On January 25, 2014, Atlanta heating repair company Bardi Heating, Cooling and Plumbing participated in a Habitat for Humanity build sponsored by Clark Howard, radio host and TV consumer expert. In addition, the Bardi Employee Charitable Foundation held a fundraiser in November to collect donations for the Norcross Cooperative Ministry. The funds raised were presented to the non-profit organization during Bardis annual drug free workplace meeting held on January 24.
The Habitat for Humanity build site was located in Atlanta at 1414 Clark Howard Lane. The home was one of several under construction by Habitat for Humanity on a new road named after sponsor Clark Howard. Bardi employees and clients assisted with basic construction including building the framing of the home and putting up new sheetrock.
Bardi employees held a fundraiser in November to benefit the Norcross Cooperative Ministry, a faith-based non-profit providing emergency aid and services to families in Norcross and Gwinnett County, where the Bardi office is located. This was the first fundraiser held in the new office location.
The funds raised were presented to John Byerley, President, and Shirley Cabe, Executive Director of the Norcross Cooperative Ministry during Bardis annual drug free workplace meeting. Bardi was the first heating and air conditioning contractor to be certified Drug-Free Workplace (DFWP) in Georgia. During the meeting, Bardi also celebrated employees who have provided 10 or more years of service: Tommy Rape, Lance Nordall, Jose Mega, Ricke Jenkins, Bob Jarrett and Jimmy Lovinggood.

A handyman in Gulfport has been arrested on fraud-related charges.
The Gulfport Police Department said David Ryals was arrested Monday afternoon following a string of crimes.
They included burglary and scheming to fraud.
Ryals has allegedly been targeting elderly, single women with bogus offers to perform handyman services.
Police have identified four victims so far, ranging in age from 67 to 85 years of age.
Ryals has also been linked to at least two burglaries and stole money from at least five people, police said.
On January 19, police said Ryals convinced a 68-year-old woman to give him a down payment on a concrete repair job.
He told the woman he would do the job while she was out of town. Instead, he broke into her house and stole jewelry and other valuables, detectives said.
Most recently, an 85-year-old woman reported that on February 9th, Ryals agreed to do a pressure-cleaning job.

At North Harbor Dairy Farm in Sackets Harbor, it's clear Mother Nature has left her mark this winter with all the snow and ice.
"It's really put us behind for spring's work. We're probably three to four weeks behind because we've had to put so much more labor into moving snow," said Brian Robbins, the farm's general manager.
"It's a full-time job for at least one, most of the time two guys, just to keep everything plowed out and to keep us moving here on the farm," said Ryan Nortz, a farm employee.
Even the cows are feeling this winter's grip.
"There are issues with pneumonia and of keeping the barns closed up all night and not properly ventilated," said Robbins.
Another problem is the ice.
Even though the cows are inside, it can still get below freezing, which causes ice to form on the ground.
While it's not uncommon for the cows to slip, sometimes they'll fall and can't get back up.
A few cows have even died.
"When you're a big, heavy cow and you go down, it's hard to get back up. And they're an animal. Their instinct is to get back up and sometimes they hurt themselves even more," said Robbins.
