CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Denise Saxon is the first to admit that her Chandler home needs a little painting. After all, 14 years can really take its toll.
"The house has been fading over time, through the sun heating the back side," Saxon said. "It has some cracks and stuff so it was time to get it painted."
So, she started looking around for a good painter and in August she stumbled across a company called Salty's Quality Painting.
The company's work van claims Salty's is licensed and even displays the license number issued by the Registrar of Contractors.
Saxon felt comfortable knowing she was hiring a licensed painter, so she met with the company's owner, Jeff Salt.
"Jeff Salt is the gentleman I worked with and he's considered the president of the company," Saxon said.

MANILA, Philippines - The construction of the allegedly overpriced Iloilo Convention Center (ICC) will be completed before the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit next year, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said yesterday.
The P700-million ICC, considered as Senate President Franklin Drilons pet project, is being eyed as the venue for the APEC ministerial meetings in Iloilo.
However, DPWH-Region 6 recently declared a failure of bidding for phase two of the ICC construction, which covers the painting, tile works, plumbing, installation of electrical and mechanical features, and sphinx aluminum clogging.
DPWH regional director Edilberto Tayao admitted that the controversy hounding the ICC somehow affected the construction of the building.
He said some contractors might have had reservations about joining the bidding for phase two of the construction for fear that they might be dragged into allegations of overpricing.
The DPWH-Region 6 has scheduled a re-bidding in early January 2015, and Tayao hopes that many eligible and qualified contractors will participate.
Granting that the construction for phase two will start in February 2015, it is safe to say that the ICC building will be completed by June or July, he added.
As of Tuesday, Tayao said phase one of the ICC construction is 97.4 percent complete.
Phase two has a budget of P200 million, part of the P700-million budget for the whole ICC construction project.
The site development, which will cost P20 million to P30 million to be sourced from DPWH savings, might be done simultaneously with the phase two works.

Considerable engineering/tendering experience, proven track record of tendering EPC work in the Oil & Gas Industry. FPSO is a plus. Minimum of 15 years background as a Planner/Scheduler and/or Project Controls experience, with a strong EPC, Oil & Gas background. Must have a high degree of knowledge and experience related to Project Cost Control and planning techniques. Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and startup work processes. Ability to use spreadsheets, databases, word processing and PowerPoint, with experience of specialist Project Controls applications. A strong client facing background with previous experience of dealing and presenting information to major clients on large projects. Ability to interpret contract, manage financial risk, estimating and forecasting.

Police found Gregory Jean Jr hidden behind a false wall, a captive in his fathers house, but for four years he had been in plain sight, an abused child growing up in a Georgia suburb. And still he remained invisible.
Police did not search because they did not know he was missing. Child services reportedly knew but were unsure where to look. His school in Atlanta knew something was not right, but lost track after his father and stepmother withdrew Gregory, supposedly for home schooling.
It was the price of life on the margins. His father, Gregory Jean Sr, and stepmother, Samantha Davis, allegedly kept him to avoid paying child support to his biological mother, Lisa Smith.
Smith, 38, believed to be an immigrant from Haiti, lived some 400 miles south in Florida. She alerted child services but did not notify police, possibly because she was afraid to do so.
Gregory said he was beaten with a stick, humiliated, forced to work as a maid, banned from celebrating Christmas, and isolated from his alleged captor family and the wider world.
A Cinderella, said some. But in a twist that could have been scripted by Mark Zuckerberg, the 13-year-old orchestrated his escape not by shimmying down a drainpipe or appealing to a neighbour, but by sending his mother a Facebook friend request, triggering the police search that eventually found him.
It was not straightforward: Gregory had to connect a cell phone without a service provider to a wifi network, then download an app that enabled calls via wifi. I just went on [Google] Play Store and I downloaded an app called Magic Jack and I called my mom, he later told reporters. He sent the address and picture of the house in Clayton county, near Atlanta.
Police visited last Friday but left after Gregorys father and stepmother said they had not seen him in years and suggested he was in New York.
There was a lot of deception, Clayton county police sergeant Joanne Southerland told a press conference later. They denied, but no physical obstruction.
