Roofing companies at odds over name in Statesboro

    - January 15, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Two Statesboro roofing companies, both with basically the same name, are operating in the same city.

One's been there for more than a decade, the other arrived on the scene a few weeks ago.

One has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. The other does not and the confusion is causing some issues in Statesboro.

"They are being confused for us on a daily basis," said Trent Nesmith, owner of American Roofing and Vinyl Siding.

Nesmith's American Roofing has been based in Statesboro for the past 14 years, with operations in Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri and North Carolina.

"Google 'American Roofing' and we have worked really hard to organically build the search to find us, but that benefits him," Nesmith said.

Nesmith is referring to Richard Roberts, the owner of American Roofing and Vinyl, which just moved into Statesboro.

Nesmith says his American Roofing is getting calls about the new American Roofing, so he posted a warning online, which pops up when you visit their website,http://www.americanroofingandvinyl.com/.

"In an effort to try and prevent confusion, between the real and the imposters, I want to get it out to as many people as I can. We've worked really hard to build our name since 1999," Nesmith said.

Bob Rowand of Jurin Roofing Services Promoted to Roof Asset Manager

    - January 15, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Quakertown, PA (PRWEB) January 15, 2014

Jurin Roofing Services, Inc. announced the promotion of Bob Rowand to Roof Asset Manager earlier this week. Bob has been a roof service technician for Jurin Roofing Services since 2009. Bobs roofing experience began back in 1987 when started his own roofing company, Summit Roofing. During his 20 year tenure as a roofing company owner he worked with several property management companies as well as residential clients in a service and repair capacity. From 2008 to 2009 he worked for two other roofing companies but didnt feel at home until he decided to accept a position as Lead Roof Service Technician with Jurin Roofing Services.

I have always lived by one rule: Do unto others as you would have done to you. This theme has played an important role not only in my personal life but also in business so it was important for me to join a company with the same values. The management and team members at Jurin Roofing Services share that vision and I can take great pride knowing Im part of such a great company. Bob Rowand responded when asked what his passion was in life. My success is based on my clients satisfaction. If they arent happy, than neither am I. He also stated I love the challenge of finding a leak that no other roofer has been able to locate. Im all about the results and I like to see a smile on my clients face when I leave their facility.

In his new role, Bob will be responsible for hard to solve and complex leak issues that require an experienced and intuitive approach. He will also be completing annual roof inspections and assisting our clients in the management of their roof assets by providing comprehensive reports including REUL (remaining estimated use life), repair recommendations and replacement budgets, and trending information on the roofs performance.

Bob has a strong passion for leak investigation and quality service. He will not give up until he finds a solution to our clients roofing problems. His intuitiveness allows him to grasp whether or not he has solved the problem and he is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure hes giving our clients the best service possible. He is the one we send when we have a hard to solve issue knowing he wont leave the site until hes found a solution, said Jurin Roofing Services president Christophor Jurin.

Bob Rowand has also formed a client following at Jurin Roofing and is many times personally requested to address their issues. Ralph Lopez of the Stroud Mall located in Stroudsburg, PA, a long time client of Jurin Roofing, had this to say about his experiences with Bob Rowand and Jurin Roofing. Weve always had a good relationship with Bob. Everything that is expected is always put on the table and he always explains what hes doing. Every visit Bob takes the time to come see me first, discuss the problem, I show him where the problem areas are and then hes off and running. Once hes done he comes back to see me again and explains what was done, what wasnt done and what could be done. We are always satisfied with the service Bob provides for The Stroud Mall. Hes a good guy.

Founded in 1974, Jurin Roofing Services, Inc. is known for top quality roofing throughout the east coast. Commercial Roofing Contractor KPOST Company’s Steve Little Named President of the Midwest Roofing Contractors …

    - January 15, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) January 14, 2014

KPOST Company, industry-leading commercial roofing company in Dallas, announced that president Steve Little is the president of the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA). MRCA is a regional association supporting 22 states and dedicated to the needs of the contractor through various programs.

KPOST Company has been a long-standing member of MRCA primarily due to the alignment of values between the organizations.

Hard work, integrity and helping your fellow man really reflect our values and the values of MRCA, said Steve Little. It provides our KPOST team members the opportunity to learn best business practices from contractors in our region in a safe, less competitive environment which is more conducive to open dialog.

When we can come together and work to professionalize, improve the processes and build best practices, it builds a stronger industry overall, said Louise Ristau, Executive Director for MRCA. There is strength in numbers that affords us the ability to tackle issues that need to be addressed as a group. Having organizations like KPOST dedicated to the causes of an association provide the backbone and growth potential for the MRCA."

Little and Ristau believe that one of the many challenges for roofing contractors in 2014 is the development of strong safety programs. By utilizing MRCAs SHARP Toolbox, MRCA members can create or supplement their own safety programs. In addition, the monthly talks and documentation are translated into Spanish for wider distribution.

Another focus for MRCA is to build leaders by developing programs for younger generations.

Steve Little helped organize our Young Contractor Council (YCC) that is helping shape our association for years to come while bridging the gap between the baby boomer generation roofing contractors and todays Gen X and Millenials up and coming leaders, said Ristau.

It is an honor to be part of MRCAs board. I look forward to continuing strong programming in 2014 so we can serve the roofing contractor community, said Little.

Middle Tennessee Man Sentenced to Prison for 2012 Roofing Scams

Nickey Evans, 39, of Hendersonville, was sentenced Monday in Madison County Circuit Court, Division II. Judge Don Allen ordered Evans to serve a total of 10 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections for one count of theft over $10,000 and four counts of theft over $1,000.

After his 10 year prison sentence, Evans must serve 11 months and 29 days in the Madison County Jail for operating a business without a license.

An investigation by Jackson police showed that Evans was the owner of a business called Inspector Roofing. Evans operated this business in rented office space on Carriage House Drive.

Between June and September 2012, three Jackson and two Madison County homeowners entered into separate contracts with Inspector Roofing to repair damaged roofs. Evans was paid amounts between $3,300 and $10,682 by the homeowners.

After repeated attempts over several months, none of the homeowners were successful in getting the work completed or getting a refund. The loss by all five homeowners totaled $27,000.

The investigation also showed that Evans operated Inspector Roofing without a license. Investigators feel there could be other victims.

Anyone who believes they were taken advantage of by Evans or Inspector Roofing is asked to contact Investigator Ashley McCullar with the Jackson Police Department's Organized Crime Unit at 731-425-8584 or amcullar@cityofjackson.net.

Berhalter: Crew Fortunate to Add Hector Jimenez, "Get Back in" SuperDraft with Trade

    - January 15, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

January 14, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS) Columbus Crew Just when it seemed the Columbus Crew was de-emphasizing the MLS SuperDraft, it launched themselves back into the middle of the First Round through a deal on Tuesday with the LA Galaxy.

For its second-round pick (23rd overall) and allocation money,Columbus acquired the Galaxy's 14thoverall selection and winger Hector Jimenez. Crew Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter said the combination of both was a fortunate coincidence.

"Hector's been a guy that we had been following for a while," Berhalter told MLSsoccer.com by phone Tuesday. "As it turns out, the timing of the deal made a first-round pick available as well."

While the League does not reveal allocation numbers, Berhalter said the amount the club spent "wasn't substantial," and called it a good deal for both teams.

In Jimenez, Berhalter expects a player who will compete for a starting spot and, as has been a theme of his offseason additions, the 25-year-old provides versatility in the Crew attack.

"We're getting a very versatile player, a player who is very technical with good transition speed and likes to combine and can really play the ball in tight spaces," Berhalter said. "He can play on either side, he can play in the middle. ... We're going to look at him in a number of positions."

With the likes of young wingersBen Speas,Ethan Finlay,Justin MeramandBernardo Aoron the Crew roster andDominic Odurolikely cementing a starting role, it would seem the Crew have plenty of outside midfielders. But Berhalter said the acquisition was useful nonetheless.

"In that position, I feel that depth is important," he said. "I also feel that [Jimenez] comes from a good place. He's played with a lot of good players, and he's a high-level player."

With the Galaxy's 14thoverall SuperDraft pick, Berhalter feels the club moved back into the range where they believe they can draft a "contributor slash starter ... a guy who can come in and play some games."

"We felt that at 23 we were kind of outside of that bubble a little bit, and we wanted to get back in it," Berhalter said. "As this deal kind of unraveled, there was a chance for that, and we took it."

In Focus: No warm greeting to the new year, but hey, it could be worse

    - January 15, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Published: Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, 12:01a.m. Updated 13 hours ago

Last Tuesday's record-breaking cold weather became even more difficult when our furnace stopped working.

When I first noticed the house getting chilly at 1:30 a.m. I tried cranking the thermostat to 80 degrees to see if it would kick on.

    Nothing.

Then, my boyfriend and I went to the basement, neither of us knowing anything about furnaces, and stared at it for a couple of minutes while it tried to start.

Tick, tick, tick, tick. Again, nothing.

We called one heating-and-cooling company that boasted 24/7 service on its website. No one answered.

Our second try, with a different company, was more successful, and about 45 minutes later, a technician arrived at our house.

Unfortunately, though, he didn't bring great news.

After examining our furnace, he told us it was as old as he was 26 and well over its expected lifespan.
