We built a chamber once that fit a whole tank in, and then they can simulate all kinds of weather," explained McFarland.

Thermotron sells products to 40 countries around the world. A source tells WZZM 13 that the FBI raid was in connection to a national security concern.

Thanks to NASAs Cassini spacecraft, astronomers are gaining new insights into Saturns moon Titan, particularly when it comes to its hydrocarbon lakes and seas.

According to the US space agency, Titan is one of the most Earth-like entities in the entire solar system. Besides our planet, the moon is the only other place in the Milky Way that has stable liquid on its surface.

Cassinis recent close flybys are bringing into sharper focus a region in Titans northern hemisphere that sparkles with almost all of the moons seas and lakes, NASA said. Scientists working with the spacecrafts radar instrument have put together the most detailed multi-image mosaic of that region to date.

The image includes all the seas and most of the major lakes. Some of the flybys tracked over areas that previously were seen at a different angle, so researchers have been able to create a flyover of the area around Titans largest and second largest seas, known as Kraken Mare and Ligeia Mare, and some of the nearby lakes, the agency noted, adding that the majority of the liquid in the moons seas and lakes is methane and ethane.

A colorized movie produced using data obtained by the probes radar instrument from 2004 through 2013 shows Titans north pole at the center, and extends down to 50 degrees northern latitude. In the video, liquids are either black or blue, based on the way the radar bounced off the surface, while land appears yellow to white.

The largest sea, Kraken Mare, is the black-and-blue area sprawling from below and to the right of the north pole down to the bottom right, the agency said. The second largest sea, Ligeia mare, is a roughly heart-shaped entity located to the left of and just above the north pole. Punga Mare is located just below the north pole.

Cassini Sheds New Light On Size, Composition Of Titan’s Lakes

Hey there! Remember me? I have had this blog on my mind for a while now, but man oh man, I swear life gets busier by the day! I'm not sure if it's the age of my children and all that they're involved in, working full time and being a mom to 4, the stress of keeping up on everything at school, including RTI, or what, but yeah, you could say I've been busy! First of all, I just have to say how proud I am of all my cute little firsties. They are doing so great with reading this year and the majority of my class is on grade level. Thank you parents, volunteers and everyone else!! I think for this reason, my focus lately has been geared more towards math and what I can help them with there. We have done math centers every day this week and most of last week. Yes, that can be a little bit more work, but I think the small group instruction is so much more valuable. My first grade team sat down at the beginning of the year and mapped out what math essential goals we wanted our students to be able toachieveby the end of the school year. We then broke down our goals by trimesters so the end goal would seem achievable. Here's what we came up with.

Trimester 1 Students will be able to verbally count to 30, write to 30 (without any reversal and with neat handwriting), recognize the symbols +, -, and =, and be able to correctly use those symbols in a problem.

Trimester 2 Students will be able to verbally count to 70, write to 70 (without any reversal and with neat handwriting), add and subtract within 10.

Trimester 3 - Students will be able to verbally count to 120, write to 120 (without any reversal and with neat handwriting), add and subtract within 20.

If you are a first grade teacher, you may be aware that the new goal for first graders is to be able to reach 120 by the end of the year, where it used to be 100. We view our goals as "baby steps" towards reaching that goal. It has been such a thorough thing to do and by doing this process has opened our eyes to a lot of things we assumed the students already knew, but didn't. City Beach will get an $18 million facelift, with a new surf club and restaurant strip planned at the popular beachfront.

The Town of Cambridge has authorised calling tenders to build the $6.6 million ultramodern City of Perth Surf Life Saving Club and three restaurants at the site.

The existing surf club building will be demolished about March, with the new one to be ready for the 2015-16 summer.

Cambridge mayor Simon Withers said the building would become a Perth landmark.

"The design of the new building is iconic," he said. "I imagine it will feature on postcards and be widely photographed."

Mr Withers said the redevelopment would transform City Beach from a great beach dominated by an "ugly" building to the best beach in Perth.

Leases for two of the three restaurants have been awarded, with a well-known Perth hospitality family to open an upmarket eatery on the beachfront.

Marcel and Fiona Slobe will run the biggest of the three restaurants - a 1000sqm, "resort style" venue to open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Ms Slobe is the youngest daughter of Sonja Gastevich, a Perth hospitality veteran who has opened five Perth pubs, including the Royal in East Perth and Ess Bar in Subiaco.

If you blink, you might miss a new restaurant opening along the Poplar Avenue corridor in East Memphis.

Broadway Pizza on Mendenhall Road is nearing completion. Its just one of several new restaurants being added to the already busy Poplar Avenue corridor in East Memphis.

Over the last few months, several new restaurants have opened or are on the way around the heavily traveled Poplar corridor between Perkins Road and Kirby Parkway.

People are spending more and more eating out, said Danny Buring, managing partner with the Shopping Center Group LLC. The higher-end and fast-casual segments are picking up. Along that area, youre talking about a little of everything.

The restaurants are being lured to the area by the high traffic counts, population density, above-average incomes and extraordinarily high daytime population fueled by the thriving office market sector in East Memphis, according to local experts.

Soul Fish Cafe has opened its latest restaurant in the old Wolf Camera space, 4720 Poplar. The 3,100-square-foot location is Soul Fishs third restaurant in Memphis, behind its original spot in Cooper-Young and its Germantown store, near Forest Hill-Irene Road.

The Whimsy Cookie Co., a Memphis-based boutique that specializes in designing custom, hand-decorated cookies, is opening a location next door to Soul Fish. Laurie Suriff founded Whimsy Cookie Co. and is co-owner with Collins Tuohy, whose family was featured in the best-selling book and hit movie The Blind Side.

We had been eyeing it since Gifts and Art closed a year ago, and we love that cottage-style, gingerbread house, which is perfect for our company, Tuohy said. We think its going to be a great little addition to Poplar Avenue.

For antifraud Friday, we're looking at homeowner remodeling horrors and how to avoid them. From exceeding your budget to withholding contractor payments or being taken by phony contractors, here's how to avoid some financial horrors of home renovation.

Nearly half of those who have ever done a home remodeling project exceed their budget, and often aren't satisfied with the work. With dissatisfaction, of course, comes the question of whether to withhold contractors' payments. Nearly one-fifth of those dissatisfied with their most recent remodeling project withheld final payments from their builder-contractor, according to a survey last month from Bolster.com performed by Harris Interactive.

Among U.S. adults, home remodeling is an extremely stressful financial event.

Eighty-five percent of Americans consider doing a major remodeling project to their home to be at least somewhat stressful, even more so than taking out a mortgage (80 percent) and saving for college (66 percent).

Among those who have ever done a remodeling project to their home, most are likely to blame themselves or their partners for overpaying or work gone awry, as opposed to blaming a contractor, architect, real estate agent, home decorator, or interior designer.

Worse, phony contractors offer to do work on your home and then disappear with advance payments, says certified fraud examiner Leon LaRosa of LaRosa & Associates in Exton.

Here's how to avoid being disappointed, or, in the worst case, defrauded, LaRosa says:

Execute a contract describing specific details of the work to be performed, warranty details, price, and payment terms.

The 6-foot-8 Fair is averaging 17.8 points per game and is dynamic for a player his size, a southpaw with 3-point range who can handle the ball and facilitate. Pointer is looking forward to matching up against Fair on Sunday, though Lavin made it clear he will give Fair plenty of different looks.
