?Here is a list of road projects around the Heartland scheduled for Saturday, July 19.

Butler County, MO

Roadwork continues on Route 67 from CR 323 to Route 160/158 signed as Route C. Traffic on the existing Route 67 north and south of Harviell will not have an outlet to the new pavement during this time. East and westbound traffic will be restricted. Existing lanes of Route 67 from CR 323 to Route 160/158 will be signed as Route C. The north end of Route C (existing Route 67) will remain closed for about two months as work is completed at the intersection of Route 67, Route C, and CR 323.

Route HH in Butler County will be closed as Missouri Department of Transportation crews prepare the roadway for pipe replacement. This section of road is located between County Road 334 and County Road 202. Weather permitting, work will performed Tuesday, July 22 and Wednesday, July 23 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Route BB in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to one lane with a 16-foot width restriction as Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) crews perform pavement repairs. This section of road is located from Route B to end of state maintenance. Weather permitting, work will performed Monday, July 21 through and Thursday, July 24 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Janet Drive will be closed at the intersection of Janet & Fairlane and Janet & Brookwood in Cape Girardeau. The intersections will be open.

Concrete street repairs are set to start on July 14 on Hopper Road near Clippard School in Cape Giradeau. The city says this will be the first of many repairs occurring this year. Work on Hopper is expected to last up to two weeks, weather permitting. Visit this link for more.

STILL STANDING: CTV building designer David Harding was the principal engineer on this five-storey Christchurch building on Moorhouse Ave.

The designer of the Canterbury Television (CTV) building, which collapsed in the Christchurch earthquake killing 115 people, also took the lead on a five-storey office block in the central city 20 years later.

David Harding, who was found by the Canterbury earthquakes royal commission to have been working "beyond his competence" when designing the CTV building in 1986, was the principal engineer on the building at 22 Moorhouse Ave in 2008.

Tenants in White Fox & Jones House, which overlooks Hagley Park, include Samsung, GE Energy, GCA Lawyers, Opus and law firm, White Fox & Jones.

Harding, principal of Harding Consulting Engineers, was the "engineer on record" who signed off the design. It is understood Harding worked on the foundation design at 22 Moorhouse Ave, while son Matthew Harding, a Sydney-based structural engineer, did the calculations and computer modelling.

An Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (Ipenz) disciplinary committee hearing last week was told David Harding had not designed a multi-level building since the CTV building.

The Sunday Star-Times sought clarification from Harding's lawyer Michael Kirkland about the roles David and Matthew Harding had in the design and why Harding took on the project after more than 20 years between multi-level designs, but received no response.

The building was constructed by Amherst Properties, which confirmed David Harding was the principal engineer.

Amherst property manager Robyn O'Brien said it was built to the "highest construction standards" and met the building codes. It was assessed after each earthquake event in 2010 and 2011, did not sustain any structural damage and was deemed safe to occupy, she said.

The Harford County Department of Parks and Recreation is closing the historic grist mill at Eden Mill Nature Center and Park this Monday for several months, as the exterior of the more than 200-year-old mill is renovated.

Workers will replace the exterior wooden siding and the building's 39 windows, Paul Magness, parks and recreation's deputy director, said Thursday.

"The siding that's there has run its course," Magness said. "It's at the end of its useful life."

The Eden Mill Nature Center next to the mill and the rest of the park grounds will remain open while the work at the mill is progress.

Magness explained that the windows and siding on the mill building must be replaced to ensure water does not leak into the structure during a rain storm.

"Water can very easily penetrate into the historic mill, and this will certainly help with that issue and protect the inside," Magness said.

The mill in Pylesville is a Harford County registered historic property, and the renovation project received approval from the county's historic commission in February.

Magness said the commission members had to ensure "replacement construction materials that we're using are going to match the existing size and color of the structure."

The county has a $194,280 contract with L.C. Bathon Builders. The mill is expected to be closed for tours for four months.

Magness said the contractor is "confident" the work will be completed in time for Eden Mill's annual Fall Fest scheduled for Nov. 8.
